In the area of Tokyo Public Safety where Devils were being held, the person Yuki Kirisu had sent had already met with the Future Devil.

Kotone Asaba and Fami had come along as well. His earlier visit to Yuki had essentially just been to get permission to enter this place.

The moment they walked in, they heard the Future Devil shouting at the top of its lungs.

"Come on! Say it with me! The future rules!!!"

The Future Devil even tried to get the newcomers to chant along with it.

Kotone ignored that and went straight to business. "We’re here for something important. Predict when the Prophecy of Nostradamus is going to happen. As for your price, name whatever you want."

"The Prophecy of Nostradamus? Doesn’t that thing already have a fixed date?"

The Future Devil asked.

"The Time Devil moved it forward, but we don’t know the exact date."

Kotone explained.

"I see, I see..."

At that moment, the Future Devil suddenly turned toward Fami.

"By the way, this girl isn’t human, is she? How about letting me have a taste of one of her eyes?"

"That’s not something you should be asking me. Ask her," Kotone replied. "Though I’d strongly advise you not to provoke her. If you do, whatever happens next is on you."

His tone was calm, but the warning was clear.

"She’s that scary? Guess she must be something special, huh?"

The Future Devil obviously still hadn’t realized the seriousness of the situation.

After all, the vast majority of Devils that appeared in the human world had lost their memories of Hell. Unless Fami revealed her identity herself, very few humans or Devils would be able to recognize her.

As a result, the Future Devil still had no idea that the girl it had casually referred to was actually the Famine Devil.

"You want to eat my eye?"

Fami suddenly spoke in a completely emotionless voice. "Then by all means, try."

As she spoke, Fami placed a hand on her school cap, as though she might attack at any moment.

"Enough, both of you. Don’t start anything."

Kotone looked directly at the Future Devil. "I might agree to some other condition, but if it involves Fami, the answer is no."

"Oho? You’re awfully protective of this Devil girl. Are you two already together?"

The Future Devil immediately teased him.

"Quit wasting time and get on with it."

Kotone couldn’t be bothered to argue with the Future Devil.

What he had just said might have sounded like he was protecting Fami, but in reality, he was protecting the Future Devil.

If the Future Devil genuinely angered Fami, things would become troublesome whether Fami attacked it herself or released the Falling Devil.

"Fine, fine. Then give me three human eyes. I’m not that cruel, so I’ll only take one eye from each of three people."

The Future Devil continued, "Predicting something as troublesome as that prophecy is a lot of work. I’d be getting ripped off if I didn’t demand a little more in return, wouldn’t I?"

"Whatever."

Kotone replied indifferently, then turned toward the others nearby.

"I’ll be gone for a moment."

The instant he finished speaking, Kotone disappeared.

Less than three seconds later, he returned with three people dressed in prison uniforms.

"These three are serious offenders. They’ve already agreed to my terms. Each of them is trading one eye in exchange for freedom."

Kotone briefly explained the situation, then motioned for the three prisoners to approach the Future Devil.

Of course, it wasn’t absolute freedom.

The three of them would still be kept under surveillance for a long time afterward, and if they committed even the slightest offense, they would be sent back to prison to finish serving their sentences.

Even so, all three believed that sacrificing one eye in exchange for this kind of freedom was well worth it.
