Jeremy almost bumped into Zade’s black beast, and he stumbled back when he felt the intense emotions exuding from the king.

"W—what’s going on?" Ever since he entered the residence, he could already feel the tension in the air. Adding to the fact that Ace had called him over urgently, he knew it was bad news.

Jeremy was confused when he saw Ace shift into his wolf form, followed by the other warriors as well. It seemed the king had given them an order through mindlink as he dashed away.

When Jeremy approached his mother, there were only ten warriors left.

"What’s going on, Mom?" He glanced at the watchtower and furrowed his brows. Why would they gather here?

"The devil disappeared."

That was all Leia said, but Jeremy knew the implication of it. He was not old enough to be there when the Lycans managed to capture the devil, but as a shifter, this was the first story that they learned since they were little.

Zade immediately knew something must have happened to his mate when he couldn’t find her in the main building; Chloe was not there either, and one of the windows was broken.

He tried to trace her scent, but it was so difficult with the rain pouring down. The trace on the muddy ground didn’t help either because it was unclear.

However, when Zade saw the forest, he headed there. His instinct told him Seara was heading toward the forest, since it was a place that she was familiar with. She had been spending her time there a few times.

There must have been something that prevented her from reaching Ace’s house, and no warrior saw her leaving the main building area, as the warriors were placed outside the hedge.

Zade knew Seara’s habits well enough to predict that Seara was going to the forest. However, when he arrived in the forest, he faced a significant challenge because Seara could be anywhere—the forest was vast.

Even so, Zade dispatched his warriors to search the entire area. Meanwhile, Ace directed his own warriors to inspect the surroundings of the main building and sent a few to the bungalow, just in case Seara had slipped away and gone there without anyone noticing.

But after five minutes under the downpour, Zade caught the familiar footsteps in the distance. It was incredible that he could hear it at all, especially given this current situation.

And before his mind could think, his body had moved toward the sound.

Thunder and lightning split the dark afternoon sky, and it felt as if the whole forest were enraged, as the harsh wind blew through the leaves, shaking the branches and letting coldness seep through your skin.

But there she was... Seara was running as fast as she could and slowing down a bit when she saw a familiar beast—Zade.

Seeing him, her fear and pain evaporated, and she rushed toward him.

Zade shifted into his human form right before Seara threw herself at him. Both of them were drenched, and he smelled blood on her. There were a few cuts on her skin, adding to the wounds on her body.

"Zade!" Seara hugged Zade tightly. She felt like she could finally breathe again as her mate wrapped his arms around her body protectively.

"It’s okay. I am here." He felt her body against his, and only then did he realize the fear that crept to the back of his mind at the thought that something bad had happened to her.

She was trembling out of fear and cold, sobbing against his chest, as she tried to tell him something. "Chloe," she said, pointing in the direction where she came from. "Chloe was there. The demoness—Lilith—she is going to kill her."

She was not sure what Lilith would do to Chloe, but Seara felt the demoness would kill her. She was panicking as she tried to explain what happened, but her words were a jumbled mess.

Thankfully, Zade understood, and he had sent his warriors to check on Chloe.

"Check her; we need to get her back." Seara was agitated as she tugged Zade to go back with her to the place where she had left Chloe. "Let’s go back. Let’s save her."

"You’re miscalculating the timing, Belial," a hoarse voice sounded from inside the bedroom while Oliver and Maisie were standing outside.

Oliver tried to crane his neck to catch a sight of the devil, but he couldn’t. This was Leviathan, the devil who appeared a few centuries ago and wreaked havoc during the dark time. Now, he was a myth in some of the shifters’ histories.

It did not mean Oliver didn’t believe the devil existed in the modern era, since his existence alone was already proof enough to say they were around.

However, when myth and reality collided, it was difficult to find a middle ground, that was the reality. Oliver felt the urge to see Leviathan. Would he look like Belial? The devil beside him? What else could he do?

"I am sorry, Leviathan. I should have timed it better, but you don’t need to worry; we have a replacement for that. This might not be as good, but this person could be used temporarily." Maisie lowered her head solemnly.

Right now, they were in Oliver’s apartment, the place near his university. It was a huge place, and even when he was an alpha, he didn’t think he could afford one like this. It was a good thing that Oliver came from a family of money.

"He will be here in any moment," Maisie said solemnly and then looked at Oliver.

And right at that time, the doorbell rang, and Oliver immediately went to get it. He opened the door and greeted Jude.
