Death Flag System: I Became An Extra From The Author Who Killed Me!
Chapter 178: Pink Haired Bastards"Quiet Bell... A small silver bell with a plain design. It makes no sound when shaken unless its ability is activated, huh. When rung, it creates a small area of silence around the user for a few seconds. Its negative effect, however, is that the user also becomes unable to hear anything while the small area of silence is active.
"Warmstone...A smooth, palm-sized stone that is very warm if you touch it... When holding it with your hands for one minute, the stone releases enough heat to keep one person comfortably warm for several minutes... Its bad effect is that after being used for too long, the stone becomes cold and cannot produce heat for an hour.
"Traveler’s Night...A small black lantern with a dim blue flame inside. It requires magic stones to work...The lantern provides a steady light that can last throughout the night. Its bad effect is that the light is only visible from a short distance, making it difficult to use for signaling others."
Cillian gave her all the available options he was willing to trade, and Caspin finally decided which one she wanted. She chose to play it safe. She didn’t pick the other Artifacts Cillian currently had because of their negative effects.
It sucked to trade Artifacts when they could be used for simple things like this.
However, what Cillian was really looking for was a long-term deal with Caspin. Giving her an Artifact in exchange for information would definitely give him more options in the future while also allowing him to build a relationship with her.
Besides, most of the Artifacts he currently possessed had come from the dead Shepherds he had fought. And it’s not like Caspin would openly show them in public, since she wasn’t dumb enough to announce, "I have good Artifacts! They’re up for the taking!" or something like that.
Then, as if she had made up her mind, Caspin nodded.
"I’ll get these three early in the morning."
"No problem."
Caspin extended her hand forward.
"Pleasure doing business with you."
Looking at the hand she offered him, Cillian smiled and accepted it.
’I’m at a loss here but... it’s for the future.’
Cillian pondered and answered her.
"The pleasure is mine."
Caspin didn’t know why Cillian had taken an interest in what was happening in another city when there was so much more happening in theirs, but she didn’t really care about the reason.
She’ll just do her job well, and she’s very good at it.
"Thank you for listening."
As their own negotiations at the table came to a halt, Finn’s speech also came to an end, prompting a round of applause from everyone in the hall.
Finn began to sneakily leave from the middle, where everyone was watching him, before being replaced by his wife, Linda Montolov as she gathered everyone’s attention to her.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, Kash’s attention shifted entirely toward their table when he noticed that someone was missing.
"Where’s Cillian?"
Caspin, who had only been paying attention to him, answered on behalf of the group at the table. She was the only one whose attention was divided between Cillian and Finn while the attendees gave them a round of applause.
"He left."
...
Instead of following Finn and potentially giving the impression that he was either stalking him or trying to do something bad, Cillian stayed behind with his father and uncle, Lloyd. The other Sparrows from different families were also present, as the leaders of each branch had gathered here, aside from a few plus-ones like Cillian.
Eventually, they were all led to a room. Finn Montolov was already there with a few helpers beside him, either workers or servants who acted as his guards.
Right beside those people...
’Pink hair...’
Cillian was never a fan of such colors since they were too blinding, but it seemed he had to pay attention to these people because of their striking similarity to one another. He thought he’d only have to focus on them once the Academy started, but he was most definitely wrong.
The direct descendants of the Xesie Family shared a similar trait that they were known for which is their pink hair. It was something people had talked about for years whenever the Xesie Family was mentioned by those who knew of them.
It was quite aesthetic to look at, and Cillian’s first impression upon seeing one of them was that they didn’t seem to belong to this world.
Nobody knew the true reason behind their unusual hair color, but it was the first thing that came to mind whenever people talked about the Xesie Family’s physical appearance.
However, there was a reason why this family had become one of the great families.
If the Viola Family was known for its vast Underworld, the Xesie Family was known for its bridges.
Long, tall, enormous bridges.
"I’m sure this came as a surprise to you. However, I’ve just received this letter from Lord Harper Xesie himself, and he told me that he’s willing to support this land so that it can return to its previous state before the God’s Descent occurred."
’Support? Are you kidding me? We needed that thing weeks ago, and everyone remained quiet because we had nothing. Finn, didn’t he just doubt that something was going on with this?’
Cillian pondered inwardly as his opinion of the man of the Montolov Family continued to decline. The meeting continued, and he grew more disappointed with each passing moment, until he suddenly heard a voice in his head.
-’Pst. Cillian Sparrow.’
It was coming from Finn Montolov.
-’This is Finn Montolov talking to you, but don’t react so much, or these pink-haired bastards from Xesie might notice.’
Cillian almost reacted, nearly jolting awake when the person in question, Finn, suddenly called out to him out of nowhere.
-’I know you’ll find my next words unbelievable, but I think these people from Xesie smell like trouble. Their actions are so unexpected that even I was caught off guard by their sudden "visit." Oh, before you become suspicious, I’m currently using an Artifact to transfer this information to you through a recording. And to fulfill the recording’s condition, you must be near me.’
Cillian’s lips curled upward slightly as his eyes narrowed at Finn.
’I’m going to spout some bullshit in this meeting so these bastards won’t know what we’re talking about. I don’t want to cause a rift between us when I’m trying to form a good relationship, especially since this meeting was supposed to be only between the Sparrows and the Montolovs. I wanted to personally thank you for rescuing my daughter, but that should be moved to another time so these Xesie bastards won’t become aware of it.’
Just as the recording came to a halt, Cillian saw Finn glance at him, his eyes cold. Yet the tone in the recording had sounded so friendly and even humorous at the same time.
-’Anyways, you might find my words during the meeting weird, and your father and uncle might react differently, but trust me on this one. This is for the good of our two families.’
Then, there was silence.
The recording had stopped as Finn continued introducing the Sparrows with the Xesie.
’The good of our two families...’
Cillian almost let out a soft laugh.
Finn Montolov was blatantly aware of the Xesie Family’s abrupt and unusual appearance in Viola.
And he wasn’t going to allow these pink-haired bastards to learn more about their business.
’I take back what I said about you, Finn. You’re hella interesting.’
