Caesar's Moon

Chapter 63 - 62: Elevated

Chapter 63: Chapter 62: Elevated

Time had past after the interview as Caesar and her flyer coworkers were in the bus, Caesar gazed at the window and was observing the view of people performing in their activities.

Caesar’s ears then flinched. She turned to the opposite direction and saw the fair skinned short man with his head tilted down, rocking in his seat while muttering.

"It was just the tip... It was just the tip... It was just the tip. How did she get pregnant from the tip?"

Caesar’s brow arched at the man. However, she quickly took notice of the uneasy glances from her flyer coworkers at her.

Caesar without saying a word, turned her face away and continued staring at the window.

Time had gone as Caesar was walking on the road accompanied by the female beastfolk with the cheetah spots and ears, the two stayed in silence until the cheetah beastfolk nervously spoke.

"Sorry, I don’t mean to intrude into your business but ... Are you sure about this?"

"Hm?" Caesar said as she turned to the cheetah beastfolk.

I mean... Don’t you think that you might have made a big mistake?" The cheetah beastfolk said, "Once again, I know this is none of my business. Whatever happens between you and the whole EBW thing is your concern, but with the video that went viral of you and Damien in the cafe about how badly you are hated by other ero-wrestlers, you saying those words on that interview... Don’t you think it will make those people more hostile towards you?

It’s like what Damien said of you having a target on your back, that interview... Those words will make the target bigger."

Caesar stared at the female for a time before she resumed facing forward.

While Caesar stayed silent, the cheetah beastfolk stared at her with a worried expression.

"Caesar-"

"I know what I said." Caesar interrupted, "I know what it will cause, but I don’t care."

The cheetah beastfolk’s eyes widened and she spoke.

"But you should! You should care. What you just did right now is going to destroy any chance of gaining any ally from the company!"

"Any chance?" Caesar asked with a raised brow as she glanced at the cheetah beastfolk, "It’s not like there was going to be one in the first place.

Let me explain the situation of ero-wrestlers to you. A painful awakening I learnt: a lot of ero-wrestlers aren’t doing those perverted shits for pleasure or spectacle (not to mention, those pleasure things hurt like hell), but because they are desperate. People to fend for, the need to put food on their tables and other kind of things, so they are willing to give up their dignity for them. Taking humiliation and unimaginable pain."

"Now let’s look at me." Caesar continued as a slight smirk crossed her face, "A young and pretty beastfolk woman who managed to get in contact with the Mizukais. Because of her connections and the Mizukais influence, she skipped the line and entered the main roster. Got expensive ’toys’ and other things they sweated to get and some still haven’t gotten."

"How do you think they are going to act?" Caesar asked as the cheetah beastfolk tilted her head down.

"They’ll... They’ll either resent you or try to use you for their own gains." The cheetah beastfolk answered.

"Mhmm." Caesar said as she resumed facing forward.

"But even if, you didn’t need to say all that." The cheetah beastfolk said.

"Well, there is no turning now, is there?" Caesar asked, "Especially when you know this is a no win situation."

"I’m not in that company to make friends. Once I’m done, I’m gone." Caesar continued as she narrowed her eyes.

The female stared at Caesar for a while in silence before she turned her face away.

Suddenly, both of their ears twitched and as they turned to the direction of the noise, they saw a crowd circled around a certain area.

Caesar and the other beastfolk woman locked eyes with each other for a time before they walked forward.

Arriving where the crowd was, they saw a muscular brown skinned man with a red spiky slick back fade, goatee beard and red irises who was wearing a green sleeveless top, blue jeans and black shoes, swinging his fists viciously on a brown skinned beastfolk male.

With a final punch, the redhead human sent the beastfolk male tumbling violently across the ground.

A blonde fair skinned human tried to kick the redhead on his side but he instead trapped the blonde’s leg between his arm and side and with an animalistic yell, he slammed his fist down on the fair skinned human’s knee which not only caused the leg to bend in a broken manner but also made a terrifying crunch sound that caused the man to scream.

Caesar and the audience winced at the sight of the brutality but the red haired man not being done, maintained his hold on the leg of his victim and swung him hard against a brick wall, leaving a bloodstain there in the act while his victim laid out cold.

A fair skinned man with messy green hair tried to swing a baseball from behind on the head of the red haired man, but the man evaded, jammed his foot at the back of the green haired human’s leg, causing him to kneel, snatched the bat from his opponent and with a primal yell, he smashed the baseball bat on the greenhead’s skull with so much force that the bat shattered.

"Damn." Caesar said within.

Finally a dark skinned woman with brown hair tried to sneak in and attack with a neon knuckleduster but the redhead man weaved the punch, grabbed her by the throat, chokeslammed her on the concrete ground and immediately leaped in the air and drove his feet down on her chest and belly which made her eyes bulge out in extreme pain while she screamed.

"What the hell?!" A voice sounded from among the crowd.

The redhead man then threw his head up and let out another primal yell and turned to the crowd.

"WHO IS NEXT?!?!"

However, nobody answered which made the redhead grunt and start walking towards them.

The people in the crowd stepped aside, giving way for the redhead man to pass including Caesar and her coworker.

However as soon as the man reached close to her, he glanced at her face and narrowed his eyes.

The combined pressure of both Caesar and the redhead man made the entire crowd stiffen as they locked eyes with one another.

The man then grunted again he continued walking.

After he had left, Caesar’s coworker turned towards Caesar and spoke.

"Do you know him?"

"No." Caesar answered flatly, "And I don’t think I want to."

Elsewhere in an apartment, the talent and logistics manager Amalia Xin who was wearing a blue T-shirt and a black leggings was sitting on her chair nervously, staring down at the paper placed in front of her.

On the opposite side sat a man on the couch with fair skin, slick back black hair and green irises who was wearing a black suit, carrying a stern expression while having a leg crossed.

"Do you mind explaining this to me?" The man asked, " ’Logistics and talent manager’ ?"

"Mr Jaenir the third- I mean boss- I..." Amalia said while trembling.

"I came to your apartment to discuss this- The booking of AJ Zero and Magoi in an unsanctioned match." Jaenir the third said, "That match was never supposed to happen. The original match ’requested’ by Magoi herself was her versus Eren Brock in an unsanctioned match. The loan shark versus the bulldozer.

AJ Zero was supposed to face Sol Quinn in a standard match, instead he ended up facing the loan shark in the match meant for her and Eren Brock, and Eren... Ended up reducing Sol to a bloody pulp."

"Magoi made her complaint that this match wasn’t what she requested for at the pre-show of House of Legends, but we asked her for patience. That it might have been a mistake from your side and you would correct it, but you didn’t." Jaenir continued as Amalia’s trembling grew, "Perhaps that was why she was barely trying with AJ. Booking a rookie with an 0-3 win record against someone like Magoi in such match when the original was given... The board is requesting for your termination but as the chairman of the company, I want to hear what you have to say first."

"Explain yourself." Jaenir said as he tilted his head, "How you answer will determine if you can still keep your job as the Wednesday and Thursday talent and logistics manager."

Amalia gulped and bowed her head.

"T-thank you for letting me speak, boss." Amalia, "Truth be told, what I did was not intentional. I accidentally mixed up the names of the talents and set them for the public to see without double checking."

"Without double checking? Is this some sort of joke? Because you should know that I do not ’enjoy’ jokes." Jaenir said as he dangerously narrowed his eyes while his irises glowed.

"No! It’s no joke!" Amalia quickly answered as she quickly raised both hands, "It was an accident and I didn’t double check!"

"Then why didn’t you correct it when you found out your mistake?" Jaenir asked.

"Because changing it would cause a lot of problems." Amalia answered, "People had already bought tickets for the pre-show by that time. People had already placed their bets. Changing it indeed would have caused terrible problems."

"So they had to suffer?" Jaenir asked, "Sol was beaten badly by Eren and AJ even though he won, he barely survived... Literally, and his victory only came because Magoi was barely trying."

"And I’m sorry for that." Amalia said as she bowed her head, "I didn’t mean to endanger the rookie like that. I didn’t mean to place the kid in that kind of match."

While Jaenir stared down at Amalia, a strange smile slowly surfaced on her face.

"But looking at it, I did the kid a favor." Amalia said.

"Excuse me?" Jaenir asked in confusion.

"Sir, looking at the whole situation and what it did for him, I did do him a favor." Amalia said as she raised her head, revealing her luminous irises.

"Before his match with Magoi, AJ Zero was just a rookie. A lame rookie who lost three matches since his debut." Amalia continued, "No one was really paying money to see him. But after his match with Magoi... After his victory, you can tell that the very people who didn’t give a fly about the kid will be paying just to see him in the ring.

If anything, that unsanctioned match with Magoi was what he needed to get over with the crowd. With the live audience, the ones watching from their televisions and the ones online."

"Sure, Magoi wasn’t serious and sure, he almost died from his injuries of that match but it forced him to step up his game against the loan shark." Amalia said as Jaenir arched a brow, "If AJ had wrestled Sol instead, he would have still remained a jobber because the match would have been ’safe’ for him."

"Do you know what the ratings for the match were?" Amalia asked with a grin, "A five and a half stars.

Five stars are the ceilings of the best and perfect matches but once it exceeds that then it is beyond phenomenal and that’s what happened with AJ and Magoi.

While I do feel responsible for what happened to him, my main or ’only’ regret, was placing it in the pre-show.

Such a match should have been in the main show!"

"That match... That match elevated the kid." Amalia said as she stood on her feet, "As I’m seeing it, it could push him from the undercard to the midcard and very possibly maineventer.

As for Magoi, losing that match didn’t hurt her aura because everyone knows she barely put any effort. A serious Magoi would have flattened him. So yes, she is still marketable."

"Do you know what they call the kid online?" Amalia asked as she slightly tilted her neck, " ’The slayer’.

They call AJ Zero the slayer because he slayed a monster... Beat the loan shark in the unsanctioned match which is her playground."

"Besides, let’s not act this isn’t the first time rookies have been thrown into the ring with monsters." Amalia said as she spread her arms apart, "After all, the match of the southern boys - Oscar and Mikado facing the sinister sisters of Sonia and Somalia for their return still echoes in one of the most questionable bookings of EBW history.

Booking those two rookie guys against those psychopathic sisters shook everyone that watched it , and it sparked a huge controversy which is one of the things EBW thrives on."

"After all, this company promotes ultra violence, makes a man versus woman the standard match in a one-on-one and allows explicit acts in the ring." Amalia as she sat back down on her chair, "So as far as I’m concerned, what happened to AJ was just another EBW moment.

Thanks to how advanced the company’s medical equipment are, give him a few days and he’ll be back on the road, enjoying both his increased pay and boosts in his career."

"Hmmm. Such a bold answer." Jaenir said as he narrowed his eyes while his irises illuminated, "Got carried away that you forgot who you are talking to?"

Hearing that question, fear immediately swooped back in in Amalia’s heart.

"Ah! I-uh..."

"But because of what you laid out, I will let you keep your job." Jaenir continued.

"Huh?" Amalia said.

Jaenir then stood on his feet and straightened his suit.

"That doesn’t mean you won’t still have your punishment, but it will be a simple slap on the wrist." Jaenir said.

Jaenir walked towards the door but halted to look over his shoulder.

"You are correct. We do thrive on controversies but we know when to draw the line.

Do. Not. Do that. Again."

Jaenir opened the door and left, and as soon as he left, Amalia slumped her head against the table and sighed in relief.
