As the woman had blocked all the exit doors and they couldn’t open them, Seara had to use an extreme method to escape.

She caught sight of a statue in the display cabinet close to her and immediately grabbed it. It was a statue of a griffin that was the size of her two fists.

"Move!" Seara grabbed Chloe to the side and threw the statue against the window, which shattered into pieces.

On the other hand, Chloe was stunned. She knew Seara was rather violent since she attacked her the first time they met, but she was rather... wild.

"Well, that works too..." Chloe nodded in agreement. "But do you know that this window was from centuries ago? That you have ruined an artifact?"

That was the least of Seara’s concern now. "Let’s go!" She then grabbed Chloe’s hand and ran to the broken window so they could escape.

"No, that will cut my dress." Chloe was wearing a green dress that matched her hair color. She scrunched her nose when she saw the jagged side of the broken glass.

However, Seara kicked the remaining glass on the sash to create more opening for them; even so, Chloe was still reluctant.

"Let’s go!" This time, Seara glared at her.

"Fine, fine." Chloe followed Seara to the broken window.

Seara came out first and then waited for Chloe.

"Ugh. My dress..." She heard the tearing sound of her dress as it caught on the remaining jagged glass at the side. "You should find a wider window to break."

Seara rolled her eyes at her comment, and Chloe kept complaining as she landed on the muddy ground. Rain started pouring down, and it only made her even more in a bad mood.

"Why is there no one in the main building?" Chloe ran beside Seara toward Ace’s house. "You should tell Zade to let someone be in the main building."

It was not even a secret that Zade didn’t really like having anyone around him. Therefore, most of the time, the main building would be empty, aside from a few moments when they had to come to clean the place.

Moreover, the residence was well protected; thus, there was no need for extra warriors inside or outside the main building.

But it was proven that something needed to change.

Seara and Chloe ran toward Ace’s house, but suddenly they stumbled back and fell on their butt when they felt as if they had hit a wall.

"What the fuck?" Chloe groaned; she rubbed her face because her nose hurt. "What was that?" She looked to her right and saw Seara also grimacing while rubbing her nose.

"Going somewhere, my little girls?" The woman with golden eyes tilted her head and looked at the two of them with a deep interest. "I don’t mean to be rude, but you can’t leave just like that in the middle of our conversation, right?"

Chloe might be crazy, but she saw a strange shape behind the woman. Because of the rain, you could see the raindrops hitting something and creating this odd shape, but there was nothing there. It was like a ghost.

However, Chloe was not the only one who saw it; Seara was stunned in horror as well, because she saw the same thing.

"Is that... a snake?" Seara narrowed her eyes; she widened them when they watched the shape move and slither on the muddy ground.

This time, it was more vivid because they could see its trace.

"Move!" Chloe grabbed Seara and yanked her up with her, and both of them ran toward the forest. That was the only option they had, since the woman and the invisible snake blocked the only path to Ace’s house.

"Can’t you mindlink anyone?" Seara asked in desperation as she tried to keep up with Chloe.

At this point, Chloe had taken off her high heels and had to run barefoot. She hated it so much when the cold, sticky, and squelchy mud touched her feet.

"I am not part of this pack, remember?" Chloe glanced at Seara. "Why don’t you mindlink them?"

"I don’t have my wolf spirit, remember?" Seara used the same tone as Chloe.

By now, it was no longer a secret that she didn’t have a wolf spirit; therefore, not only had she lost her ability to heal quickly like most shifters, but she couldn’t mindlink anyone, even when Zade marked her, or so most of the people thought, since it linked to your wolf spirit.

Both of them went deeper into the forest. "Do you have any idea where we are going? Or are we only getting lost here?" Chloe had never stepped inside the forest, so she was clueless.

"Over here." Seara pulled Chloe to her right side. She was not really familiar with the forest, but she had been here a few times with Zade and also alone, because she liked this place.

Chloe followed Seara; she was glad that she knew where to go until Seara took her to hide behind the bushes.

"What? No. I am not going there!" Chloe widened her eyes when Seara asked her to crawl behind the bushes. She just did her nails!

Yet, Seara didn’t have the patience to wait for her to follow. She grabbed the front of Chloe’s dress and yanked her down to her hands and knees.

"No! This is squelchy..." Chloe looked like she wanted to cry. She had never been this dirty before. She was the alpha’s daughter after all and quite pampered, to say the least.

"Shut up." Seara covered Chloe’s mouth to stop her from complaining, but she had been crawling on the wet ground, so needless to say, Chloe felt the taste of dirt in her mouth, and she wanted to vomit. "Shut up!" Seara hissed viciously at her to shut up when Chloe was about to cry.

She regretted coming here. She shouldn’t have come when Ace called her over, but now it was too late.
