"Zade, no!" Seara managed to get the words out as she pushed him as hard as she could. Fear gripped her heart.

Zade snapped from his desire to have her right there and then. It felt like physical pain when he had to move away from his mate. It felt as if he were fighting against another Lycan.

His beast was being combative since it was agitated for not getting what it wanted.

Zade wanted to continue, no matter what. She was his mate; he should have marked her a long time ago. He had waited for so long for her, but he still couldn’t have her. Why?

However, the fear in Seara’s hazel eyes was like cold water that was being poured down on him. Zade’s entire body turned rigid, especially when he saw tears streaming down her eyes.

"I am sorry, I am sorry." Zade moved away slightly from her and sat down, so he was no longer pinning her down. He used the blanket to cover her body.

Two buttons of her pajamas had been torn, exposing her chest. Zade didn’t even realize he had done that. He was out of his mind; his beast took control over him, since it had been a little bit stronger after the killings months ago.

The effect remained even now.

"I am sorry; please don’t cry. I will not do it again." Zade was a little bit hesitant when he stretched out his hand to touch her, but in the end, he retracted his hand and sat silently, not knowing what to do.

Meanwhile, Seara hugged the blanket to cover herself as she sobbed. Zade couldn’t see her face because her hair covered it, but he knew she was crying. He didn’t even dare to brush it away from her face.

"I will leave if it makes you feel better," Zade said. He remembered how Seara had reacted when she saw Ace because of his hair color. She had dreaded him.

In this case, what should Zade do if she dreaded him? Seara was getting better, and he should ruin it by losing control over his beast.

When Seara didn’t respond to him, slowly he got out of the bed, but before he could reach the door, Seara spoke in her small voice.

"Don’t leave."

Her face was still covered with her hair, but Zade felt her eyes staring at him.

"You want me to stay?"

"Stay."

"Okay."

Zade stood next to the door, leaning his back against the wall. The distance was better in a way.

"I will stay here. Get some rest," Zade said when he still felt her eyes on him. "I will not do anything. I will be here."

Seara didn’t answer him right away, but after several minutes, she spoke. Her voice was a little bit trembling. "You scared me."

"I know. I am sorry for that. It will never happen again."

"Promise?"

"I promise," Zade said solemnly.

Seara then pushed herself into a sitting position; she stared down at her pajamas, where the missing two buttons were. "You tore my pajamas. This is my favorite."

Even then, Zade couldn’t stop smiling at her comment. "I will buy you a new one. I will get other pajamas for you."

Zade then left the room and returned with other pajamas for her and put them on the bed for her to change, as he turned around.

Seara glanced at Zade briefly to make sure he wouldn’t peek, though she believed he wouldn’t do that, and then changed her torn pajamas with the new ones.

"Don’t throw them away. They are only missing two buttons. I can sew them."

"Okay. I will ask the omega to do it." At this point, Zade would agree to anything that Seara wanted.

"I am done." Seara tugged the edge of Zade’s shirt.

"Get some rest. I will be here." Zade turned around and looked at her. He took the torn pajamas away and put them on the table as he sat down in the chair. "Sleep, Seara."

Seara pulled the blanket over her, but she couldn’t sleep immediately. She felt something was missing. Something was not right, and she didn’t like the empty space beside her.

She tried to close her eyes, but sleep wouldn’t come, and then she glanced at Zade, who was staring at the window. The dim light from the lamp fell on his face, and Seara saw the tension between his brows. He looked angry.

Was he angry with her?

"I can’t sleep," Seara said, and Zade shifted his attention back to her. Of course, he knew by only listening to her breathing.

"Are you hungry?"

"No."

"Do you want me to leave?"

Seara furrowed her brows and shook her head.

"What can I do to help you to sleep?"

She fiddled with her fingers, and when she answered, Zade almost missed it. "I want you to play with my hair."

Zade always did that whenever they lay down together out of habit, but Seara liked it. It helped her to relax and fall asleep.

"Are you sure?" Zade smiled softly at her and watched as she nodded.

Slowly, Zade approached the bed. He didn’t make a sudden move so he wouldn’t scare her even more. And when he sat down on the edge of the bed and Seara didn’t push him away, he touched her long hair.

"You need to lie down."

"You will... only touch my hair, right?" Seara pressed her lips tightly. She was conflicted.

She felt scared when Zade suddenly became rough with her. She was overwhelmed by the thought that if Zade wanted to, he could do whatever he wanted to her, and she wouldn’t be able to fight him off. He could force himself on her, and she wouldn’t be able to stop him.

But then, Zade stopped and moved away.

And now, she craved his presence. Seara was torn.

"I will only touch your hair," Zade reassured her. "Now, lie down and sleep."
