Blood Queen Reborn

It didn’t take long for the class to scan the 100 meter radius, and for Del to send the signal to come back together at the lake.

"By the way, I seemed to have dropped my scanner in the lake, and I need a helpful volunteer to fish it out for me," Del said, then pointed at Erin, "How about you go into the lake to grab it?"

A few students glanced at each other, unsure if their teacher was really openly admitting to being so incompetent. How could someone drop such an important item? And there was literally a water user in their class.

"Sure, I’ll do it," Erin said.

Erin walked into the lake, wading through the murky water, and using the inspect skill. Unfortunately, all she could find were rocks and sand.

{Erin} I swear if he sent me on a wild goose chase.

"Nevermind, I found it!" Del shouted, and took out his scanner, "Turns out I had it in my pocket this entire time!"

Upon hearing that, Erin nearly had a blood vessel popped, and all she wanted to do was kick the guy in the balls.

{Erin} Just what the hell is this guy’s problem?!

{Quinn} Agreed. He peeves me off too.

After Erin got out of the water, the class continued traveling again. Due to the reduced radius, they weren’t going as far as they intended on going for the previous day. As as they traveled, Quinn overheard a neighboring team loudly complain about something.

"Why don’t you have any crystals? I thought you said you came across some dog-like beasts."

"We did, but I was telling you that those beasts didn’t have anything."

"How can a beast not have crystals? Are you sure you carved it out right?"

"I swear! I carved out the whole thing!"

{Quinn} Did you hear that?

{Quinn} They’re talking about the same dogs we encountered in the underground city.

Erin turned to him a little confused. As far as she was aware, when she came across that same city, she didn’t see any other beasts aside from the Likmorn. Although, now that she recalled it more, she did pass by a few dark, matted furry corpses, but at the time, she was more focused on trying to get to Layla to notice.

{Erin} We might be close to that same mountain, but what about it?

{Quinn} Layla needs food, and if me and Vorden sneak into the mountain, we can get something for her to eat.

{Erin} Or you can try the area where I killed the florasaur.

That was when the system spoke up, "It’s possible, but that was out in the open. Other beasts could’ve eaten those corpses, as well as insects decomposing them. Although Layla is a ghoul, rotten flesh is not something she would enjoy particularly eating. The coolness of the dark caves would most likely keep those corpses fresh enough for a ghoul’s diet."

It was then that Erin was starting to conceptualize a plan. Although there was a radius for where the scanners would work, it didn’t mean that they couldn’t leave it. The problem would be doing so without Del noticing, and being fast enough as to return before they moved onto a new spot.

Erin turned to Layla, and noticed she had a hand over her stomach as well as a slight pained expression.

’I’d do anything to keep her safe, and Del already has his attention on me.’

At the next area, they arrived at a mossy area with a bit of a muddy center, and large trees overhead creating a leafy roof. Rays of sun bled through, creating a beautiful sight. It wasn’t too far off from the lake, as those with sensitive hearing could faintly hear the waterfall next to it in the distance.

However, Erin’s team couldn’t appreciate it for long, as on their way here, Erin and Quinn told the others of their plan.

The idea was that Vorden would copy Quinn’s ability, and dig into the mountain together. Given that the entrances to the mountain were most likely blocked, and getting in using the purple beasts wasn’t very fast, they were going to need to make their own.

Meanwhile, Erin, Layla and Fex were going to stay behind. They intended on teetering on the edge of the radius for when Del called everyone back. They didn’t know how much time that would add, but any second helped.

The moment Del activated the scanners again, Erin and her team members immediately left to get as much privacy as possible. There was another thing too, and it was to see if the mountain was actually nearby.

Due to the thick tree roof, they couldn’t see the massive mountain pass the leaves, meaning they had to go above them.

"If I climb up there, the sunlight is going to hit me under my hood," Erin said.

Since the sun of this planet’s rotation was a few degrees above setting, it would shine directly at an angle that her hood couldn’t cover. This would make it trickier for her to get down when her stats would get reduced. Thankfully, Fex had his ring, so he was able to do it.

"Seriously, we gotta get you one of these rings," Fex commented as he climbed up.

At the same time, Vorden held his hand out in front of Quinn, "Your ability?"

They touched hands, and Vorden could feel the MC replicate in his body. After a few seconds, Fex dropped down, and pointed at a direction.

"The mountain is over there. It’s honestly not even that far off," Fex said, "Maybe we’re so close to the old spot because the teachers are told to scan certain areas or something. Either way, you guys should be thanking me yet again for my Fex Feeds services."

Vorden wanted to ask what that meant, but they were already enough on a time crunch. He and Quinn ran off towards the mountain, leaving Fex, Layla and Erin there.

"Alright, now we just gotta hope they’re fast enough about this," Fex said.

Just then, a singular student stepped out into view, but they could smell and hear other students hiding in the bushes. With Erin’s team being smaller, the other team was looking to take advantage of this fact.

"If you hurt us, it’ll be a cost to your points!" Layla said, gripping her bow tightly, "And didn’t we save your life yesterday?"

The student that stepped out was a girl with pale skin, and long black hair that matched her glossy black lipstick. There looked to be light blue extensions in her hair, and she wore a leather jacket on top of her school uniform, as well as light pink boots.

"Yeah, uh, I don’t really care about that," Jessica said, placing a hand on her hip. Judging by her posture, it seemed like she was the group’s leader, "Not that it matters, cause I’m not going to be the one fighting you."

Snapping her fingers, a boy teleported in front of them, holding onto a large worm-like beast the size of a desk. He teleported away, and back a few times, bringing several beasts in all in the span of a few seconds.

Erin gritted her teeth. It was a loop hole, one that she was sure Del wouldn’t mind overlooking.

’Fine, if she’s going to play dirty, then so am I,’ she thought, and unsheathed her blood sword.
