Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 83: Combat Suit And Speed BootsThud! Meng Zhi’s hand impaled his stomach, and her hand erupted from his back. As if that wasn’t enough, she repeated the action five to six times.
Once she was done, Mo Chen lost consciousness.
"Mo Chen..." Nana whispered under her breath. When she realised that she was no match against them, she decided to hide.
Meng Zhi looked in her direction and marched over to her.
"No! Sorry! Please, I..." Nana started to beg but stopped midway when she saw Tong Zhu’s lips moving. He was murmuring something. Like some kind of spell or...
Bang! Her head was slammed into the muddy ground as the hand gripping her pressed down onto the mud, making her suffocate.
"Hmph! Hmph!" Knowing she would die, she started to channel the lightning around her body.
Cough! Cough! As she leaned back and coughed heavily, she looked around desperately to see if any of her husbands could help. But what entered her vision chilled her to the bones.
All of her husbands were heavily injured. When the sound of footsteps neared her, regret started to surge in Nana’s heart.
’No... no! I don’t want to die!’
"Stop!" An authoritative voice echoed along. Nana looked over, and her eyes glistened with delight. There were 40 or so humans... all of them had the bearing of superhumans.
"I am saved... I am saved! I am indeed God’s chosen one!"
Meng Zhi, who was standing near her, heard it word by word. God’s chosen one? Why would God choose someone as dirty as these filthy humans?
"We should leave." At some point, Tong Zhu had appeared behind Meng Zhi and advised her.
"No... I still haven’t taken my revenge."
"Then take it some other day. We are not powerful enough to go against these 40 ability users. If you die, there will be no one to take revenge on behalf of Lina."
"Let’s communicate! They will listen! Lina told us... as long as I tell them everything..." Meng Zhi blurted out.
Tong Zhu paused and stared at Meng Zhi before he shook his head in disappointment and said, "Just wait and see then."
Meng Zhi clenched her fist, chose to ignore the smouldering gaze, and picked up a branch from the ground. She rapidly started to write on the ground.
Meanwhile, Nana warily looked at them, and when she saw that Meng Zhi was busy scribbling on the ground and Tong Zhu was murmuring something, she rushed toward Bu Liang as if she had found her saviour.
"Please! Take me away from here!" she cried. "That zombie’s daughter attacked us! We had no choice but to kill her, but her mother went berserk afterward and attacked everyone!"
She pointed toward Meng Zhi. "Please, you have to save us!"
Bu Liang’s expression remained cold as his gaze shifted toward Meng Zhi. She was crouched on the ground, using a broken branch to write something in the mud.
Bu Liang took a step toward her. Then a strange voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
’Ignore her. Attack.’
His eyes briefly became vacant before he raised his hand. Meng Zhi finished writing and immediately stood up.
"Wait! Look at what I wrote!"
She pointed desperately at the ground. "I can explain everything!"
"Attack!"
Bu Liang suddenly shouted. The forty or so superhumans behind him immediately unleashed their abilities.
Meng Zhi froze in disbelief. He had seen her writing. He had seen her trying to explain everything. Yet he had chosen to believe Nana without even asking for the truth.
Before she could think further, another wave of attacks came crashing toward them. Tong Zhu appeared beside her and blocked the attacks.
"Let’s go!"
Meng Zhi stared at Bu Liang one last time. Her disbelief slowly turned into a bitter smile. "So that’s how it is..."
Tong Zhu glanced at her. "Do you still want to give humans a chance?"
Meng Zhi lowered her gaze. "No."
Tong Zhu grabbed her shoulder, and the space around them distorted. In the next instant, they disappeared. Far away, Tong Zhu brought Meng Zhi to the ground.
Her knees gave out, and she collapsed. "Hahaha..."
Tears streamed down her face as she laughed bitterly.
"Chosen one... they say, huh? I guess I was an idiot. Being kind doesn’t guarantee getting kindness in return. Even Lina believed wrong... the god is blind, and so are humans..."
As those words started to pour out of her mouth, the darkness around her increased, and her consciousness slowly faded into nothingness.
..............
Meng Xiaoni packed some small food and reinforced himself with a cheap combat outfit. His slim body made many of the women snort in disdain.
"Yo! Just look at that body; to think he had once tried to seduce our base leader! What a shameless man!"
"Exactly! A garbage man like him expects to attract the attention of Miss Su? Impossible!"
"Have you seen Mo Beichan? He looks so healthy and handsome! Any woman will fall for him!"
A wave of anger swept through Meng Xiaoni, but he merely clenched his fist and slowly walked away. He needed to return to the Swan Base.
To reach it, he would first have to cross Riley Forest, followed by Yanni Hills and then Sun Plains.
Under normal circumstances, the journey would take two months. However, by taking the shorter route through Yanni Hills, he could make it back within five days.
Yanni Hills was considered a dangerous area, but Meng Xiaoni had his own way of crossing it.
He had specially developed a combat suit that could suppress his presence and completely conceal his aura for five minutes. Within those five minutes, he would have to cross Yanni Hills. To make that possible, he had also created a pair of Speed Boots.
The combination sounded impressive, but Meng Xiaoni gave a bitter chuckle.
Both the combat suit and the Speed Boots were still in the beta phase. If his calculations were correct, they wouldn’t last more than ten days. He had already used them once, and they were on the verge of breaking down.
