Just as Finn had said in his recording, after discovering that the Xesie Family had suddenly arrived in their territory with little notice, the meeting that was supposed to be filled with meaningful words and formalities ended up being nothing but empty talk.

"Why can’t skeletons fight each other? Because they don’t have the guts."

Instead, he was mixing jokes into his words, making it hard to take him seriously.

The Sparrows in the room had mixed expressions as they wondered what stance they should take before all their gazes shifted toward Lloyd, Leo’s younger brother.

He had the final say in anything the Sparrows would decide from this point onward. Hence, he must’ve found Montolov’s words to be a joke, mocking them as if telling them that they were nothing but dogs who deserved to be treated this way.

What everyone failed to notice was that Lloyd was glancing at Cillian from the corner of his eye.

After all, it was Cillian who had introduced this meeting to Leo and informed him about the circumstances behind it.

When Lloyd saw that Cillian wasn’t reacting, he continued listening to the jokes coming out of Finn’s mouth with his fists clenched.

There had to be a reason for this... and Leo couldn’t help but look toward the direct descendants of the Xesie Family, who were simply listening to the meeting without showing any reaction whatsoever.

’Who is it?’

If not for the recording, Cillian might not have noticed what Finn was trying to do. In fact, he might’ve been wearing the same confused expression as the rest of the Sparrows.

That’s why he thought about what could’ve led to one silent, disastrous situation after another and came to one final conclusion.

’Who is it?’

Who is the traitor amongst the Sparrows?

Cillian’s interest in the Whisper Broker was so-so. He was only interested in things related to his family, but anything beyond that was something Cillian didn’t care about. As long as the other Sparrows weren’t harming his family, he was willing to let it slide.

But a traitor?

That’s dangerous.

Considering the fact that they were spilling matters related to Viola to Xesie, Cillian found it rather dangerously amusing.

’Heh, interesting. What’s the purpose of leaking this?’

Why wouldn’t Cillian think there was a traitor? Why did he come to that conclusion right away?

It was simple.

This matter was supposed to remain hidden, with the only connection between the Sparrows and the Montolovs being Cillian himself. He was the one who passed the message to his father, Leo. Then, all of a sudden, just as the party was nearing its end, the Xesie Family decided to make an appearance?

That couldn’t be a coincidence.

[White Flag]

[White Flag]

[White Flag]

[White Flag]

As if the timing were just perfect, Cillian noticed White Flags manifesting above everyone in the room except those who already had Death Flags.

However, the same thing didn’t happen to Cillian. His was supposed to remain as a mere White Flag since he wasn’t doing anything.

Yet his expectations had gone level higher once more.

His flag changed.

[White Flag] -> [Black Flag]

Seeing the notification pop up in his peripheral vision, Cillian felt a shiver run down his spine before looking ahead.

Lavender eyes.

Each of the sons and daughters of the Xesie Family who had been brought into the room was staring in his direction.

As if they sensed that something was wrong with the meeting and realized that Finn was merely toying with them, those lavender eyes remained fixed on him, as though he were the source of this strange meeting that was unfolding.

They had already been keeping a close eye on Cillian and Finn earlier, but they had never seen the two of them interact. At least, as far as they knew, the two had never met directly before this day.

’What’s with those stares? You think I’m the only one pulling the strings? These fuckers...’

They weren’t hiding their hostility toward Cillian.

Their Death Flags had affected his White Flag.

’What’s with these people showing hostility toward me specifically...’

Cillian’s lips started to curl upward.

’...you Xesie bastards.’

Soon, Finn stopped discussing the topic, which everyone had already realized was full of bullshit, before the room fell silent.

It was Finn who noticed the strange atmosphere in the room before looking at one of the Xesie Family members who had been sent here as an envoy. He was the leader of their group and was also two years older than Cillian.

He had short, messy pink hair and sharp lavender eyes. His defined jaw and cheekbones gave him a mature appearance, while his broad shoulders and lean build made him look athletic. He wore a dark, well-fitted coat with silver details, contrasting with his unusual pink hair.

Then, he ’confessed’.

"Actually, I need the help of everyone here in the room. With Finn Montolov’s help and the Whisper Broker, I thought spreading this information would be easy."

The man, Kairus, paused.

"The Academy is resuming its activities. Everyone is advised to move one week before its opening, especially students from Viola. Students are advised to transfer immediately."

...

The Memorial Service

It was supposed to be an event where people focused on honoring those who had lost their lives in the two previous attacks. Most people who hadn’t attended Montolov’s Party were still focused on that matter as they mourned the dead.

Whether they were friends or strangers, those who had died in the attacks on the Academy and Viola itself were buried deep in the ground to commemorate their deaths. It was supposed to be a time when everyone was given a chance to mourn those they knew or not.

However, the atmosphere changed for those who happened to hear the news from Cillian himself.

The Academy resuming its activities.

They already knew that it was happening, but for it to happen at this time made it feel like a forced event meant to achieve something.

Even Cillian couldn’t focus on mourning the dead.

’Fuck... fuck... fuck...’

Cillian kept cursing inwardly as he closed his eyes.

’It’s confirmed now. These fuckers seem to be aware of the current situation in the Underworld.’

What’s going to happen to his plan to become King of the Underworld if things weren’t going according to plan anymore?

’Ah shit...’

Cillian was genuinely confused by this turn of events. He had really felt this confusion when those Xesie bastards entered the hall with Death Flags above their heads.

Did they come up with this plan so that whatever was about to happen in the Underworld wouldn’t suddenly blow up?

’My brain’s hurting from all this thinking. I can’t figure out what these bastards are planning. At least, not yet.’

By the looks of it, his trip to the Academy had been fast-forwarded while whatever was about to happen in the Underworld tomorrow had been halted.

’It was fucking stopped again...’

Cillian couldn’t help but stare into the distance, where countless crosses with epitaphs stood across the open land where most of the dead were buried.

Then, he let out another sigh.

’I’m starting to get pissed.’

There should be a limit to how much these bastards can influence the world, right?

’Maybe this is the limit?’

It was then that Cillian felt someone grab his shoulder, making him look to the side.

"Cillian. Long time no see."

[Death Flag]

This person with seaweed-like hair looked across the burial grounds where many students from the Academy had died before calling out to Cillian.

"I’ve heard everything from Finn."

He paused.

"Do you have any guards yet? I’ll take that role for you."

It was the previous third-year principal, Darwin Moose.
