The sudden turn of events plunged the entire battlefield into silence. The terrifying aura that had just appeared made everyone present afraid to move, and even the previously berserk Gale Demon Wolves now had eyes full of fear.
The Young Miss lay on top of Shen Haoran, blood gushing from her shoulder. Her face was contorted in pain. She was only a Spirit Pupil Tier Martial Artist; how could she possibly withstand an attack from a Spirit Marquis Tier Gale Demon Wolf?
However, when the Young Miss's gaze met Shen Haoran's brilliant eyes, she found herself completely lost in them, unable to even feel the pain in her body.
But Shen Haoran's eyes remained open for only a moment before closing again. Since the Young Miss was shielding him with her body, the surrounding Martial Artists didn't see a thing. As soon as his eyes shut, the Young Miss went limp and collapsed onto his chest.
The teeth of a Gale Demon Wolf carry a potent corrosive poison, which the Young Miss's frail body naturally couldn't resist. However, after she fell unconscious, a pitch-black flame shot out from Shen Haoran's fingertip and entered the wound on her shoulder. A few wisps of black mist were then forced out, and as they dissipated, the color returned to the Young Miss's face.
Meanwhile, the formidable pressure had not vanished. It still enveloped the area, and neither Bai Shuo's group nor the Gale Demon Wolves dared to make the slightest move, terrified of angering that powerful being and sharing the fate of the Gale Demon Wolf that had just exploded.
"Vile beasts! I'll give you ten breaths to get out of here. Otherwise, you die!" an old and immensely authoritative voice boomed, echoing endlessly through the mountain forest.
Hearing this, Bai Shuo and his men felt a wave of relief. 'Thankfully, his target isn't us, but the Gale Demon Wolves!'
WHIMPER… Hearing the voice, the Gale Demon Wolf's Wolf King whimpered a few times. Its eyes were filled with resentment, but feeling the terrifying pressure from above, it had no choice but to lead its pack in retreat. Soon, they vanished from the sight of Bai Shuo and his men.
Seeing the Gale Demon Wolf King retreat with its pack, Bai Shuo and his men heaved a heavy sigh of relief. He cupped his fist toward the forest and said, "Many thanks to you, Senior, for your assistance. We are eternally grateful!"
However, Bai Shuo's gratitude was met with silence. The terrifying pressure also vanished without a trace, as if nothing had happened at all.
"Commander Bai Shuo, it seems like no one's there. Maybe we just got lucky, and some expert happened to be passing by and decided to right a wrong," Da Mao said, gazing into the dark sea of trees.
Bai Shuo nodded. That was very likely. Some experts were just that eccentric, and anyone who could exert such a terrifying pressure had to be a peerless master.
"The Young Miss!" Since the expert had already left, Bai Shuo stopped paying attention to the forest. He suddenly remembered the Young Miss and whipped his head around toward the carriage. Seeing her injured, he rushed over.
"Medic! Where's the medic? Get over here!" Bai Shuo roared upon seeing the unconscious Young Miss. She was the objective of his mission and was extremely important to the Bai Family. If she died, he would be unable to escape the blame.
An old man hurried over. After he finished examining the Young Miss, his expression turned a bit strange. He then cupped his fist to Bai Shuo and said, "Commander Bai Shuo, rest assured. The Young Miss only has a superficial wound. She'll be fine after a couple of days' rest!"
"A superficial wound? How is that possible? She was clearly bitten by a Gale Demon Wolf! Isn't she poisoned?" Bai Shuo asked in disbelief.
"It is indeed a superficial wound. The blood from the injury is bright red, her complexion is rosy, and her breathing is deep and steady. There are no signs of poisoning whatsoever. It seems someone helped the Young Miss neutralize the wolf's poison!" the old man said respectfully.
"Someone helped her with the poison?" Hearing the old man's words, everyone involuntarily turned their gazes toward Shen Haoran, since he was the only one who had been in contact with the Young Miss. But seeing his tightly closed eyes, they all shook their heads. 'How could an unconscious person possibly detoxify the poison for her?'
"Since the Young Miss's life isn't in danger, bandage her up first. We need to leave this place before the scent of blood attracts other Spirit Beasts!" Bai Shuo said, letting out a heavy sigh of relief. 'As long as the Young Miss is okay, that's all that matters.'
At Bai Shuo's command, the group quickly tidied up the battlefield before hastily leaving the area and continuing on their way. No one noticed the streams of Spiritual Thought surging back into Shen Haoran's Sea of Consciousness like a tide.
Inside his Sea of Consciousness, Shen Haoran let out a long breath. 'Luckily I woke up just in time. Otherwise, both the Young Miss who saved me and I would have been done for.'
Shen Haoran's gaze swept over the stunningly beautiful Young Miss sleeping beside him, and he couldn't help but feel touched. 'For the past few days, even in my coma, I could feel someone taking care of me. And just now, she risked her life to save me. She's such a genuinely kind person. Without her, I probably would have really died. This Young Miss... she's my savior.'
After glancing at the Young Miss, Shen Haoran turned his attention back to his own body. When he saw the state he was in, he gave a wry smile. 'The injuries I sustained this time are no joke.'
Inside his body, his meridians were twisted together, and some had even ruptured. This caused his Spiritual Power to become blocked, unable to circulate. Furthermore, his bones had been shattered in that violent spatial storm. Fortunately, thanks to the Young Miss setting his bones and the restorative effects of his Power of Chaos over the past few days, it wasn't a major issue anymore. Still, it would probably take another day or two before he could get out of bed and move around.
But the Primordial Small World was in the worst shape of all. The land within it was cracked and barren, filled with an aura of death. His Power of Chaos had been completely depleted in the spatial rift, and what little he had managed to gather recently had all been used to heal his body. On top of that, there were barely any fluctuations of Spiritual Power left in him. 'If it gets any worse,' he thought, 'this Primordial Small World might just shatter completely. Then I'll truly become a cripple!'
On top of that, there was no sign of Elder Yan or Changmao. They had likely overexerted themselves in the spatial storm and fallen into a deep slumber. However, before falling asleep, Elder Yan had left a formula for conditioning his body in Shen Haoran's Sea of Consciousness. Shen Haoran glanced at it and committed it to memory. With this Pill Recipe, his internal injuries would be able to heal much faster.
After carefully assessing his internal condition, Shen Haoran calmed his mind and began manipulating the newly condensed Power of Chaos to clear his blocked meridians. 'I don't know where I am, and besides the Young Miss, everyone else here is hostile toward me. No matter what, I need to recover my strength first. Only then will I have some measure of security.'
Gray Spiritual Power began to circulate within Shen Haoran's body. Inside the carriage, silence reigned once more...
