That sounded like Jeremy actually did something stupid and then ended up being punished. But to call Chloe? That was too far, and Ace didn’t think the message sounded like it was from his brother.

If the number hadn’t come from him, he would have thought that Chloe made this up.

Moreover, Chloe had been promised to Zade for three years, so she knew the people around the residence quite well. And even though Jeremy kept denying it, Ace was well aware that he had a crush on Chloe.

Therefore, there was no way he would ask her to come and save him when he was being punished. His pride wouldn’t allow that.

"Why don’t you check with Jeremy? Ask him why he called me here and ditched me. If it’s a teenage prank, it’s not funny at all." Chloe flicked her green hair, and then her eyes met Seara. "Oh, you gained weight. You don’t look like a ghost anymore. Great."

"Watch your mouth, Chloe," Zade said with a hint of warning. He looked at her coldly.

"What?" Chloe tilted her head and frowned at Zade as the king leaned against the drawer next to Seara. "That’s a compliment. I didn’t mean bad."

Chloe was upset to be called here, but she would rather be here than be in her pack and deal with her father, who wanted to marry her off to someone after the engagement with Zade didn’t work.

Meanwhile, Ace called Jeremy to come home.

"I am in the middle of my class."

"Why did you pick up your phone when you are in the middle of class?"

"Well, you called me, bro."

"Get your ass here immediately; there is something important I want to ask." And after that, Ace cut off the call. "He will be here in half an hour," he informed the other.

On the other hand, Seara was watching Reaper. He looked so calm. The wild wolf even closed his eyes when Seara scratched him behind his ear.

"I don’t think Chloe was the one who had done it," Seara said all of a sudden; her eyes were still on Reaper.

"See? Even she knew that I was not that bored to go into the forest and poison your wild wolves," Chloe said enthusiastically.

The surveillance cameras only captured Chloe in the forest. They did not capture her entering the area because there were no cameras there.

"How do you know that?" She perked up at Seara.

Chloe would face serious trouble if she were accused of killing the wild wolves, since she knew how Zade treasured them.

More importantly, she would rather not be punished for something that she didn’t even do.

"Reaper does not react to you," Seara said simply.

Hearing that, Chloe scrunched her nose. "Maybe because he feels a little bit lazy." That didn’t sound convincing to her.

"No, I don’t think so." Seara didn’t know how to explain this because it was more about something that she felt than something that she could put into words.

She didn’t really like Chloe, but it didn’t mean she would put her into trouble without any reason.

"That’s it? You only think that I am not?" Chloe tilted her head, staring at Seara with a look of disbelief on her face. "Well, I am not complaining, though. So, can I go?"

"You can go after we check what the message is about between you and Jeremy." Ace felt there was more to it.

And if even Ace could tell, Zade already felt something was completely wrong with this whole situation. He also didn’t think Chloe would do that.

He didn’t pay attention to this woman even when they were engaged. Chloe would only come to him whenever she wanted to buy something that her father refused to buy for her, and Zade couldn’t be bothered with money.

Therefore, she didn’t have any reason to kill the wolves.

Someone was manipulating the narrative behind this situation.

However, before Jeremy could get there, Zade and Ace received a report through the mindlink; both of them tensed up almost immediately.

"Stay here," Zade said grimly, as he rushed away with Ace.

"What’s going on?" Chloe straightened her back as she watched Zade and Ace disappear behind the door. "What happened?" She turned around to look at Seara, who had the same confused look.

"I don’t know." Seara stopped scratching Reaper, and the wolf opened his eyes, but like before, he ignored Chloe.

"Hey, tell me. What’s going on?" Chloe moved closer and then sat down on the chair opposite Seara’s. She put some distance because she didn’t want to be too close to the wolf. "Tell me, what happened that caused the chaos?" She leaned over, and her voice sounded like Zephyr when he was in the mood for gossip.

"I think you’ve already known what happened," Seara replied lightly.

"No. I only know that the three packs had caused a riot, but is it true that they defied Zade because they didn’t like you as his mate since you are a runt?" Chloe was eager to hear the answer. "So, that’s true?" She raised her brows, elated when Seara didn’t answer her question.

"Do you feel good because of that?" Seara met Chloe’s eyes, and Reaper moved uncomfortably, as if sensing Seara’s emotion.

"Of course," Chloe replied in a matter-of-fact tone. "At least, I am dumped not because I am not good enough, but because you are his mate, so there is nothing that anyone could do about it."

When it came to the mate bond, no one could stand between a Lycan and the mate, and Chloe was well aware of that.

But of course, after being engaged for three years and suddenly being put aside, it was still not a good feeling.

"But do you want to know what else Zade likes? I can tell you a few things about..."

"No." Seara cut her off; she still remembered Chloe’s last suggestion about Zade.
