Zade watched as Seara fell into a deep slumber; her breathing became even, and her grip on the blanket loosened. Her expression also relaxed slightly.

Meanwhile, Zade was playing with her hair. He felt the softness between his fingers, as he didn’t dare to fall asleep, knowing he might lose control again if he let his guard down.

He already dreaded the idea that Seara’s progress would decline because of his action. The thought of her condition reverting to what it was the day he first met her filled him with dread.

"Damn it," Zade cursed under his breath. He lifted his head to stare at his mate’s sleeping face. She didn’t look troubled, and he could only hope it wouldn’t leave a bad impact on her progress.

Zade couldn’t imagine if Seara was terrified of him, seeing him in the same light as those three filthy warriors. Even seeing Ace made her uneasy at that time, even though her memories had not fully returned yet.

If that was what happened after his fatal mistake, then Zade might consider going under reconstructive surgery.

"Damn it." He balled his fist and punched his forehead to silence the beast in his head. His feral side was a little bit uncontrollable. This was why he shouldn’t have committed murder.

After he lost control a hundred years ago, his beast became easily provoked, and even though he had managed to regain control, it was not the same as before.

Zade took Seara’s hand and kissed her knuckles gently. Then, he stood up and left the room.

[Zeph, come here.] Zade mind-linked Zephyr, who was about to sleep.

[I am sleeping.] Zephyr’s answer came a long moment later after Zade called for him for the third time.

[Get your ass here, or I am going to send your ass to Altair’s territory.]

[Damn you, Zade. Do you like my ass so much, you keep mentioning it!]

Ten minutes later, Zephyr had dragged his feet to the bungalow. He looked worn out. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes were almost closed.

"What?" Zephyr furrowed his brows at Zade, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"Look after Seara; I am stepping out for a while."

"Do you mean stay inside the bedroom with her?" Zephyr must be too sleepy to use his brain; he didn’t filter his words, and only when he finished saying it did he realize how dangerous his statement was, especially when he saw the look on Zade’s face. "I take it back. Just kidding. I am sleepy. I don’t think through."

"One step into the room when you are not needed, I’ll bury you alive, and let’s see how long your immortality will last."

Zade didn’t shout the words; he didn’t even use a sharp tone, but what he said was enough to chase away Zephyr’s sleepiness. Even if he was half-dead drunk, he was confident that he would get sober right in an instant if Zade said those words to him.

"Got it. Don’t worry." He was awake now.

This was not the first time Zade threatened him for being too close to his mate. Though Zephyr thought Zade wouldn’t seriously go through with the threat, obviously, he wouldn’t be so dickhead to bet on his luck.

"But why do you need me to stay here?"

The residence was heavily guarded, and if there were an intruder, the wild wolves would pick it up too; therefore, Seara was perfectly protected.

However, Zade didn’t respond to the question; he just walked past Zephyr and then shifted into his beast. He needed some time to let his beast out so it would stop gnawing at the edge of his head.

"My king," the warriors who guarded the cell greeted Zade. They bowed their heads respectfully as the king walked inside.

The dungeon smelled atrocious, since no one bothered to clean it up, especially the further part of it, where the most heinous enemy they held as a captive was.

And in that exact part of the dungeon, Zade kept the three women: Eudora, Enid, and Brigid—the three people who had made his mate’s life hell.

Zade had to admit that he gave an easy leeway for the three warriors, who had done so much harm to his mate, but it wouldn’t happen without the command of these vicious women.

The sound of heavy breathing could be heard, echoed in the walls of the dungeon, as the three women in the cells were trying to survive the torture.

They were barely alive. Zade didn’t want to kill them right away. He should have done it to the three filthy warriors, but at that time, he couldn’t contain his rage, and killing them gave him temporary satisfaction.

"King... Zade..." Brigid stuttered. She crawled back to the dark corner of her cell, too scared to even beg for mercy, since she had tried it countless times, but it didn’t bring any result; if anything, the torture was only getting more brutal.

Meanwhile, Eudora and Enid huddled together, lowering their heads, and didn’t dare make eye contact with the king of the Lycans. They were afraid to get his attention, since it would make them end in anguish.

However, there was another gruesome detail about them aside from the wounds that didn’t heal because all of them had lost their wolf spirit: they lost the ability to heal too, just like Seara.

And another horrifying detail about them was the fact that they lost their hands. Yes. Jeremy had chopped them off to gather the information about the warriors who had come after Seara.

That was how Jeremy could gather the information pretty fast.

"W—What do you want...?" Enid trembled in fear as Zade approached her and Eudora.

The silence that followed Enid’s question made her tremble in fear.

These were the three women who had caused a deep trauma for his mate.

"Bring me the items," Zade said to the warriors, as he had mind-linked what he needed during his way here.
