Building The First Adventurer Guild In Another World
Chapter 327: SurvivalThe devastated city had transformed entirely into a battlefield, engulfed in bloodshed and destruction. In the distance, broken towers continued to collapse while shockwaves from the fierce confrontation between Valeria and Riven reverberated throughout the area incessantly.
Thick plumes of smoke ascended into the sky, flames spread across shattered streets, and the ground was riddled with cracks, craters, discarded weapons, and lifeless bodies. Desperation permeated every corner as individuals fought valiantly for their survival.
The clashing of metal echoed through the air; sparks erupted as blades met, blood splattered against ruined walls, and the cacophony of screams and roars resonated endlessly amidst the devastation. This was no mere skirmish between factions; it was war, an authentic conflict where even the slightest misstep could result in death within seconds.
In contrast to Sage, Gregor, Vanthrice, Brutus, and others who wielded power far surpassing that of ordinary Adventurers, lower-ranked Guild members were beginning to falter significantly.
Their armor bore signs of damage; many were bleeding profusely, and exhaustion was evident on their faces. Some sported cuts along their shoulders while others limped from fractured bones or bruised limbs. Despite these injuries, no one dared to halt their movements; they all understood one fundamental truth: stopping meant certain death.
A young Adventurer named Daren struggled to block a sword strike with trembling hands as sparks flew between their blades. The force of impact dragged his feet backward across broken stone while pain coursed through both arms.
Before he could regain his composure, an adversary clad in black suddenly lunged at him from the side with a curved dagger aimed directly at his throat. Daren’s eyes widened in terror as time slipped away for him to evade properly. Just before the dagger reached its mark, a deafening explosion erupted nearby.
BOOOOM!
A fireball struck the assailant from the side and hurled him across the ravaged street. Flames erupted outward as fragments of debris scattered everywhere. Daren quickly turned his head to see Sage standing atop a collapsed building in the distance with his Mage Staff raised high above him. Three enormous magic circles rotated around Sage as lightning flashed erratically through the darkened sky.
"Focus!" Sage shouted emphatically from afar while another spell began forming around him. "If you lose concentration here then you die!"
Daren swallowed hard before gritting his teeth and tightening his grip on his sword once more.
"Y-yes Guildmaster!"
As soon as he responded affirmatively, yet another enemy charged toward him again and combat resumed immediately.
Not far off, several Guild Adventurers found themselves overwhelmed by a larger opposing group whose fighters displayed greater experience and coordination than they did. Their formation disintegrated rapidly; one female Warrior wielding a shield blocked a heavy axe strike only for another enemy to appear behind her suddenly and slash deeply across her back.
Blood sprayed across the battlefield as a woman cried out in pain, collapsing to one knee.
"Look out!"
Two nearby Adventurers rushed forward, desperately trying to shield her from incoming attacks.
"Get back!" one shouted. "Protect the injured!"
Chaos reigned around them; there was no room to breathe or think clearly. Everyone was swinging their weapons, fighting just to survive the next strike. Suddenly, one of the Guild Warriors screamed as a deep stab wound tore into his thigh. He stumbled backward, pale and frantic, attempting to stem the flow of blood with one hand. Before the enemy could finish him off, a gigantic hammer came crashing down from above.
BOOOOOOM!
The ground erupted violently as Brutus landed heavily between both sides like a falling mountain. The enemy fighter who had targeted the injured Adventurer was instantly reduced to bloody pulp, while nearby foes were thrown back by the shockwave.
Dust and debris filled the air as Brutus rose from the crater, resting his massive hammer over one shoulder. His armor bore cracks and bloodstains, but his imposing figure instilled a sense of security in those around him.
"You lot really can’t go five minutes without causing trouble, can you?" Brutus bellowed while rolling his shoulders.
Several Guild members visibly relaxed at his presence.
"Brutus!" they exclaimed in relief. "Thank the gods!"
Brutus snorted before swinging his hammer sideways with tremendous force.
BANG!
An enemy attempting to sneak up behind him exploded into pieces upon impact.
"Stop slacking off!" he roared. "This is still a battlefield!"
The surrounding Guild members straightened up immediately.
Meanwhile, Caelis moved quietly through the chaos beside Brutus. Despite having lost an arm earlier due to a Guild attack, he maintained calm and precise movements. Unlike Brutus’s wild fighting style, Caelis struck with perfect timing and efficiency, his spear flashing repeatedly as enemies fell before they even realized what had happened.
Suddenly, a black-clad fighter lunged toward Brutus’s blind spot with a spear aimed directly at his exposed side. Just as Brutus began to react, Caelis appeared beside the attacker.
SHING!
A sharp silver flash sliced through the air. The enemy froze for an instant before blood sprayed from his neck.
Thud.
The body crumpled heavily onto the ground. Caelis calmly wiped blood from his sword without turning around and remarked coolly, "You leave too many openings."
Brutus grinned roughly while smashing another foe aside with one hammer strike.
"And yet you keep following me."
Caelis sighed helplessly. "Because if I don’t, you’ll probably die doing something reckless."
Brutus burst into laughter while enemies glared at them in frustration.
Nearby, Mina charged through the battlefield like a fierce little monster. Despite her small stature, each swing of her massive shield unleashed a terrifying force. One enemy was smashed directly into a wall, while another was sent flying dozens of meters through the air.
"Get out of the way!" Mina shouted angrily as she surged forward again.
BOOOOM!
Her shield slammed into the ground, sending several enemies tumbling backward all at once. Unlike before, when she treated battles like games, Mina’s face now reflected seriousness and anger; she could see Guild members getting hurt around her.
Suddenly, a young Adventurer collapsed nearby, a deep wound across his chest. Mina’s eyes widened in alarm.
"Big brother!"
Without hesitation, she rushed over at full speed, smashing aside an incoming attacker with her shield before kneeling beside the injured Adventurer. He coughed weakly, blood trickling from his lips as he forced out a painful smile.
"I... I’m still alive..."
Mina bit her lip tightly and quickly dragged him toward safer ground. "Don’t die, okay?!"
The young man nodded weakly, struggling to stay conscious. Meanwhile, Sage stood atop a crumbling tower, casting devastating spells across the battlefield. Gigantic magic circles appeared around him continuously as fire, lightning, and wind swept through the ruined city like natural disasters.
BOOOOOM!
A massive fire explosion engulfed an entire street.
CRACKLE!
Lightning bolts pierced through enemy formations in an instant.
SHIIIIING! Enormous wind blades sliced through rubble and enemies alike. Each spell Sage conjured carried overwhelming destructive power that far surpassed typical Mage standards.
Even basic spells became terrifying weapons in his hands due to his Divine Grade Mana Veins and mastery over Mana Overlord control. He moved his fingers with calm precision as spells erupted one after another around the battlefield with barely any delay between them.
Lower-ranked Adventurers couldn’t help but feel awestruck whenever they glanced toward Sage; the pressure and devastation surrounding him felt entirely different from what they had experienced before. However, even with Sage’s relentless support, many were still struggling because this battlefield was simply too vast, he couldn’t protect everyone at once.
One Guild member lost focus while watching Sage’s battle and nearly had his head sliced off by an incoming enemy. Just then, Gregor flashed past like a green streak of light.
SHIIIIING!
A gigantic compressed wind blade shot forward and instantly cleaved three enemies apart. Blood sprayed everywhere as Gregor landed heavily nearby with bloodshot eyes and an angry expression.
"Focus on your own damn fights!" he shouted furiously. "If you keep getting distracted, you’ll just become dead weight!"
The Adventurers nodded nervously in response. "Yes!"
Gregor clicked his tongue before vanishing again in another burst of green wind.
The battle dragged on, stretching time into what felt like an eternity. Rubble littered the streets, and bodies lay strewn across the devastated cityscape.
The Guild Adventurers were worn out, both mentally and physically, yet none of them chose to retreat. They clenched their jaws and pressed on, despite the heavy burden of fear, pain, and exhaustion weighing down on them.
They had come to a stark realization: this was no game. This wasn’t just a fun adventure; it was war. People lost their lives in war. If they wanted to survive this Vault, they had to keep fighting, no matter how tired or scared they felt.
Gradually, the battlefield began to stabilize. With Sage providing crucial support, Gregor unleashing his destructive attacks, Vanthrice executing lethal spear techniques, Brutus and Caelis holding one side of the fight, and Mina relentlessly charging through enemy ranks, the Guild members finally regained control over their formation.
The earlier chaos started to fade away as the collapsing lines steadied. Wounded comrades were pulled back to safer areas while the remaining Guild members regrouped and pushed forward once more.
Though the battlefield remained brutal and the threat of casualties still loomed large, there was a shift in momentum:
The Adventurers was no longer overwhelmed.
