Annie watched as five enemies lunged at the castle. With a single thought she created more guns on the castle walls.
Bullets made of pure lunar esper blazed through the sky leaving silver streaks behind, ’ They’re much slower than before.’
Normally these bullets would be as if not a bit faster than lightning but right now they were much slower than that.
Hitting level 8 enemies with such slow bullets was nearly impossible so she relied on numbers.
The rain of bullets covered the entire sky and surrounded the castle like an impenetrable dome.
Besides the guns were massive cannons, power gathered in them with each passing moment.
’ Down to 70 percent.’ the castle originally had enough charge to last her weeks of constant battles.
But right now the esper was being drained at a much higher rate than it should’ve been possible.
Forget weeks, she doubted it would last more than a day and even that might be a stretch.
A giant wave of water descended from the sky and washed away the rain of bullets, countless tons of water crashed towards the castle like an endless wave.
Annie activated the barrier, a transparent silver barrier materialised around the castle blocking the massive wave.
The castle shook from the force and was pushed back hundreds of metres, the transparent barrier cracked but it held.
She infused her psionic esper into the sceptre and crown increasing her control of the castle.
If its own charge wasn’t enough then she would add her own power. All the cannons disappeared replaced by only one.
It was much larger with a barrel 40 metres long and 10 metres in diameter, its imposing presence made even her enemies wary of it.
Annie watched all them with hawk like eyes and her attention landed on the weakest link, the Avian.
He was getting slower and slower with each passing moment and looking at him she immediately figured out why.
A weary smile appeared on her lips, " Even in you last breath, you still left him such a grand present, as expected of a werewolf."
A tear streaked down her cheeks then her green eyes turned dark and cold like an endless night of a sunless winter.
10 massive chains flew out of the castle and moved like serpents through the air heading for the five enemies.
Of the seven level 8 enemies, all the Espara came after her, the vampire and white tiger went after Eve’s parents.
Or rather Eve’s parents went after them, they hated vampires so there was no suprise there.
As of the white tiger, their reasoning was simple, since they were ghost and can turn invisible.
They had an advantage against a physical brute like the white tiger race and they were right.
Eve’s mother was gaining an advantage against the white tiger and slowly draining its blood with each touch.
As for the vampire, Eve’s father was at a slight disadvantage, he died by losing all of his blood.
Naturally as a ghost he manifested the ability to control and suck blood out of his enemies and so did his wife.
But vampires had the same ability and their control over blood was more strategic and versatile.
Still, he was a ghost and couldn’t be killed a second time nor did the vampire had the means to exorcise him.
So even though he was losing, he had the liberty to play the long game of attrition which a vampire couldn’t.
Vampires had been stated to be half undead but that couldn’t be further from the truth, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to give birth of grow.
They were living beings with stamina and a limited amount of esper, ghosts on the other hand didn’t have such limitations.
They could constantly draw esper from the underworld depending on how much their spirit bodies can handle.
While the output of their esper was limited, they could release it endlessly making it impossible to outlast them.
After making sure those two were fine and holding the other two back, Annie turned towards her own fight.
’ How do I play this? None of these guys are weaklings, even with the castle I can’t defeat them five to one.
I need to buy time until he returns but I can at least kill one of them.’ her eyes focused on the Avian.
The Inkstone Espara jumped to the sky, he reached to his back and drew out a tattoo of a massive hammer.
Annie focused her eyes above her, her gaze pierced through the castle walls and watched a hammer descending towards the castle.
It was massive, the hammerhead was more than a hundred metres in length and over 60 metres in width.
The Espara holding the end of the 200 metres long handle looked like a toy in comparison.
The wind howled and heavy gales hit the castle before the hammer ever could, the surroundings were blown everywhere.
Annie raised her hand, she didn’t use the castle this time and instead grabbed the Espara directly with her telekinesis.
He was caught off guard but before he could react she clenched her fist. His bones creaked and his arm broke.
He was not like the werewolves or vampires and couldn’t regenerate such a wound in a short time.
On the contrary, for people like them due to how tough their bodies were, without external help, healing was much slower and took significantly longer.
He managed to shake off the invisible force crushing his body. " AHHHHHH!" He roared in rage.
His hammer landed on the castle barrier and came to a stop for a moment then the barrier cracked.
Knowing it wouldn’t be able to hold she cancelled it to save energy then fired a volley of bullets at him.
The Espara did not bother dodging, he pulled out a shield tattoo from his chest and it expanded to a dozen metres.
The bullets bounced off the pitch black shield and the hammer hit the castle, the ground sunk around them.
A shockwave spread out ripping everything to shreds, when the dust cleared the castle appeared on a massive crater.
There were cracks running across the walls and most of the guns mounted there had been destroyed.
’ It’s really in pure condition.’ this was not an illusion, that attack had really dealt much damage to the castle.
Normally it would be able to shrug one attack of that level easily but currently it was under too much strength.
This invisible barrier weakening them was affecting it just as much, ’ It’s done.’ she grinned.
’ Even if I lose here, I’m taking one of you with me.’ the massive cannon glowed with blinding silver light.
It was so sudden they barely had time to react and then rushed to defend them but before they could.
They heard a howling of a wolf directly in their heads, a giant green wolf eye appeared in the air.
Then to their horror they found their bodies unable to move. The cannon fired a beam of pure lunar esper.
It covered the distance in an instant like a calamitous bolt of lightning. Her target though was not the Avian.
It was the Inkstone Espara, the beam incinerated his body leaving nothing but a human shaped ice statue.
The statue shattered into tiny ice fragments, the battlefield froze, everybody watched in horror, especially the remaining members of the Inkstone clan.
" Hahahaha, still wanna go?!" Annie shouted terrifying them. ’ I’m out, using that dream illusion drained all of my esper, I can’t hold on.’
The remaining four looked at each other and hesitated, then Render attacked. His sword cleaved towards the castle walls ready to take them down.
Fred pulled his sword ready to meet his head on disregarding the disparity in their levels.
" Do not worry my lady, it is my duty to protect the castle and I shall do so with my life."
The rest of his lineage stood behind him, the world seemed to slow down. ’ Damnit Damnit Damnit, where are you!’ Annie screamed in her head.
" Birds." Everybody heard a low deep voice, Render’s sword came to a stop, standing before him was a man clad in full armour of silver holding the sword with one hand.
His silver eyes went through the entire battlefield then landed on the four before him as if studying them.
" I admire birds, remarkable creatures they are. Did you know that when a storm approaches.
They run to seek shelter instinctively, long before the storm arrives, tiny weak things they are but their sense of danger is remarkable.
It’s a pity, I can not remember their song anymore." His silver glowing eyes seemed to pierce through their very souls.
" You should’ve ran."
