Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 412 - 410:Story time(4)Chapter 412: Chapter 410:Story time(4)
I looked up. At the drifting clouds of essence above.
I had decided to take a break afar from the others to take time and think.
I’d just completed my what? Acquisition of a new world? Still sounds weird just thinking about it.
"Don’t worry, husband, you’ll get used to it."
Then there’s the fact that Terra’s consciousness has refused to leave my soul space since the acquisition.
"Haa..." I let out a long and tired breath, "Are you going to come out?" I wasn’t even ready to begin addressing the "husband" title. Much weirder things have happened, so I was barely even moved.
"I need to stabilize my core and the world within your soul first, and that will take some time, so no, I cannot come out just yet."
"Fine..." I shook my head. It wasn’t any bother, just that I’ve had too many voices in my head lately.
"Teehee. If I didn’t know better, I’d have thought you were tired of hearing my voice." Shaia’s teasing voice brought a small smile to my face.
"If even eternity wasn’t enough to make me tired, then nothing else would."
"You know what? I think this sequence of reincarnation and awakening actually did you good, you seem a lot more emotionally mature now, hmm hmm."
"Heh! You couldn’t expect a being of eternity and chaos to be acting like one of those ants before, no? I guess events changed me. Seems even eternal beings aren’t exempt from change." I looked up, a melancholic feeling welling up from within me as images of my mother sacrificing herself to save me played in my mind.
"How much do you remember?"
"Only the really painful and sweet bits. You and... Mother."
"And everything else?"
"Blank. A wall. I recall nothing, maybe fragments, but nothing concrete."
"Haa... this is what I was afraid of. Your awakening restored only memories of your last conscious state."
"But that’s why I have you, right? To clear things up. And I need that clarity now more than ever."
"Alright, my love. Where should I start?"
"You can start by showing yourself. I won’t be having this conversation without looking at your beautiful face."
"Teehee... I guess I can grant you that much privilege. Humph! Be grateful!"
"Hahaha... sure, whatever my lady says."
A subtle wave spread through the world around me as a presence, or lack thereof, manifested.
And then, right before my eyes, Shaia made herself known.
With hair the shade of starlight and darkness, and eyes made up of swirling constellations, her face was one that transcended the concept of beauty. Words failed me the moment I laid eyes on her.
It wasn’t the first time. I’ve been seeing that face for, well, apparently as long as eternity itself, yet even after reincarnation, even after Aunt V and the others, she still managed to leave me starstruck.
"Teehee... I guess I haven’t lost my touch then. I was scared I’d lose out to the other girls." Her laughter made me snap out of it.
"I must be going crazy today." I shook my head wryly as I realized I’ve been stunned three times already today by women.
"Haa... so why aren’t you fully here? You still like to play these games."
"Teehee... how else do you expect it to be fun? I can’t just make it easy for you, now can I? Not when I know how handsy you can get."
"Well..." I stretched forth my hands as Chaotic Denial surged to life, "you never actually try not to make it easy, now do you?" My palm met her face as her absence was made present.
There had only ever been one—one person allowed to touch her. And for all of eternity, it will always remain. "You’re beautiful..." I said as I pulled her into a long-overdue kiss.
There was no hesitation in her body as she relaxed completely into my embrace.
I could feel all the stress I was trying to ignore. All the frustration that was threatening to pour out. All my silent worries. In this one moment, everything was washed away by her embrace. And so, we just stayed there, lost in each other,
looking, hoping, to get some semblance of our lost time.
...
...
"So, really, where do I start?" Shaia asked once more as she curled up in my embrace.
"Start from the beginning. From after Mother’s... after Mother’s final act."
"Hmm." She nodded meekly.
"After Aunt Devouring had sacrificed herself to repel the others, we were both sent plunging into the newly birthed creation that resulted from her sacrifice."
"The birth of a new creation, as you can guess, is not something one can just navigate through casually, and considering the fact that I had been injured by Eldritch after he forcefully dispelled my help, it was even worse. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the shock from seeing your mother die seemed to have overwhelmed you to the point of unconsciousness." Her words made my heart twist in guilt.
"I have inconvenienced you. I’m sorry."
"What’s all this talk about? It’s you and me till forever, no? It’s what I ought to do." I nodded gently, signaling for her to continue.
"So, there we were, hurtling through creation with no distinct direction. Then to make matters worse, your being... it began dying."
"Dying?"
"Yes. Aunt Devouring had forcibly taken the origin of the Outer-Source Emptiness and planted it into you. Why she did that, I can only make an educated guess at this moment, but that’s not the point. The point is, you were dying. Your being was falling apart, the clash of chaos and outer-source being something that even you couldn’t handle."
"So, left with no other choice, I was forced to split your being into two."
"Kyle and me..." I muttered in realization.
"Indeed. Kyle Donnoghan. Your supposed past life was still you—just another part of your being that had to split away to try and save you."
"This..."
"But even that wasn’t enough. Even after splitting your being in two with my power, you were still dying. So, I had no choice but to seal the cause."
"The outer-source essence."
"Yes. The outer-source essence. But in doing so, Kyle turned out powerless."
"I see," I muttered, sinking deep into thought as her story continued.
"I didn’t know where I sent your other half to, I was barely conscious myself, so I just focused on the part that still had some power. Luckily for us, Aunt Devouring hadn’t entirely left us. The last vestiges of her Essence coalesced into the planet you now call Terra."
"How long it took for life to be birthed on this planet or in creation in general, I had no idea. All I knew was all of a sudden, there was a sudden pull from the planet. The half of your being I was attached to was sucked toward the planet, planting itself onto a couple making love."
"Mother and Father..." My eyes slowly widened.
"Yes. The one known as Regulus and... Seraphina.
Or rather, I should call her Aunt Devouring instead."
"No... you don’t mean..."
"Yes, Dante. Your mother, Seraphina Draven, was Aunt Devouring’s incarnation."
