Building The First Adventurer Guild In Another World
Chapter 346: Iron Storm [ 2 ]The sound echoed across the hall as their upper bodies crushed inward, and before their broken frames could fall, Valeria spun on her heel and used her broadsword like a guillotine, cutting through three spear golems at the waist in one clean red arc.
Above the battlefield, Sage continued trying to maintain the looting operation, but the pressure had changed completely.
The crossbow golems forced him to split his attention between catching treasures and shielding the team.
Every time a bubble cracked open, he had to guide its contents down carefully while also monitoring the lines of fire below. His Aetheric Insight Eyes tracked the mana charging inside each crossbow, allowing him to predict when they were about to shoot, yet prediction did not make the situation safe.
It only gave them seconds. Lyana worked with him perfectly, her green vines whipping through the air to reposition adventurers whenever Sage shouted a direction. Gregor and Brutus stopped bursting bubbles recklessly and began using their weapons to knock away falling debris from broken pillars, while Caelis coordinated the lower team to pull treasure piles farther away from the collapsing sections of the hall.
The fast assault golems made everything worse. They darted across the battlefield in flickers of gold, using short bursts of mana to leap from pillar to pillar and wall to wall.
Some tried to bypass Valeria entirely and head toward Sage’s group in the air, their arm blades glowing with sharp light as they ran along the sides of pillars like insects climbing a wall.
Valeria noticed them instantly. Her foot struck the ground, cracking the marble beneath her, and her body shot upward in a crimson blur that intercepted the first assault golem halfway up a pillar. She struck it with the flat of her sword so hard that its body folded around the blade before exploding into fragments. Another golem leaped past her toward Lyana, only for Valeria to appear above it and stomp its head downward.
The guardian crashed into the floor like a meteor, leaving a deep crater and a ring of shattered golden parts.
Mina, who had been clinging to one of Lyana’s vines while reaching for a small bubble of crystals, suddenly heard a sharp whining sound.
Her golden eyes widened as she looked to her side and saw one of the crossbow golems below turning its weapon toward her. The rune bolt inside the weapon glowed brighter and brighter, and for a briefsecond, Mina’s entire body went cold.
She knew she could not dodge in the air. Lyana’s vine had already stretched to its limit. Sage was too far away, his hands busy holding back a collapsing treasure bubble that had begun spilling dangerous artifacts in every direction. Mina’s fingers tightened around the vine as the crossbow fired, the massive bolt tearing through the air toward her with enough force to flatten everything in its path.
"Mina!" Sage shouted, his voice filled with alarm.
The bolt was already there. A crimson flash appeared between Mina and death. Valeria materialized in midair directly in front of the massive projectile, her hair whipping violently behind her as her blood aura coated the entire edge of her broadsword.
She did not brace herself. She did not dodge. She simply swung. Her crimson blade met the golden bolt head-on, and the impact erupted in a deafening BOOM that shook every floating bubble around them.
The enormous projectile split cleanly down the middle, both halves flying past Mina on either side before smashing into the far wall and exploding into golden shrapnel. Mina stared at Valeria with wide eyes, her small face pale, her fingers still locked around the vine so tightly that her knuckles had turned white.
Valeria glanced back at her. "Pay attention."
Mina swallowed hard and nodded quickly.
"Y-yes, big sister."
Valeria fell back toward the battlefield like a red comet, landing directly on top of the crossbow golem that had fired the shot. Her boots crushed its head into its chest, and her sword followed a heartbeat later, splitting the entire guardian from shoulder to waist.
The golem collapsed in two sparking halves, but Valeria did not stop there. Her aura flared brighter as she charged into the remaining crossbow line, cutting through weapons, arms, cores, and torsos with terrifying efficiency.
Every swing created another explosion of metal. Every punch caved in another chest. Every step left cracks across the marblefloor.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The lower hall became a storm of crimson movement and golden destruction as Valeria dismantled the second wave with overwhelming force.
The spear golems tried one final coordinated charge. Nearly twenty of them surrounded her at once, their weapons glowing so brightly that their tips looked like stars, but Valeria lowered her sword and let the blood aura around her body expand.
The crimson mist rolled outward, covering the floor around her feet before wrapping around the blade. When the spears thrust toward her, she moved faster than sight.
To the others, it looked as if several Valerias appeared at once across the battlefield, each one completing a different strike before vanishing. A spear arm flew. A head shattered. A core exploded. A torso split apart. Within seconds, the entire formation collapsed into scrap.
The fast assault golems attempted to retreat and reposition, but Valeria chased them down with ruthless precision, appearing beside each one and destroying it before it could build momentum. One was punched through the chest.
Another was kicked into a pillar hard enough to flatten its body. A third tried to leap toward the upper bubbles, but her sword caught it mid-flight and turned it into a rain of broken golden plates.
When the final guardian of the second wave fell, the treasury became strangely quiet for several breaths. The floor below was almost unrecognizable.
Broken crossbows the size of carriages lay twisted among severed spear shafts, shattered shields, crushed cores, and piles of golden limbs. Several pillars had been destroyed or badly damaged, leaving entire sections of the hall unstable.
Chunks of ceiling decoration had fallen, marble slabs had cracked, and the once-clean treasury now looked as though an iron storm had torn through it. Valeria stood alone among the wreckage, her broadsword resting at her side, her armor dusty but barely damaged, her face still calm as though she had only finished warming up.
Above her, Sage and the others stared in silence, their earlier fear slowly shifting into awe once again.
Brutus exhaled heavily. "She really is dog walking them."
Gregor nodded stiffly. "Those things were built to kill armies, and she is treating them like training equipment."
Mina’s voice trembled slightly, though pride still shone in her eyes. "Big sister is scary... but cool."
Sage did not smile. His gaze had already shifted toward the walls, where the runes were beginning to flare again. He could feel it now, the treasury was not done. In fact, it felt as if the destruction of the second wave had only forced the ancient defense system to take them more seriously.
A heavy groan echoed from several directions at once. The golden doors thathad opened before were not the only gates in the hall. Along the far walls, beneath broken arches and behind massive pillars, more sealed entrances began to awaken.
One after another, their runes lit up with deeper, darker gold, and the mana pressure pouring from behind them was heavier than anything the first two waves had released.
Valeria slowly raised her sword. The first new gate opened, then the second, then the third and behind those opening gates, larger shadows began to move.
