Sekhmet looked at him. Then he asked, "Where is what?"
Mihos took another step toward him.
"Where is the seed?"
Sekhmet’s expression did not change.
Mihos looked around the courtyard as though he expected Dickoff to appear from behind one of the broken walls.
His arrival also drew out many of the remaining Iron House servants.
They had been hiding inside the underground treasure room during the battle. When the terrible fighting finally stopped and the mansion became quiet, they had assumed Dickoff had won. After all, they had felt the overwhelming chaos energy shaking the entire estate and believed no one could survive against their master while he possessed that kind of strength.
So they slowly came out of hiding.
But the moment they reached the upper halls and saw Sekhmet still standing there, their faces changed.
Dickoff was nowhere to be seen.
Sekhmet was alive.
Several servants immediately turned around, ready to run back underground or find another place to hide. Before they could move far, however, a tremendous impact shook the courtyard.
Stephen landed with Mihos.
The servants stopped.
None of them dared run now. They stayed near the doors and damaged corridors, watching from a distance. They did not know what had happened to Dickoff, but seeing Mihos arrive gave them a small amount of hope.
Perhaps Iron House had not completely lost yet.
So they remained there, frightened and silent, waiting to see what Mihos would do.
"And where is Dickoff?"
Sekhmet answered the easiest part first.
"Dickoff is dead."
Mihos stopped.
Stephen’s expression changed slightly behind him.
Mihos stared at Sekhmet. Then he asked, "What do you mean Dead?"
Sekhmet replied, "Are you stupid? Dead means Dead."
Mihos asked, "How?"
Sekhmet answered, "He used something that filled his body with more chaos energy than he could control."
Sekhmet paused, and continued, "Eventually his body could not endure it. He blew himself up and turned into ash."
Mihos’s jaw tightened. That explanation confirmed far too much. "What about the seed?"
Sekhmet looked at him as though the word meant nothing important.
"What seed are you talking about?"
Mihos stared at him.
For one moment, his anger became so obvious that even the remaining Iron House servants watching from distant doors began moving farther away.
"You saw it."
"I saw Dickoff use some strange black object."
"Where is it?"
Sekhmet gave a small shake of his head.
"I do not know."
That was a lie. Sekhmet knew exactly where it was. It was Inside the Void Land.
Somewhere in the destroyed barren region, the Chaos Tree Seed had survived Dickoff’s explosion. The System had already identified it. It was an Origin Class Artifact Seed from the middle domain of Null, a seed belonging to the Chaos Tree that the System described as the mother of all World Trees throughout the universe.
Something like that was not going back to Mihos.
Sekhmet did not care how much effort Mihos had spent obtaining it. He did not care who had originally given it to Mihos.
The seed was inside his Void Land now. That made the situation much simpler.
Mihos could search the entire Iron House. He could search Slik City. He could search every storage ring here. He would never find it.
More importantly, Mihos did not even know the Void Land existed.
Sekhmet intended to keep it that way.
He had already shown Mihos enough of his abilities during their conflict. Mihos had sent people after him, attacked his business, used Iron House against him, and treated everything like a game because he believed Sekhmet was someone he could play with whenever he wished.
Sekhmet had endured enough of those insults.
Now Mihos had lost his pieces, lost Iron House, lost the two people he had sent to support Dickoff, and by the look on his face it seems like he lost the object he had valued more than all of them.
Sekhmet had no intention of returning it simply because Mihos had arrived angry.
Mihos stepped closer to him. He asked, "You do not know?"
Sekhmet replied with a cold face. "No."
"The object disappeared immediately after Dickoff used it."
Sekhmet looked toward Stephen.
"So?"
Stephen’s eyes narrowed. He was studying Sekhmet more carefully now.
Mihos pointed at him.
"Do not play with me."
Sekhmet answered calmly.
"You came into my city, gave Dickoff something dangerous, and now Dickoff is dead. If you lost something important, perhaps you should have chosen someone more useful to hold it. Maybe you shouldn’t give it to someone else if it’s that important."
Sofia’s lips moved slightly. Natasha looked away for a moment. Neither woman wanted Mihos to notice their reaction.
Yet Mihos did. His face darkened further.
"You think this is funny?"
"No."
Sekhmet looked directly into his eyes.
"I think you made a bad decision."
That was worse.
Mihos had been angry when he arrived.
Now the anger began overcoming the little restraint he still had.
Stephen took one small step forward.
"Young master."
It sounded like a warning.
Mihos ignored it.
"The seed is not something you can hide."
Sekhmet did not respond.
Mihos continued, "You do not understand what you touched."
Sekhmet knew far more than Mihos believed. The System had already told him what it was.
Mihos probably did not even know its full origin.
That possibility made Sekhmet even less willing to say anything.
Mihos stared at him for several seconds. Then his expression changed. The rage stopped moving outward. It concentrated on everything.
He looked at Stephen.
"Kill everyone else but Sekhmet."
The courtyard became still.
Stephen looked at him.
"Young master?"
Mihos pointed toward Sekhmet.
"Capture him alive."
Sofia and Natasha immediately stepped forward. Their remaining Half-God chaos energy spread around them.
Sekhmet’s eyes narrowed.
Mihos continued as though the two women did not matter.
"Break him if you need to. Then search his soul."
Stephen’s expression became more serious.
A soul search.
Performed by a God.
On a mortal.
That was not interrogation. It was destruction.
Mihos looked directly at Sekhmet.
"If he knows where the seed is, take the memory out of his soul."
Sekhmet’s hand moved slightly. He could open the Void Land instantly.
Sofia and Natasha were already preparing to attack.
But Stephen was a mid-rank God.
That changed everything.
Even two Half-Gods were nowhere near enough to stop him directly.
Stephen took another step. Divine chaos energy began gathering around his body.
The courtyard stones cracked.
Sofia and Natasha both lowered their bodies.
Sekhmet felt the pressure touch him. Then another divine presence entered the Iron House.
It arrived so quickly that Stephen turned his head before anyone else understood what was happening.
A figure crossed the outer wall.
Elena landed between Stephen and Sekhmet. The stone beneath her boots broke from the force of her arrival.
Her back faced Sekhmet. Her eyes were fixed entirely on Stephen and Mihos.
Divine chaos energy rolled from her body.
It was not enough to attack. But it was enough to make it clear that anyone who wanted Sekhmet would have to pass through her first.
Mihos’s expression changed.
Stephen became completely serious.
Elena looked at Mihos.
"How dare you."
Mihos did not answer.
Elena’s voice became colder.
"A God performing a soul search on a mortal can destroy his mind completely. Even if the body survives, he could become nothing more than a living vegetable."
She took one step forward.
"You want to do that to a member of Dawn House?"
The courtyard became silent. Stephen’s divine pressure remained.
Elena’s divine pressure answered it. Neither side attacked. Not yet....
