Chapter 77: Chapter 77 Max Vs Obi
At the ground floor, two figures were engaged in a fast-paced battle across the air. One moved with incredible speed, while the other relied on his agility to evade the attacks.
Obi had already transformed into his Beast Form: Eagle after realizing that Max was far stronger than he had expected.
His head had transformed into that of an eagle, while a pair of wings made of yellow aura spread from his back.
On both hands, he wielded claw weapons, each equipped with three sharp blades. Obi moved rapidly across the area before suddenly shooting toward Max.
Max, who was in the air, activated Heaven Step and narrowly evaded the attack.
"His attacks are becoming faster after his transformation. I can’t keep evading him forever. I need to do something," Max said.
He had been floating in the air for approximately sixty seconds, meaning his damage had now increased to 120%.
Obi, meanwhile, was doing his best to avoid being hit by Max. He glanced at the cracks covering his armor as the result of Max’s attacks.
"His attacks are becoming stronger and stronger every time. I don’t know how he is doing it, but he’s a strong opponent. I can’t underestimate him, or I will be the one who suffers," Obi said.
Unlike the other two members of the trio, Obi was a much more cautious hunter. He carefully observed his opponent’s movements and tried to come up with a strategy.
His Beast Form: Eagle was perfectly suited to his fighting style. He could glide through the air while observing his opponent and thinking about his next move before diving toward them.
Obi suddenly intensified his speed and flew behind Max. He grabbed Max beneath the armpit before carrying him toward the sharp railing near the pole-dancing area.
Max struggled to break free, but it was extremely difficult in his current position.Obi then released him. Because of the momentum, Max was sent flying forward.
"I can’t hit anything, or my Class Effect will reset back to zero!"
At the last moment, Max activated Heaven Step, the last use available to him at that moment. He grabbed one of the poles and swung his body around it in a full 360-degree rotation before launching himself back toward Obi.
"Skyfall Rush!"
Max propelled himself toward Obi, who was surprised by Max’s maneuver. He quickly tried to evade, but Max was too fast.
BAM!!
Max slammed directly into Obi’s abdomen, shattering his armor. Obi was sent flying backward before crashing onto the nearby dance floor. Max’s Heaven Step effect reset, and he immediately jumped high into the air, positioning himself directly above Obi.
Obi shook his head before his eyes widened as he looked up at Max above him.
"Heavenly Cross Execution!"
Two massive slash waves flew toward Obi, who was directly beneath him.
BOOM!!
A powerful explosion erupted. The force shattered the dance floor tiles, sending debris flying in every direction.
When the dust began to settle, Obi was lying unconscious on the floor. The yellow aura surrounding his body had disappeared, and his eyes had rolled upward.
Max landed on the ground. After confirming that Obi had been defeated, a satisfied smile appeared on his face. His mastery of his skills had been improving day by day.
He had just managed to defeat an opponent far stronger than himself, an opponent he believed he would have had no chance of defeating with his old Class.
And it was all thanks to his Skyfall Justiciar, the Class given to him by his best friend, Lars.
"Speaking of Lars... are they already done?"
As soon as he thought about them, a sudden tremor shook the club as the second-floor area had collapsed. Max quickly rushed up the remaining staircase on the other side.
When he reached the second floor, he saw Lars sitting nearby with Ryuken, who was laughing.
"Are you the one who did that, Ryuken?" Max asked in disbelief as he pointed toward the collapsed area.
"Hahaha! Who else?" Ryuken replied while rubbing his nose with his index finger.
"That is crazy! I’ve been wondering this whole time... what Class do you actually have?" Max asked. He had watched Ryuken fight and was amazed by his incredible strength.
"Class? What are you talking about? I don’t have a Class! I don’t need one!" Ryuken said proudly.
"What?! Is that true, Lars?" Max asked in disbelief as he looked at Lars.
Lars nodded before slowly standing up. "That is true," he said.
Max’s face went blank as he tried to process everything.
"So all the things he did before...were just his brute strength?" he muttered.
"Urgh!" Lars suddenly clenched his abdomen.
Max and Ryuken were startled when they noticed that the lower half of Lars’s clothes was covered in blood.
"Lars, you’re bleeding again!" Max said as he quickly supported him.
"I... I’m fine," Lars said slowly. He still hadn’t found Celine so their objective here was not finished yet.
Meanwhile, all the remaining Black Maria members could only watch them from a distance. None of them dared to approach as they had witnessed the Beastly Trio being defeated with their own eyes.
"They... they’re monsters!"
"Someone call for help!"
"We can’t beat them!"
As the remaining members grew increasingly anxious, a male voice suddenly came from behind them.
"What is all this noise?"
Everyone turned around and their gloomy expressions instantly changed into excitement.
"White Feathers! You’re actually here!"
"Yahoo! Those bastards will never know what hit them!"
"Where have you been, White Feathers?"
White Feathers, or Kay Sung, calmly walked past the group. The members immediately parted, clearing a path for him. Kay Sung slowly walked toward Lars and the others.
"So that’s White Feathers?" Max asked with an anxious smile. With just one glance, he could already tell that this guy was bad news.
As Kay Sung walked toward them, it felt as though everything around him had slowed down, as if time itself had begun to move slower in his presence.
"White Feathers!" Lars shouted at him as his eyes burning with fury.
The second round of their battle was about to begin.
