Blood Queen Reborn

The day settled in more as the morning alarm went off to indicate it was time to get up.

Just like they did the previous morning, the students gathered around the bottom, and whispered amongst themselves, discussing whether or not they were going to continue the expedition.

"Are they seriously going to continue this expedition?"

"Well, they have the Sergeants right? I’m sure they can defeat whatever comes our way."

"Except there’s only two of them and there’s king tiers on this planet!"

"If they weren’t going to continue it then why would they make us sleep in those tree houses?"

Faye stood upon the platform and slammed her rapier into the ground which silenced the students.

"After a long discussion, we have decided to continue with the expedition. However, we have also changed some details to ensure the same mistakes yesterday are not done today. The radius of the scanners have been reduced to 100 meters instead of 200. This is to make sure students do not stray too far from their teachers. Similarly, this is a reminder to the teachers to only use the alert button when strictly necessary."

Then Faye seemed to glare at one of the teachers in the crowd, before continuing.

"That is everything. I wish you the best of luck today," Faye said.

With that, all of the teachers headed out into different directions, their students following behind.

Before they all left, Erin looked above and saw Minny with her mom on one of the bridges waving at her.

’Right, I’m one of the few people here with full body armor,’ Erin thought.

It definitely made her stand out, as most people couldn’t afford it, especially not since the early end of the previous expedition.

Erin waved back, and she could see the little girl smile brightly.

On their way into the jungle, Del was up front, stomping the ground and annoyed. He was woken up early in the morning, and told off by Leo that day.

’If it wasn’t for her, I would’ve gotten a full night’s rest,’ Del thought.

He turned around and saw Erin easily, her bright white armor sticking out like a sore thumb.

’And why should I be the one risking my life on this planet when she already has full body armor?’ Del thought, ’Where is the respect for her superiors? Her elders?’

That was when a brilliant thought entered his mind, and he smiled.

Meanwhile, Layla walked over to Erin, and whispered to her, "Hey, I wasn’t able to eat yesterday, and I’m hungry again."

"Weren’t you going to ask Vorden about that?"

"Here’s the thing, I was going to, but there’s no doors on the tree houses," Layla said, "And I was asking him about.... eating him later out of view of everyone, but he said by the time we find somewhere to hide, the regeneration ability was going to wear off."

"Wear off?" Erin nearly scoffed, "How can an ability wear off?"

"You two are not quiet at all," Vorden said right behind Erin, "And for the record, any ability I copy wears off every 24 hours. Even now, I don’t have the regeneration ability copied anymore."

"Can’t you copy it again?" Erin said.

"Well I would, but I can’t seem to find the ability user here," Vorden replied, "It’s possible he died yesterday."

Even though Vorden had the same ability copied, if he had landed on his head, he would’ve died instantly as that was the one weakness of the ability, and that was what had likely happened to the regeneration ability user.

"I ate him?!" Layla harshly whispered.

"Okay, but isn’t there another regeneration ability user?" Erin brought up.

"About that," Fex said, "The one I was farming probably belongs to another teacher altogether. Unless we somehow encounter another class, I doubt we’d find him."

Yet again, Layla’s hunger was becoming a problem, and she was starting to feel bad being so needy all the time.

"It’s fine, I can restrain myself," Layla muttered, "I’m not even that hungry anyways."

"Did you get all of that?" Erin said in a slightly louder voice.

"Huh?" Quinn replied, having not heard anything.

"Quinn, get your ears cleaned, even Vorden heard everything we said," Erin scolded.

Quinn blinked. He genuinely did not hear a thing at all. Even though he was thinking about certain things in his mind, he wasn’t trying to block out all forms of sound.

What had happened was that Vorden’s senses were naturally enhanced by the large amount of qi in his body, which included his hearing.

"I’d recommend you feed Layla your blood so you could ensure she listens to your commands," the system suggested, "If you do, you can influence her so she doesn’t feel as hungry. This is an old technique vampires used to do on ghouls in the past as to hide the hunger of ghouls."

It was an option to help Layla as they couldn’t stray too far away from Del now, and everyone was going to be much closer together. However, it did come with its own issue of trying to discretely feed Layla blood. Ultimately, Erin was going to consider it so long as the area they ended up with would give enough cover to hide.

"Alright kids, we’re here!" Del said with a wide smile.

They ended up in a pretty open area, that being a spot near a sandy lake and a waterfall. Although they didn’t know this, it was the same spot that Cia and Peter were in the previous day.

"By the way, before I turn on the scanners," Del said, holding up his own scanner, "To encourage competitiveness, I’d like to say that the team currently in first place is Erin’s team which has a whooping 100 points!"

He said this all while staring at Erin, which meant that they could see just who exactly it was he was talking about.

"We have that many points?" Fex raised an eyebrow, "I know I wasn’t keeping track but..."

There was a sense of hostility in the air, as Erin could feel that a bright red target was painted on her back.
