The System answered.
[Confirmation taken.
Blood Proficiency: 100/100 consumed.
Blood Control Lv2 → Blood Control Lv3.]
Sekhmet felt the change immediately.
It began in his heart.
One heavy beat.
Then another.
His blood suddenly became clearer to his senses than it had ever been before. He could feel every drop moving through his body. He could feel the blood still scattered across the Iron House courtyard. Elena’s blood. Sofia’s. Natasha’s. Stephen’s small traces of divine blood left from the wounds they had managed to give him.
He could even feel the blood of people hiding deeper inside the mansion.
Hundreds of heartbeats.
Hundreds of living bodies.
For one short moment, the entire Iron House estate seemed to become a map made from blood.
Sekhmet’s pupils narrowed.
The System continued.
[Blood Control Lv3 acquired.
Blood control range increased.
Blood manipulation precision increased.
The host may exert stronger influence over blood belonging to higher-ranked beings.
Host blood resistance greatly increased.]

Three targets.
Sekhmet looked at Sofia.
Then Natasha.
Then Elena.
Exactly three.
He almost wondered whether the System had chosen the skill because of the situation instead of merely offering something that happened to fit it.
There was no time to think about that.
Stephen attacked again.
Elena had only just emerged from the broken section of the mansion when the old butler appeared in front of her.
His fist struck her injured arm.
The newly repaired bone broke again.
Elena twisted with the impact instead of taking it directly and kicked Stephen across the side of his body.
He moved less than a step.
Natasha came from behind.
Her claws struck toward Stephen’s neck.
The strange pressure around him changed.
Natasha slowed.
Stephen caught her wrist without even turning fully.
He twisted.
Her arm broke.
Sofia attacked from the other side with a blood blade.
Stephen raised his second hand.
The blade stopped several inches from his face.
Then it shattered.
A force struck Sofia’s chest and threw her backward.
Elena moved between Stephen and the two women.
Her breathing was much rougher now.
Still, she raised her working hand.
Stephen looked at her.
"You are going to destroy your own divine foundation for him."
Elena spat another mouthful of blood onto the stone.
"He is worth more than you."
Mihos’s expression darkened at that.
Stephen did not react.
He simply prepared another attack.
Sekhmet moved.
Not toward Stephen.
Toward Sofia.
She had landed near him after being thrown across the courtyard. She was already trying to stand when Sekhmet reached her.
Sofia looked up.
"My king?"
Sekhmet placed one hand against her shoulder.
She immediately felt something different.
Not ordinary Blood Control.
Not Vampire Creation.
Something deeper.
The blood inside her body responded to Sekhmet before he had even activated the new skill fully.
Sekhmet looked toward Natasha.
"You too."
Natasha understood the order and came toward him despite the injury in her arm.
"What are you going to do?"
"Give you enough power to change this fight."
Both women became serious.
Sofia asked the more important question.
"What will it cost?"
Sekhmet did not lie.
"Afterward, your ranks may fall for months."
Natasha looked toward Stephen.
Then toward Elena.
Then back at Sekhmet.
"How much stronger?"
"I do not know yet."
Sofia did not hesitate.
"Do it."
Natasha nodded immediately.
"If it lets us tear that old man apart, I can spend a few months weaker."
Sofia glanced at her.
"You always make everything sound simple."
"It becomes simpler when the answer is already yes."
Sekhmet looked at both women.
Their answer did not surprise him.
They had already fought a God for him while knowing they might die.
This was simply the next step.
He would corrupt Sofia first.
Then Natasha.
After learning what the skill did to two Half-Gods, he would use the third and final slot on Elena.
That would be the dangerous one.
The first wave of new presences entered Sekhmet’s senses before he could activate the skill.
Many people were approaching Iron House.
They were fast.
He turned his head toward the outer wall.
Mihos noticed it too.
A moment later, several powerful figures appeared on the rooftops surrounding the Iron House district.
More followed behind them.
Mihos’s people had finally arrived from the camp.
They had not been able to match Stephen’s speed while he carried Mihos through the air, so they had fallen behind during the journey. Now the first group reached the mansion, followed by guards, fighters, and several stronger cultivators Mihos had brought with him to the lower domain.
Iron House servants who had been hiding near the mansion entrance saw them and immediately showed relief.
Their relief lasted only a few seconds.
Another group appeared from the opposite direction.
Battle maids.
Dawn House battle maids moved through the streets in formation, weapons already drawn. Elena’s order had reached them before she left, and they had prepared as quickly as possible before coming toward Iron House.
The first maid jumped over the outer wall.
Then another.
Then several more.
Raka and the lesser vampires surrounding the estate also moved from their hidden positions when they saw Mihos’s reinforcements approaching.
The quiet siege around Iron House disappeared.
It was becoming a battlefield.
Mira, Lily, Vera, and Vela returned from inside the mansion at almost the same time.
They had felt the divine battle from everywhere inside Iron House. They had continued following Sekhmet’s earlier order until the arrival of more enemies made remaining separated too dangerous.
Lily reached the courtyard first.
Her eyes immediately found Elena.
Blood covered Elena’s clothes.
Lily’s expression changed.
Mira arrived behind her and looked toward Mihos’s newly arriving forces.
"They brought the camp."
Vera and Vela appeared from the other side.
Both twins drew their swords.
Behind the outer walls, Raka shouted orders to the lesser vampires.
The battle maids spread around the Dawn House side.
Mihos’s people landed across the opposite side of the estate.
Iron House servants ran farther into the mansion because they finally understood what was about to happen.
Mihos slowly rose from his stone seat.
He looked around at the forces gathering on both sides.
His eyes eventually returned to Sekhmet.
Sekhmet ignored him.
His hand remained on Sofia’s shoulder.
Blood Control Level Three responded.
Blood Corruption waited.
Three targets.
Sofia.
Natasha.
Elena.
And inside Sekhmet’s blood, something much older had already begun to stir.
The Blood God Will.
The next battle would not be fought the same way as the last one.
