Caesar's Moon

Chapter 62 - 61: Usurper

Chapter 62: Chapter 61: Usurper

While Caesar sat in a bus alongside a couple of her flyer coworkers, wearing the white promotional shirt of Dazzle magazine along with the cap, Caesar stared at the window and had a recollection of earlier.

In her remembrance as Caesar was walking on the road, looking at what to order on her phone, she saw on her screen a laptop with neon attachments on it which led her to slightly tilt her head.

Caesar then clicked on her screen a few times before placing the phone in her pocket. However as soon as she placed it, her phone rang, leading her to pick it up and see the name that appeared on her screen was written "Short stick drunkard".

Without reluctance, Caesar answered the call and placed the phone on her ear.

"Sup?" Caesar said.

"Caesar! Where are you? You’re late!" The masculine voice sounded through the phone.

"Hm?" Caesar said in confusion.

"Have you forgotten? Today is the day we are supposed to do our personal interviews with the Dazzle magazine!" The masculine voice said.

Caesar’s eyes immediately widened in panic after being reminded.

"Shit! Where are you guys now?" Caesar asked.

"Where do you think we usually are? Right now we are still waiting for you at the bus." The voice answered.

"Alright, just hang on. I’ll get there as fast as I can." Caesar said.

After the recollection, Caesar sighed and turned to her opposite direction, only to spot the fair skinned short human coworker sipping alcohol from a small bottle.

The man took notice of Caesar’s blank face before his eyes shifted back to the alcohol he was taking.

"It’s only a few sips." The short man said.

"Sure. Whatever you say." Caesar said.

"We’re getting close." The dark skinned coworker with the yellow and black dreadlocks said.

"I’m still wondering how we are going to explain this to the boss of the Dazzle magazine." Caesar said as she turned her face away, "How are we gonna tell her that our boss Mr Aldis Pulpsack got his nuts violated and ended up comatose by an angry big guy with a steel boot all because our dumbass coworker, Skhini, went to throw flyers into his speeding car?"

"Well... We are just going to tell her." The fair skinned female beastfolk with cheetah ears and stripes on her head answered, "It’s not like there is much we can do."

"Yeah... Not much we can do." Caesar said as she brought her head down.

Minutes later as they were walking in the hallway, the flyer crew came across the boss of the magazine, Mary Dazzle who was wearing a white office top, white blazer, white office skirt, white heels and white tie.

"Good afternoon, Mrs Dazzle." The dark skinned male with the dual colored dreadlocks said.

"Good afternoon, sir." Mary Dazzle said with a smile, "Welcome to Dazzle magazine."

Mary Dazzle observed the number of the crews behind the man and continued speaking.

"I remember inviting only four for an interview." Mary said.

"Sorry about that. Some things came up so they had to come with us.. Well not the entire crew... Just a few. But don’t worry, you won’t be interviewing them, only the ones who were invited." The dark skinned man replied.

"Good." Mary said, "But since the crew is here, where is your boss, Aldis?"

The flyer crew behind the man subtly gave each other uneasy glances until the dark skinned man answered.

"He... Had an accident."

"Accident?" Mary asked with a disturbed expression, "What kind? Is he alright?"

"He survived but when he’ll recover... That... Remains unclear." The dark skinned man said.

Mary stayed silent for a while before she sighed.

"How unfortunate. I was really looking to his interview tomorrow." Mary said, "Send my condolences to his fiancee. I cannot imagine what she’ll be going through."

"We will." The dark skinned man said.

"Alright then, time for your personal interviews. The ones that were invited, of course." Mary said.

Mary turned her back and walked away.

The dark skinned man looked over his shoulder to gaze at the crew and nodded his head.

As soon as the man started walking forward, the short man, the female beastfolk with cheetah spots and Caesar followed after him.

Moments later, during the interview of the dark skinned man who was sitting on a chair while having both arms crossed.

"It is a pleasure promoting this company. It is one of the best places I have been to and I hope we can continue working together." The man said.

In the next interview which was of the female beastfolk with the cheetah spots, she was smiling nervously while her ears flattened.

"Yeah, Dazzle Magazine is pretty good. The boss herself is a wonderful woman. A generous person and it is no wonder that the company is and will continue to thrive because of her leadership." The female beastfolk said.

The female then raised both of her thumbs and let out a chuckle which followed with a nervous grin.

On the next interview, it was with the fair skinned short man who was smiling confidently.

"Dazzle Magazine? Hah! It’s a rare gem that has been discovered!" The man said, "Other magazines should be put on alert with this one because it’s gonna climb the top. And not just climb it, its gonna dominate, too.

You guys just wait and see-"

Suddenly the short man’s phone rang out loud in his pocket, which made the man halt for a moment. As the ringing continued, the man raised his index finger and spoke.

"Hold on, please."

The man drew out his phone and placed it on his ear.

"Hello?" The man said, "Baby, please. I’m on an interview. A very very important one."

Muffled sounds were made through the phone and the man replied.

"No, I’m not owing that hag. I paid her for all her drinks."

As the man was talking, Mary Dazzle turned her sights to the flyer crew which made some of them to glance back at her uncomfortably.

"What? I didn’t sleep with that woman!" The man replied the person on the phone.

The muffled sounds however grew louder from the phone.

"IT WAS ONLY THE TIP!" The man said as veins pulsed round his scleras, "HOW COULD SHE GET PREGNANT FROM THE TIP?!?!"

Some of the flyer crew members stared in disbelief. Some shook their heads. Some eyes twitched and some even facepalmed themselves.

Caesar on the other hand was staring with a blank face while her ears flattened.

"I AIN’T THE FATHER OF THAT CHILD!" The man’s voice sounded.

Finally during Caesar’s interview, Caesar maintained her plain expression and was speaking.

"I believe this company has what it takes to stand out among other magazine companies. It’s decent and has great leadership.

In a few years to come, everyone will be looking at Dazzle just to be featured in either the cover of their magazines or one of their pages."

"That’s good. Now, we have one more question to ask." A masculine voice sounded.

"Hm? Okay, sure." Caesar replied.

"There was a video of you that went viral on Wednesday. The one that happened in the cafe with a guy named Damien Bane." The voice said, "That video drew many eyes to ... Ero-wrestling and most especially to you and your match yesterday.

Do you mind telling us about your life and thoughts about ero-wrestling, EBW and your affiliations with the Mizukais?"

As Caesar stayed quiet, the flyer crew turned at each other with unease.

During their exchange, the dark skinned man noticed that Mary Dazzle wasn’t present at the moment.

"I thought we were only invited to be interviewed about our thoughts of the magazine company?" Caesar asked.

"Yeah, you were but you are now a big topic. Having you here within the company’s walls is a huge thing." The male voice answered.

"With all due respect, this is not what I came here for." Caesar said, "I came here to talk about the company, not the parts that doesn’t concern you.

So are we still talking about the company or not?"

"Sorry if it seemed offensive, it’s just that we feel that it would be a huge opportunity to talk to the one many are calling ’The center of controversies’ online." The male replied, "We just want to know more about you.

We’ll make it short. We promise."

Caesar narrowed her eyes and stayed quiet which led the unease among her coworkers watching to grow.

" ’Fine’." Caesar said, "You want to talk about ero-wrestling and EBW? Sure, let’s do it."

"Really?" The masculine voice asked.

"Yeah... ’Really’." Caesar answered.

"I have a bad feeling about this." One of the coworkers whispered.

"So what part of my life do you want to talk about as an ero-wrestler?" Caesar asked the interviewers, "Where do you want to start?"

"Let’s talk about the Mizukais. How did you become affiliated with them? What made them bring you into ero-wrestling?" The interviewer asked.

"What happens between me and the Mizukais, stays between me and them. Anything more than that would be an overstep." Caesar answered, " ’Next’ question."

The interviewer feeling the unease in the atmosphere, kept silent for a moment before continuing.

"Okay... Uh... What do you think about ero-wrestling and the ero-wrestlers themselves?"

"It doesn’t matter what I think about ero-wrestling because whether I like it or not, I am an ero-wrestler." Caesar answered, "But as for the ero-wrestlers... As much as many of them are in it for the provision, majority of them are all pieces of shit."

"Ouch." A dark skinned human female coworker whispered.

"Uhm... Caesar, we are in an interview... You can’t use such words." The interviewer said.

"Huh? The fuck you on?" Caesar asked as she slightly tilted her head, "You insisted on talking about ero-wrestling. You chose to talk about an explicit topic, now you want to sanitize me? Nah, you don’t get to clutch your pearls.

Deal with it. If the words I’m using are too vulgar for you to handle, feel free to add some bleep censors or something."

"Damn. She’s really giving it to them." A fair skinned male beastfolk coworker said within.

"Uh... Okay..." The interviewer said, "Uhm... You said the other ero-wrestlers are in it for the provisions yet still called them pieces of... Trash."

"I said shit, and that’s what a lot of them are. Not all but a lot." Caesar said.

"Okay... Uh... From the video that went viral on Wednesday with you and Damien in the cafe... Uh... There really seems to be a lot of bad blood between you and the talents in the locker room." The interviewers asked, "What was going through your mind when it was revealed? Like how did you feel?"

"I learnt about it in my debut with Cardinal. I learnt more after, but the talk with Damien just opened my eyes to how bad it is." Caesar answered while staring at the fingernails she was picking, "At this point, it doesn’t matter what I feel. Just what I’m going to do."

"And what is that?" The interviewer asked.

Caesar then raised head and answered in a flat tone while her irises glowed under the light.

"Thrive."

The answer of Caesar left some of her coworkers exchanging glances at each other again before returning their gaze back at Caesar.

"Okay... So, what do you have to say to your fans?" The interviewer asked.

"Fans?" Caesar asked.

"Yeah. Because of that cafe video, a lot of people started supporting you during your match with Damien." The interviewer said.

"Well, good for them." Caesar replied.

"Uh... Caesar, isn’t that a bit cold? No... Too cold?" The interviewer asked, "They are ’your’ supporters after all."

"It’s funny you’re talking about my supporters, let’s talk about support. Let’s talk about the match with Nero Rogue." Caesar responded, "How many of them cheered that bastard into torturing me. Let’s talk about how they supported the racist sicko and encouraged his twisted actions all because I’m a ’nepo’."

"What?" The interviewer asked in confusion.

"Oh? You haven’t seen the match? You should go watch it. Classic." Caesar sarcastically said.

"Y-you mean they were cheering a racist sicko and encouraged him to continue torturing you?" The interviewer asked.

"Yeah. That’s what happened." Caesar answered, " ’Mess her up’, ’She deserves it’ and more. They weren’t racists like Nero but they cheered him on in his actions all because of how I got into the company. Even Nero knew why they were on his side for the moment.

But do you know what made that whole thing ’sweeter’?"

"No." The interviewer answered.

"It’s how they turned on Nero when things got too uncomfortable for them post-match." Caesar said, "How the audience that were once on his side, did a one-eighty all because they felt his actions were going too far. But Nero being true to himself, continued anyway."

"O-okay, but that was then." The interviewer said, "Ever since that video, many people are now on your side."

"That’s what it took, right? A video recording in the cafe without my knowledge to come to my side. Sure." Caesar said, "Well, the people are free to support who they want just like I’m free not to give a damn about their support.

There are several ero-wrestlers that have scary gimmicks, sadistic gimmicks. Some of them are playing the part just to get the money and put food on their tables. Some got lost in the part and some are just like that in real life, but I can tell that many of them aren’t as low as Nero.

Hell, I got info that they don’t even like the guy backstage but the audience cheered for him just to see me suffer."

"Do you know the ’best’ part about this?" Caesar asked, "It’s that I would have died if it wasn’t for Cedric. If he didn’t step in to ambush Nero, they would have had to drag my corpse from the ring.

So tell me, why should I give a damn over their support? They supported a guy who is not only openly sadistic but also openly racist. He is not putting on a gimmick neither did he get lost in it, it’s just who he is.

A scum. No, I apologize to the scums out there because putting him on your level is an insult to you guys.

He enjoys torturing beastfolks... It’s like drugs to him. He also enjoys torturing humans but beastfolks he enjoys it more and that’s who they cheered. And like I said earlier, they only objected because their stomachs turned."

"Okay... Uh... Let’s just stop since this is getting -"

"No, no, no. We’re not finished." Caesar interjected, "I wasn’t in the mood before but now I got a lot to say."

During her talk, Mary Dazzle walked back in and noted the uncomfortable look on the faces of the people in the room which left her confused.

"So I got to ask, if you were in my shoes, would you give a damn the fans? Seeing how fickle they are, would you care if they started supporting you?" Caesar asked the interviewer.

"No..." The interviewer answered.

"Of course, you wouldn’t. So why should I?" Caesar asked, "Don’t get it twisted, though, I’m not rejecting the fans... I’m rejecting responsibility over their feelings.

If they want to follow me, that’s their business. I’m moving forward regardless. Keep up if you want."

"Now... Let’s talk about the ero-wrestlers." Caesar said as she narrowed her eyes, "Let’s go back to the topic about them.

Many of them, not all, just many don’t like me because of how I got in, and that’s fine. No really, it is."

"I skipped the development center of Tough Enough and I got into the main roster just like that. I was given expensive gears and a personal locker room on top of it. Making everything it seemed they went through and are still going through look meaningless because of my affiliations." Caesar continued as Mary Dazzle watched with an arched brow, "I too would be upset in their position. And because of that, I was called an ’usurper’."

"One who would win championships and become the face of the company not because I earned it but because I had them pulling strings for me." Caesar said as a fair skinned male human coworker with green hair nervously scratched the back of his head.

Caesar then let out a small grin.

"But here is the thing: I never for once thought about winning a championship nor becoming the face of that company." Caesar said, "I know why I entered the company in the first place.

One again , I thought I understood how bad their hatred was but after my conversation with Damien, it opened my eyes to how terrible it truly is."

"You see, an usurper is someone who takes power unlawfully; one who doesn’t need permission to act, and that’s what I’m gonna do." Caesar continued as she slightly leaned back on her chair, "And it won’t matter how I do it. After all, this is no win situation, right? If I had help winning, they’ll say it’s because the Mizukais pulled strings for me, that I’m nothing without them.

If I won cleanly, they’ll say it’s because I had better preparations and if I lose or underperform, they’ll say I’m a fraud and people like me ruin businesses."

"Well, she ain’t wrong." A dark skinned female beastfolk coworker said in her mind.

"I said before I had no interest in winning a championship or becoming the face of the company, but now I am interested in doing that and I’m gonna do it just to rub it in." Caesar said, "That power they were talking so much about that I will be handed, I’ll take it and their approvals will be irrelevant."

"And when it finally happens, whether they like it or not, they’ll hear the chants of these two words: Hail... Caesar." Caesar continued as her grin grew wider while her irises glowed again under the light, "So until that moment comes, you can all kiss my bubbly ass."

Caesar then stood on her feet, turned her back on the interviewers, smacked her bubble shaped bottom and walked away.

As soon as Caesar walked past her fellow coworkers and Mary Dazzle, one of the coworkers who happened to be a dark skinned male beastfolk, spoke.

"I think she just started her villain arc."

"Maybe." The dark skinned human with dual colored dreadlocks replied, "But at this point, it’s hard to tell who the villain truly is."
