Chapter 27: Chapter 26: Let It Out
In the year MM-15 during the hot afternoon in a barren field, fifteen year old Caesar sat on the ground along with other female students wearing the same school uniform sports wear.
The school sports wear consisted of a white short sleeve shirt with blue accents.
Round their waists were blue bloomers and on their ankles and feet were white socks and white sneakers.
In front of them was a fair skinned female beastfolk teacher with brown hair wearing a purple long sleeve top, black joggers with yellow accents round her lower body and white sneakers round her feet.
"Listen up! Our school has never won an inter-school competition for the girls football game!" The teacher said while pacing round the girls, "No matter how hard we tried, no matter how hard we trained, we keep getting second and third place, and do you know why?
It’s because we are passive! We try to play like saints! We try to play like there are no stakes when the stakes there is the school’s name, but no more!"
"That ends today." The female teacher said as she finally stood in one spot, "We’ve been playing like saints when we should have been playing like monsters.
We’ve been letting them walk all over us when it should be the other way around.
Passiveness doesn’t get people far. Passiveness doesn’t win matches. Skill, strength, determination, strategic planning and ruthlessness does."
"I can sense some of you have that monster instinct buried deep in you but for some reason, you refuse to let it out." The teacher continued as Caesar tilted her head down, "I’m not saying you should have no sportsmanship. I’m not saying you should disregard the rules or be a scum.
All I’m saying is you must not give a damn who you run through. Your enemies don’t give a damn so why should you?"
"Once you step into that field, you must be ready to devour your opponents." The teacher said as she glanced at Caesar, "Let that hunger to win take hold of you.
I want a team of beasts who will do nothing but make the enemies wet themselves as soon as they step into the same area with you!"
"I want a team that will do nothing but hand out PTSDs to their opponents by giving a strong taste of crushing defeat!" The teacher said with a dark grin, "I want a team that are filled with nothing but monsters and devils in the field.
But to do that, you have to let them out."
"You hear me?!" The teacher said as she gritted her teeth, "Unleash the monster!"
"LET! THE DEVIL! OUT!!!" The teacher yelled as veins pulsed round her face.
Currently in the year MM-20, early in the morning at 5:00 am, Caesar’s alarm buzzed sharply until Caesar’s arm reached out to turn it off.
With a sharp inhale, Caesar’s eyes snapped open and she got up from her bed and walked towards the bathroom.
Arriving at the sink, Caesar opened the tap, allowing the water to rush out before splashing some on her face.
Caesar then stared at the mirror with her plain expression for some time before she exhaled and turned off the tap.
Moments later, Caesar began her workouts, from pushups to sit ups to squats to jumping jacks. Each Caesar struggled to execute properly without falling out or tumbling.
While Caesar sat on the ground, trying to gain herself, she sighted an old ceiling log which made her narrow her eyes and a few seconds later, Caesar performed her pull-ups with it but struggled to raise herself high.
After time had gone, Caesar decided to go to the bathroom, shave, have her bath and brush her teeth before dressing up and leaving for work.
Later at the Balland and Barnes Bakery, Caesar wiped the flour off the counter, she briefly scanned the environment before tilting her head down.
"Second day and Balland still hasn’t shown up." Caesar said in her mind, "He really meant it when he said he was going to be absent till he resolves the ’issues’. Whatever they are... If they involve me... I just hope he is doing alright."
"Caesar!" A feminine voice called.
Caesar turned to the direction of the voice and saw the person to be a dark skinned beastfolk woman with a long curtain bang white hair with a snow leopard ears and spots on her hair, walking towards her (Caesar).
"Gura?" Caesar said, "Is...There a problem?"
"Not really." Gura said as she stood in front of Caesar, "Uhm... I just wanted to know if you know anything about Balland’s issues."
"No. Why?" Caesar asked.
"You know... Because you and Balland have been talking with each other for some time." Gura answered, "When I even called him today to ask if he was going to come,he told me that right now he doesn’t want any phone calls because the issues are seriously important."
"So what does that have to do with me?" Caesar asked.
"Like I said earlier, you and Balland have been talking with each other for some time... Especially since the... You know... The EBW thing." Gura answered.
Caesar stayed quiet for a moment and replied.
"No. I haven’t seen him since then.
I didn’t know anything about the issues until you announced it yesterday."
"So you know nothing?" Gura asked, "Nothing at all?"
"No." Caesar answered.
"Now if you excuse me." Caesar continued as she resumed her work.
Gura on the other hand, glared at Caesar and subtly clenched her fists.
Later in the afternoon, within the ring of the Sanity gym, Caesar stretched her arms while Cedric popped his neck.
"So, usurper, are you ready to begin?" Cedric asked.
"Usurper?" Caesar asked.
"Just a little nickname I picked up yesterday." Cedric replied, "Do you remember AJ Zero?"
"Who?" Caesar asked with an arched brow.
"The guy who came here yesterday during your training." Cedric answered.
"You mean the blonde nervous wreck that came here yesterday?" Caesar asked.
"Yes." Cedric answered, "I learnt from him that the talents are calling you an usurper."
"You don’t say." Caesar said, "Anyway the name sounds cool but I didn’t come for cool nicknames."
"Sure... You didn’t." Cedric said, "Okay, now to the lessons. Yesterday I trained you on the brawling and chain violence. Taught what to do and what not to do... And you tried to poke my eyes."
"So we are going to do the same thing again... But please don’t pull the stunt you tried to pull yesterday." Cedric said as he twirled his wrist.
Caesar nodded her head and immediately took her stance.
As the two locked eyes with each other, Cedric observed Caesar’s stance and spoke in his heart.
"Hmmm. Not bad. Her stance looks good. Not a single weakness in there, but a stance isn’t enough. Are you going to be predictable or not?"
Caesar then lunged towards Cedric and crouched low before she hurled her fist towards his face.
"Opening with a punch. Same as yesterday." Cedric said within as he moved his head back to avoid the blow, "Has she not-?"
Caesar immediately pulled her arm back which caught Cedric a little off guard.
"A feint? Again?"
However, Cedric felt a sharp pain on his leg and as soon as he looked down, he saw Caesar had stamped her right foot on his right leg.
Caesar then slammed her skull against the jaw of Cedric which made him throw his head back as he grunted in pain.
Caesar then moved behind Cedric, locked her arms round his midsection, raised him a bit from the canvas before she hastily twisted and dropped Cedric chest-first on the mat.
As Caesar laid on top of Cedric’s back while maintaining her grip on his belly, Cedric chuckled.
"Now that was unexpected and very brawler-like." Cedric said, "The punch feint, the foot stamp, headbutt and the drop was very good.
You can let go now."
Caesar released her grip on Cedric and stood on her feet, allowing Cedric to stand on his.
Cedric turned his gaze towards Caesar and spoke
"Say... Those moves, where you did you learn them?"
"From the underground mixed brawlers show I watched yesterday. Just happened to mix them up." Caesar answered, "After all, you taught yesterday that being a brawler doesn’t mean you should be predictable."
"So you picked from other places and used them here? Not bad. Not bad really." Cedric said.
"So you are not against it?" Caesar asked.
"I wasn’t against the eye-poke attempt, yesterday, was I? The only thing I advised was not to try it in a standard match." Cedric replied, "Picking from other places is good but remember as much as you are a brawler class, you are also an ero-wrestler, so don’t pick too much from other places, alright?"
Caesar nodded her head in response and Cedric smiled.
"Alright then. Let’s go again." Cedric said.
Caesar took her stance again and locked eyes with Cedric for some seconds.
Rather than starting with a punch, Caesar swung her leg on Cedric’s ankle but Cedric quickly moved his leg towards the kick to reduce the impact.
Caesar then hurled her fist towards his face but Cedric stepped back to evade.
As soon as Cedric evaded the punch, he caught sight of Caesar crouching low to tackle but Cedric halted her attempt with a swift knee to the jaw, causing her to fall on her back.
"Not bad." Cedric said while Caesar was holding her jaw, "You weren’t really predictable but your speed... It was... Uh..."
"Selling you out." Cedric continued as he rubbed his palm on his head, "That’s another thing we will have to work on.
When you fought Nero, the main times you managed to land some fast hits was when he was careless and when you went a little crazy with the bite to the arm.
Hell, I too thought that punch was a bullet."
"To the average joe, you are not slow but to a trained fighter, you’re moving somewhat sluggishly." Cedric said as Caesar was on all fours.
Cedric then extended his arm towards Caesar and Caesar took it and was hauled back to her feet.
"But as for predictability, you are showing to have improved." Cedric said "So we need to work on your movement speed, combat speed and teach you a couple of other things."
Cedric stayed quiet for a moment then narrowed his eyes.
"I want you to try something for me." Cedric said.
"What’s that?" Caesar asked.
Cedric took a couple of steps back away from and took a quick hop.
"This." Cedric said as he performed a super kick on the thin air.
Cedric then brought down his leg and turned his gaze towards Caesar.
"A superkick." Cedric continued, "I want you to do it. I need to confirm something."
Caesar stared at Cedric for some seconds before she exhaled.
Caesar took a couple of steps back and took a quick hop before performing the super kick.
"Woah!" Caesar said at the moment she fell towards the canvas after performing the kick.
"I see. So that’s another problem." Cedric said, "Your base is unstable as well. Looks like we got a lot to fix here.
Let’s just hope we can do this before the others I have to train arrives."
Time went on as Cedric continued to train Caesar, Caesar performed a superkick with her leg snapping faster in an upward manner but her body tilted too far back.
"No,no,no. Posture." Cedric said with both arms crossed, "You’re kicking like you want to fall. Your leg isn’t the problem. Your balance is.
Tighten your core and go again."
Later, Cedric locked arms with Caesar and chuckled.
"Yeah! Now that’s more like it!" Cedric said as their forearms grinded while the duo leaned into each other.
Caesar gritted her teeth and growled as she pushed back.
Another scene takes place as Cedric swiftly wrapped his arms round Caesar’s midsection.
Caesar placed her hands on Cedric’s wrists as she maniacally struggled to break free.
"Relax." Cedric said, "If this was an actual match, panicking like this will get you folded."
Caesar then stopped and Cedric continued.
"Breathe. Drop your weight... Feel the grip before you fight it."
Another scene takes as Cedric rolled backwards across the canvas and stood on one knee which made Caesar stare at him with an arched brow.
"One of the things to know is that you’re not always gonna stand pretty." Cedric said, "Movements are one of the key foundations in a wrestler especially a brawler type.
Go ahead and do it."
Another scene takes place again as Caesar rebounded off the ropes and ran back towards Cedric but Cedric shook his head in an unimpressed manner.
Another scene takes place once again as Caesar was throwing punches and kicks in thin air.
Her movements were faster and sharper which made Cedric nod his head while both arms were round his waist.
"Remember: it’s not just to throw limbs. Breathing and timing matters as well." Cedric said.
Time had past and Caesar was laying on the mat, breathing heavily while Cedric stared down at her from afar and chuckled.
"You did well. You did very well!" Cedric said as he placed his arms on his waists, "Now at least I know I can move to the next parts on Monday."
"Monday? I really wanted to come tomorrow." Caesar said as she moved her gaze to Cedric.
"Yeah, I don’t open on Sundays." Cedric replied, "Only from Mondays to Saturdays."
"Damn." Caesar said as she laid her head back on the canvas.
"I understand you really want to improve but... Do you know what you can do?" Cedric asked, "Use that Sunday to perfect yourself on what we trained and even go beyond it like you did yesterday by learning the U.M.B fights.
That way, you can improve yourself without always relying me.
After all, that’s how many students surpass their teachers."
"Already thought of that." Caesar replied.
"Mhmm. Can I give another advice?" Cedric asked.
"Uh... Sure." Caesar answered.
"Whenever you step into the ring, do not doubt yourself." Cedric said.
"Hm?" Caesar said as she returned her gaze back to Cedric.
"Do not second guess yourself. I’m not saying you should act mindlessly or be overconfident but do not think yourself incapable in the ring." Cedric said, "Self doubt hinders one’s potential.
Also if you step into the ring, you’ll need to be as ruthless possible."
"I know why I’m saying this." Cedric continued as he walked towards the turnbuckle.
"I told you before that majority of the roster that are in EBW are desperate . Some entered to either look after someone or to put food on their table because they got nowhere else to go and that’s exactly why you should be ruthless." Cedric said as he leaned against the turnbuckle, "Many of them don’t care how far they are willing to go to secure their next pay and spotlight.
The more the wins, the higher their chances of pays and recognition increases.
Some are willing and have even become monsters just to raise their marketability.
I myself am one of them."
"It’s a dog eat dog in that company." Cedric said as he turned his face away, "And to make matters worse, you are terribly hated in both the men and women’s locker room because of how you got in, so believe me if they get into the ring with you, they will tear you apart."
"I’m aware." Caesar’s voice sounded.
"Hm?" Cedric said as he turned his sight towards her.
"Im aware of what I must do. I’m aware of what I must become to survive." Caesar continued while staring at the ceiling, "Who I must become to rule."
"Unleash the monster, right?" Caesar asked as Cedric slightly tilted his head.
"Yeah. Unleash that monster." Caesar said as she extended her palm forward, "Let it out."
Caesar then closed her hand into a fist.
"And I’m willing to become that person to do that."
