Chapter 68: Chapter 67: Marked man
While AJ was walking alone in the quiet streets with a blue top while carrying his bag of groceries with his right hand, he had a recollection of earlier when Magoi stared down at him while grinning.
"There is something so mesmerizing about hurting you.
I know we’ll meet again and by that time, you would have gotten some experience to make the match sweeter. Like adding seasoning to a food." Magoi’s voice replayed in his head.
As AJ halted for a moment and stared down at his shirt, he had a quick remembrance of him drenching his previous yellow top with intense sweat after the conversation with Magoi.
"Man, I had to buy a new one because of how soaked the other was." AJ said to himself as he touched the collar of his blue top.
Magoi’s face resurfaced again and AJ immediately took notice of the hand he used to hold his collar shake.
AJ subconsciously dropped his bag of groceries before he slumped to his knees and used his arms to support himself.
Magoi’s face appeared once more in his head especially with her terrifying grin.
"But I’m patient... Because I know we’ll meet again. Until then I wish you the best in your matches... Slayer." Magoi’s voice echoed in his head.
AJ started panting heavily for air which led him to clutch his chest.
AJ in trying to calm himself, began to breathe steadily which led him to cough out a little.
AJ’s eyes then drifted towards the bag of groceries that laid on the ground.
"My sisters..." AJ said within as he extended his arm to pick up the bag, "They need me."
"I can’t afford to be late." AJ continued as he stood on his feet.
However right before he could take a step forward, he felt an odd pressure that caused him to freeze.
AJ glanced to see who was there but saw no one which left him confused.
He tried to take a walk, only for the pressure to get stronger, leaving him more confused.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" AJ asked.
AJ’s eyes scanned the environment but he still saw no one.
"Well, well, well, if it isn’t the guy who slayed the monster himself." A feminine voice sounded.
AJ turned to the direction of the voice and saw a shadow figure stepping forward which turned out to be a woman with a bronze skin, having both hands in her pockets.
The woman also had a purple colored high ponytail hair with a large single bang on the right side of her hair and red irises.
The woman had a face mask that covered her nose downward and wore a white hoodie.
On her waist down was a blue cloth tied round her waist, black leggings and black shoes.
"You’re... The Ace of spades ... Sol Quinn.." AJ said as Sol tilted her head.
"Oh hello, AJ Zero or should I say slayer?" Sol said.
"Uh... Hello..." AJ nervously said while grinning with closed eyes, "Uhm... Can I help you?"
"Help me?" Sol whispered.
"Hmmm. Yes. Yes, you can." Sol answered as she walked towards AJ, "But before you do that, there a few things I’d like for us to talk about."
"O-okay...?" AJ said.
Sol closed the distance between AJ and herself and stared at him for a little while.
"First of all, I came to congratulate you on your victory against Magoi." Sol said, "Beating the loan shark in a no disqualification match especially one that is unsanctioned was wild."
"Uh..." AJ said with a nervous smile.
"Everyone knows Magoi is not to be fucked with when it comes to ’anything goes’ matches. That’s basically you playing with your life, but you beat her." Sol said, "You beat the loan shark in her playground.
Congratulations."
"T-thank you. But... I barely survived her." AJ said, "She wasn’t even trying with me."
"But you still won." Sol replied, "A win is a win no matter how it looks. I for one whenever I’m fighting against that big psycho, whether it is a mixed tag or multi-man match, my instincts usually screams run.
Many of the other talents always prayed to never be involved in a no disqualification match with her... But you... For a rookie to pull off that feat of victory, you’ve climbed the ladder."
"I..." AJ said as he scratched the back of his head.
"However." Sol said with a firm tone, "As much as you have accomplished such a feat, all this has done is made you a marked man in the roster."
"Huh?" AJ said in confusion.
"Don’t get me wrong, this feat you pulled on Magoi is a good thing for your career." Sol said, "It has boosted your status and made you hot in the market; given you a lot of momentum. But right now, there are a lot of talents who want to steal that momentum."
"Why?" AJ asked.
"Why? To gain relevance, that’s why." Sol answered, "If they can beat one of the hottest guys in the market right now, their market status will increase. They become a hot topic.
And you, of course, have so much right now... Aside from the Mizukais golden child."
"The fact that you asked this question is kinda irritating, but since you are still a rookie, I’ll give you a pass." Sol continued as she crossed her arms, "You’ve heard the saying, haven’t you? ’It’s a dog eat dog world.’
No one cares whose ox is gored as long as they get the spotlight."
"You may have broken a glass ceiling in your career, but what you also did was ring the dinner bell for the others to come." Sol said as AJ brought his head down in fear, "And believe me when I say this: there will a huge line of the other female ero-wrestlers ready to pick you apart.
Plus if EBW didn’t have the intergender one-on-one as their standard match, you’d have a lot of the guys in the line as well."
After hearing everything Sol had said, AJ stayed mute, trying to process what he had heard.
After a while, he lifted his head and reluctantly replied.
"Thanks for warning me about this."
"Warn you?" Sol asked with a raised brow.
Sol chuckled as she shook her head and placed her arms on her waists.
"Oh, you poor thing." Sol said as she tilted her head down.
"I didn’t come to warn you. I came to be first in line." Sol continued as she raised her head.
"Huh?" AJ said in both shock and confusion as he stepped backwards.
"And right now..." Sol said as she slammed her fist against her palm and cracked it, "I want to see what you are made of."
"Wait! You want us to fight?!" AJ asked in panic.
"I just said that, didn’t I?" Sol asked, "You and me, right here, one-on-one.
Let me get an experience of how the rookie moves. The one who beat Magoi in her playground."
"But I barely survived!" AJ said as he extended his arm forward, "I-Can’t we talk about this? We don’t need to fight!
I-I have little sisters waiting for me back home!"
"I missed the part where that’s my problem." Sol replied, "And if you want to survive this, I suggest you get yourself ready."
"Wait-!"
Before AJ could finish, Sol lunged towards him and swung her fist which he narrowly avoided.
AJ subconsciously dropped the groceries in the act and stepped backwards a couple of times.
"Hmmm. Not bad." Sol said.
"Wait! Just calm down!" AJ pleaded, "I got-"
Before AJ could finish talking, Sol lunged towards him again.
AJ weaved another punch from Sol.
"Wait!" AJ pleaded again as he bent over to dodge a roundhouse kick from Sol.
AJ tried to hop back but Sol being fast, easily covered the distance between them and punched him hard in the belly which caused AJ’s eyes to cough out spittle.
However in that moment her fist connected, the memory of Magoi’s fist striking his belly played in his head.
The punch made AJ step back and clutch his belly in pain.
Sol, in choosing not give AJ a time to rest or recover, dashed towards him.
AJ quickly raised his arms to guard against her punches but Sol in the process of striking, quickly shifted her swings to the left side of AJ.
At the moment her fist connected there, the memory of Magoi striking that spot also replayed in his head again, leading AJ to hiss in pain.
In doing that, AJ brought his guard down, allowing Sol to land an uppercut on his jaw, causing his head to snap upward before she twirled her body to kick him in the belly which once again caused another memory of Magoi landing a kick on AJ’s belly to play in his head.
AJ rolled backwards but steadied himself and clutched his belly.
"Fight back, AJ!" Sol said as she ran towards him, "If you don’t want this to end disastrously for you then fight back!!"
AJ softly groaned and lifted his head to gaze at Sol who for a moment flickered into Magoi’s appearance.
Sol swung her shin towards AJ but he weaved and swiftly stood on his feet.
Sol hurled her fists at AJ but AJ parried them, punched her in the belly and with a grunt, he landed a haymaker across Sol’s face which caused her to stagger several times backwards.
Sol then turned her face towards AJ and saw him standing with both arms raised to fight.
"Now we are talking." Sol said.
AJ watched carefully as Sol took a step towards him and slightly crouched forward.
With inhuman speed, Sol darted towards AJ, catching him off guard.
"She’s fast!" AJ said within as Sol had easily covered the distance between him and her.
AJ instinctively raised his arms to guard against her punch but the force behind it pushed him back a little.
"Tch!"
AJ swung his leg low but Sol being fast was able to avoid it by hopping in the air before she twisted and perform in a backflip knee drop.
AJ, however stepped back to evade and with no time being wasted, he hurled his fist towards her, only for Sol to balance on her hands and move her right leg backwards to collide with AJ’s wrist which made him slightly wince in pain.
Before AJ could fully compose himself, Sol appeared before him and punched him across the face which almost made him lose his balance.
AJ gritted his teeth and tried to swing back at her but Sol evaded and punched him three more times on the face.
Blood flew out of AJ’s nose and mouth but AJ still not done, swung his shin on her side only for Sol to trap his leg between her arm and side and spin both him and herself inwardly, performing a dragon screw in the act, causing AJ to drop on his back.
Sol held onto AJ’s leg while standing but AJ used his free leg to shove her back.
At the very moment he stood, Sol slammed her foot against AJ’s belly but AJ was quick enough to endure the pain and grab her ankle, only for Sol to immediately counter with a backflip kick to the jaw, using her other leg.
As AJ staggered again,Sol covered the distance between him and her and landed an uppercut palm strike, snapping his head upward.
Sol moved her fist towards AJ but AJ held her wrist with both hands and twisted it to restrain her. However, Sol easily reversed the hold, twisting his arm in restraint which led him to scream out in pain.
AJ’s scream was cut short with Sol’s shin being slammed against his face which made his head ring.
Sol then grabbed AJ’s head, stuffed it hard between her thighs, hooked both of his arm and legs, hoisted him upside down and sat on the ground, performing a package piledriver as she spiked his head hard on the concrete with his head between her thighs.
As AJ laid on the ground, one inch away from unconsciousness, Sol stood on her feet, gripped his hair to raise him up to his knees and placed his mouth against her clothed folds.
However, instead of grinding it, Sol stared down at him and furrowed her brows.
"No. Not yet."
Sol released her hold, leaving AJ to slump on the ground.
"As much as I am tempted to mark you, I won’t eat my cake here." Sol said, "I’ll save it for the ring."
Sol then squatted and continued talking.
"Seriously, if that’s the best you can do, then you don’t need to bother about the line because I will be having that spotlight."
Sol then stood on her feet.
"You got a long way to go, kid. For your sake when we meet again, you better bring your game."
Sol then turned her back and looked over shoulder.
"See you on Wednesday... Slayer."
Sol left the street, leaving AJ to lay limp on the ground.
