Out of the half corpse, Layla’s shoes, and her sudden change in behavior, Cia couldn’t help but find the whole situation suspicious. At first, she was hesitant on getting so close, not wanting to get hurt, but now she needed to see more.
Just then, several red lines slashed into the large beast, and although they couldn’t see just who fired them, Peter recognized that color. It meant that they were using their vampire powers out in the open.
’Crap, I have to get Cia out of here. If she sees them doing vampire stuff, then she’ll figure out that they aren’t human!’ Peter worried, ’As much as I’d like to stay and help my friends, I’m too weak to help in a fight. I’ll just have to trust that they can do this themselves.’
"Cia, we have to go, now!" Peter harshly whispered, and tugged at her sleeve.
Cia’s eyes slowly turned to him, and his sudden change in reaction told her everything. It was his idea to get close, for her to use her spirit spears, and suddenly he wants to leave. Clearly there was something Peter didn’t want her to see.
’And yet he said he didn’t want to abandon his friends,’ Cia thought, ’He definitely knows way more about this group.’
The ground shook, and they saw a large crack in the ice encasing the king tier beast.
"I’m serious, we need to leave!" Peter nearly shouted.
Cia gritted her teeth. If she stuck around, she’d figure out more information, and see what exactly happened to Layla, but there was a chance that she would die before she could tell this to agent 5.
"Fine, let’s go."

In the team’s mind, the chances of defeating the beast and acquiring its crystal was a very real possibility. So long as they kept this up, they could get a king tier crystal all for themselves.
Erin and Quinn were taking turns, firing both blood swipes and mud sprays. Then, as extra measure, Erin would regenerate her health once her rapier paleneedle’s cooldown was off.
However, the little one had seen Quinn fight against the beast, and although he was upset that the Likmorn attacked him, he wasn’t using as much force as he was earlier. He burned through his MC, and exhaustion was about to take its hold on him.
Layla from above glanced over to Vorden, and wondered something.
’He’s been using up a lot of his MC, surely he’s going to run out soon, right?’
The little one staggered, struggling to keep himself upwards as he exhausted his strength. With one last glance over at Quinn, he smiled, and fell over.
With no one supplying ice around it, the Likmorn began to force itself to break out of the ice. It cracked, and Layla was about to fire another arrow when she heard a voice down to the left of her.
Due to the fact that Layla was only a ghoul, she couldn’t accurately smell just how many humans or vampires were in a given environment.
’Who was that!?’ Layla briefly wondered, concerned that someone might’ve seen them use vampire powers.
This moment of hesitation had given the Likmorn enough time to fully break out of the ice, getting free.
’Shit—’ Layla mentally cursed, and prepared another dazzling arrow. She fired it, but before it could land, the beast cut it in half mid air.
It was free, but instead of attacking the group, it turned around towards the tower, and ran off.
Quinn knew he wouldn’t be fast enough to chase after it, not with the armor on, so he tried to form spikes below the beast, but it jumped over them. Then Erin flashstepped towards it, thrusting her rapier at the beast, but it landed on a part of the skin that wasn’t injured, bouncing off.
Erin mentally cursed. Already her rapier was proving to become obsolete soon.
The double doors to the tower opened, and the beast ran inside. Erin chased after it, but as soon as she past the doors, blue wooden torches lit up, and a system notification appeared in her vision.
[You have entered a vampire tomb]
’Wait a second, a vampire tomb? Does that mean I might encounter another vampire?’ Erin questioned, as she watched the beast run deeper inside.
"Not exactly, but very likely so," the system replied, "A vampire tomb of this kind usually means that a powerful vampire was put into eternal slumber here."
Erin wasn’t sure if she should proceed or not. It sounded like the vampire was asleep, but if it was strong, then they could attack her for trespassing into their tomb. She had no frame of reference for what most vampires considered a strong member of their kind.
’Explain.’
"You see, when a vampire goes into eternal slumber, it’s a permanent condition where they are unable to wake up unless they are fed blood from someone of their own family. This includes those they have turned as well as direct family members."
’That’s it?’ Erin thought, ’If the vampire is alseep, then we should have nothing to worry about.’
The others followed behind Erin, and she was about to head deeper into the tower, when Fex got in front of her.
"I’m not sure if we should continue going. I recognize this as a tomb, and vampires are often put into eternal slumber because they were so powerful that nothing could destroy them."
Erin walked around Fex, determined, "It doesn’t matter if there’s a powerful vampire here or not. So long as none of us have the blood to wake it up, then we can defeat that beast."
—
The beast was running up the stairs as fast as possible. It knew it had to do something as a final resort. Realizing that running was taking too long, it aimed a bladed arm towards the ceiling, and shot it high, embedding onto a far higher staircase. It lifted its body upwards, and landed near an area where the staircase flattened out.
There was a room here, nearly at the top floor, and it had several podiums. The beast didn’t care about the special items on them. Instead, it walked to the back, and dug out a shiny bright red crystal deep within its muddy body. It didn’t know why it must do this in times of danger, only that it was commanded to when it believed it would die.
At the back was a circular-shaped hole, one that perfectly fit the red crystal. The beast dropped it in, and rolled down a tube out of sight.
It continued rolling and rolling, eventually ending up in a small graphite crucible that began to heat up. The crystal melted inside, turning into a boiling hot liquid that looked a lot like blood.
This crucible was inside of a dark room, one with an ancient casket inside. Around the top of the cask was a window, revealing a pale figure’s head, his eyes closed.
The crucible tilted, pouring the liquid down a metal chute, and feeding directly into the casket.
For a few seconds, nothing happened, but then more machinery shifted around, the casket was starting to lift out of the dark room, and the pale figure’s eyes slowly fluttered open, glowing blood red.
