Building Interstellar Empire With Universal Synthesis
Chapter 210: Beginning Of DoomChapter 210: Chapter 210: Beginning Of Doom
Following an early warning from the galactic Watchers, the Noman Sector formed a seemingly impenetrable defense around each border world.
Hundreds of Titan-class warships, thousands of heavy dreadnoughts, countless mechs, and millions of slaves joined the war.
It was quite a spectacle from below.
The slave citizens watched with unease. They had never seen such movement from the military in recent years.
"I am getting scared. Why is everyone ascending to orbit?" an old beastkin slave muttered.
His calloused hands trembled as he dropped his heavy adamantine mining pick. He wiped the toxic soot from his eyes, staring up at the polluted crimson sky.
"Quiet down, old man. Do you want the overseers to hear you?" a gruff human miner hissed, looking around nervously.
"The overseers are gone, Jax," a younger elven worker with a heavily scarred face pointed out.
She leaned exhausted on her shovel, saying:
"Look at the command towers. They left the outer perimeter completely unguarded."
She was right. The sky were bleeding with violent engine trails.
Tens of Thousands of heavy dreadnoughts slowly broke through the thick cloud cover, ans the loud synchronized roar of anti-gravity thrusters rattled the very bedrock of the planet, shaking the cramped, metallic slums where the workers lived.
"Ah mommy, are we under attack?" asked a small dwarven child, clinging tightly to his mother’s rusted tunic.
"I do not know, little one. But whatever it is, it must be massive."
The cargo bays of Titan class ships were getting packed with millions of Ironblood legionnaires.
But these were slaves strapped into rusted, mass produced mech suits with explosive collars ticking ominously around their necks.
The elite Ironblood commanders were cracking their glowing plasma whips, forcing the endless tide of disposable bodies upward.
"Damn devils! They are using the penal battalions as cannon fodder again. They are just planning to throw our bodies at the problem until it goes away," Jax said with gritted teeth.
And old beastkin sighed,
"Its our godforsaken fate. I have worked this cursed rock for eighty years. I have seen Viscount Azekin crush entire planetary rebellions with a single squad of Ironblood elites. But I have never seen him empty the entire planetary garrison like this."
The young elf narrowed her eyes against the harsh exhaust winds sweeping across the barren plains.
All of a sudden a dangerous emotion bloomed deep in her chest.
It was a feeling that had been systematically beaten out of her species centuries ago.
Hope.
"If the masters are pulling every ship they have to the sky," she murmured softly, "then someone out there is finally bringing the fight to them."
"Do you really think it is a rescue?" the dwarven mother asked, looking fragile hopeful.
Jax clicked his tongue.
"Tsk. Nobody rescues slaves
But if whoever is up there kills Azekin and his monsters, I will gladly worship them as a god."
High above the smog, the atmosphere burned away as the orbital defense shield fully activated.
The slaves down in the metallic slums held their breath. The impenetrable planetary shield pulsed with a brilliant, blinding blue light, turning the polluted sky into a ceiling of solid geometric glass.
Then, reality tore open.
It happened with a terrifying silence that sucked the sound right out of the atmosphere. A spatial rift massive enough to swallow a moon ripped through the dark void just beyond the defensive grid. Violet light poured from the tear, followed immediately by the colossal, shadow soaked hull of the LORD.
When the Zenith Empire fleet fully transitioned into real space, the gravitational weight of their World Engines sent a visible shockwave across the enemy defense lines.
RUMBLE!
The twenty Titan class warships spread their metallic wings, completely eclipsing the distant sun.
Aboard the Ironblood flagship, General Gorath shouted the command to fire.
"Fireeee!"
Following his rumble, millions of heavy cannons ignited across the Noman Sector fleet.
Buzz! Buzzz!
Theur plasma and kinetic artillery shells illuminated the dark void, rushing straight toward the Zenith Vanguard.
At the exact same time, the cargo bays of the Ironblood Titans opened wide.
From there, the penal battalions were violently ejected into zero gravity.
These were numbered in millions.
And these millions enslaved mechs were forced to charge blindly into the abyss, propelled by fear and the ticking explosive collars around their necks.
Neo watched the incoming storm of fire and rusted metal from his observation deck with absolute indifference.
Them, all of a sudden he simply raised a single hand.
Vaelar, standing at the vanguard of the Zenith drop troops, understood.
"Alrigth. Deploy the Bulwarks, Men!" he barked on the communication channels.
Soon, thousands of dwarven shock troopers and heavily armored human infantry hurled the small, metallic cubes of the Granite Nova Bulwarks into the void.
The moment the cubes left their hands, they violently expanded, forming a massive, interconnected wall of cosmic stone and hard light formed instantly in the path of the Ironblood onslaught.
The red plasma and kinetic shells slammed into the Bulwarks.
However, instead of breaking, the hard light domes absorbed every single ounce of the kinetic momentum. The impenetrable wall glowed brighter and brighter, soaking up the fury of an entire sector.
"Now return them where they came from," Vaelar ordered coldly.
His order was obeyed without any delay.
BUZZZZZ!
The Granite Nova Bulwarks released the stored energy in a single, devastating solar shockwave.
The front lines of the Ironblood heavy dreadnoughts were instantly vaporized.
And the rusted mechs of the penal battalions were violently thrown back, their formations completely shattered by the shockwave without suffering fatal casualties.
Before the enemy could recover, Vaelar and his vanguard charged.
They drew their Adamantite Starblades.
The gravity dampeners within the hilts deactivated upon impact.
A single swing from a Zenith foot soldier carried the physical mass of a falling moon.
The supposedly unbreakable kinetic shields of the Ironblood dreadnoughts shattered like brittle ice beneath the crushing weight of the cosmic swords.
The heavy cruisers were cleaved entirely in half by infantry units.
Meanwhile, hidden perfectly within the cloaked stealth frigates orbiting high above the chaos, Aeliana and her elven rangers took aim.
"Do not waste ammunition on the enslaved meat shields. Target the slave masters. Cut the head off the snake if you need to."
"""Yes, Commander!"""
Thousands of Beastcore Piercers fired in absolute silence.
From the outer hull of the cloaked stealth frigates, it looked like a sudden meteor shower of brilliant blue light.
The sentient mana projectiles streaked across the dark void of the battlefield, completely bypassing the chaotic melee between Vaelar’s vanguard and the dreadnoughts.
Aeliana watched through her sniper scope, her Beyonder core pulsing in sync with her weapon.
"Track the command aura signatures. Ignore the grunts. Hunt the Tier 4 Overseers." she whispered into the comms.
The blue projectiles did exactly that. They phased effortlessly through the thick, multilayered kinetic plating of the Ironblood command ships. Inside the heavily fortified bunkers, the elite Ironblood commanders were frantically barking orders while their hands gripping the remote detonators for the slaves’ explosive collars.
They never even saw the strike coming.
The sentient mana pierced their chests with surgical precision. There was no blood or explosion, just the instant, absolute severing of their life force.
Those elite commanders in heavy combat mechs simply slumped forward in their command thrones, their eyes rolling back into their skulls as their internal mana cores shattered like fragile glass.
Out in the cold vacuum of space, a miraculous shift occurred. The millions of penal legionnaires, slaves forced to charge blindly into the Zenith Vanguard, suddenly stopped.
The blinking red lights on their explosive collars, turned a dull, lifeless grey. The dead man’s switch had been completely overridden by the Beastcore Piercers’ unique disruption effect.
Inside the cramped cockpits of the rusted mass produced mechs, slaves who had closed their eyes in anticipation of a fiery death slowly opened them.
"The collars...The collars are dead! The overseers are dead!" a beastkin pilot muttered over the open penal comms channel with mad disbelief.
Meanwhile, the terrified momentum of the slave army vanished, replaced instantly by decades of suppressed rage.
So instead of attacking the Zenith Empire’s glowing Vanguard, the millions of rusted mechs abruptly spun around in zero gravity.
They ignited their thrusters and charged back toward the remaining Ironblood dreadnoughts, tearing into their former captors with suicidal fury.
Aboard the Ironblood flagship, General Gorath watched his entire frontline disintegrate into an uncontrollable mutiny.
His heavily armored jaw clenched in terror.
Viscount Azekin had severely underestimated this enemy.
"Retreat My slaves! Pull all remaining dreadnoughts behind the planetary defense barrier! Let the geothermal shield absorb their advance while we charge the main cannons!"
Buzz! Buzz!
The surviving Ironblood ships desperately fired their thrusters, attempting to flee back toward the safety of the glowing blue cage surrounding Noman Prime.
From the observation deck of the Celestial Vanguard, Emperor Neo’s golden eyes tracked the retreating cowards.
A cold smirk graced his lips. "Nyxaris. They think their cage will save them. Break the glass."
"With pleasure, Your Majesty."
On the left wing of the Zenith fleet, Dark Mage Nyxaris hovered in the void, completely unbothered by the vacuum of space.
Shadows continuously leaked from her ornate purple robes, swirling around her like a living hungry abyss.
She then raised her pale hand, commanding her elite battalion of battle mages.
They aimed the heavy Voidfire Annihilators directly downward at the retreating fleet and the massive planet below.
"Fire."
Thick, violent beams of primordial fire mixed with pure, twisting spatial distortion erupted from the muzzles of the heavy cannons.
Buzzz! Buzzz! Booom!
The blasts bypassed the fleeing ships entirely, striking the massive geothermal planetary shield with apocalyptic world ending force.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The localized spatial vacuums generated by the Annihilators instantly devoured the shield’s kinetic energy, while the primordial eternal flame melted the magical grid itself.
CRACK!
The impenetrable absolute defense of the Noman Sector, powered by the core of an entire planet, completely splintered apart in mere seconds.
Down in the royal district, Viscount Azekin Dyefrost stumbled backward as he watched in paralyzing horror.
"I’m doomed, aren’t I?"
