Divine Beast Creator

Chapter 2528 - 2529: Clue Interrupted

"This is..."

Staring at the bizarre scenery ahead, even Feng Yuan was taken aback. There was no way around it; the Time River led by Tamur, which they had been tracking, differed significantly from the conventional Time River. One could even say this segment of the Time River had mutated.

Originally, with deep darkness as the backdrop and dazzling colors beyond cognitive limits as embellishments, the Time River was filled with mystique, like a shy beauty laughing lightly while half-concealed in ethnic attire. But now, the Time River was completely different.

Ominous blood-red hues spread across the entire Time River, replacing all colors. Darkness was expelled, and the whole Time River appeared brighter, yet this was far from normal.

"The Time River has been occupied, hasn’t it?"

Veronia looked at Feng Yuan and said. This scene was extremely weird, and she wasn’t sure whether she should summon Agunas and the others here. After all, with such anomalies, they couldn’t possibly ignore them.

"Wait, it doesn’t seem occupied, but... that can’t be right. Can the Time River undergo such changes?"

Initially, Feng Yuan thought the Time River was undergoing drastic changes. However, upon reflection, he realized something was amiss. It wasn’t that he noticed any flaws; this indeed was the Time River.

But, such a mutation couldn’t have occurred just as they arrived. Before this, Feng Yuan was certain that no significant adverse changes had happened in the real world.

One must know that the Time River is prohibited from being tampered with arbitrarily because it can easily cause irreversible impacts and changes to the real world.

Given how this place had changed, it couldn’t possibly have no effect on the real world.

With this thought, Feng Yuan examined closely and then detected anomalies. Rather than calling this place the Time River, it was more like a peculiar location.

Here, orderly time became chaotic and disordered, but unlike peculiar natural phenomena like time vortexes, rather than being a mutation, it seemed more like a special domain within the Time River.

Just as domains like the Data Domain don’t directly alter the real world’s terrain, this thing appeared to Feng Yuan precisely as a special domain within the Time River. Yet, this was odd, since the Time River itself is entirely constructed from time rules. How could a special domain influenced by space rules appear in such unrelated places?

"This should be a special domain within the Time River, like the Data Domain, only I don’t understand why such a thing would appear?"

Gazing at the blood-red Time River, Feng Yuan said, exasperated. This thing appeared entirely abnormal, yet due to the special nature of special domains, he might directly call Agunas otherwise.

With no choice, the Time River is too important; they couldn’t tolerate wanton interference, alteration, or destruction of the Time River.

"Special domain? Why would the Time River have such a thing?"

Suspiciously glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia felt as though he was messing with her; could there really be a special domain?

"How would I know; anyway, for now, this place should be a special area outside the Time River’s body, not affecting the Time River itself but situated within a special area range of the Time River."

"Hmm, might this thing have appeared to connect different time tributaries?"

Feng Yuan couldn’t help but frown as he wondered about a certain possibility. If that were the case, it wouldn’t be a benign phenomenon. Although the mystery of this special space hadn’t yet been thoroughly investigated, the ability to connect different time streams seemed beyond the scope of conventional power.

At least regarding Feng Yuan’s existing knowledge, Agunas and the others might not have the capability to do this, though it’s possible this space is naturally formed.

But what the hell is going on?

"Not good!"

Before Feng Yuan came to any conclusions, Tamur suddenly exclaimed, and the space vibrated continuously. Seeing this, Feng Yuan and Veronia were compelled to act, yet this area still maintained the special characteristics of the previous special space. Even if it was suspected to be near the Time River, ordinary energy was difficult to summon.

This was particularly troublesome for Veronia, while for Feng Yuan, upon sensing trouble, he promptly altered his power.

A spherical, semi-transparent barrier, burning with black flames, instantly appeared to enclose the group. At the same time, the vibrations intensified, revealing numerous space fractures in the surrounding area. In merely moments, this blood-red space resembled a nearly shattered mirror full of cracks.

Amidst an untraceable shattering sound, the blood-red space completely fragmented, and the spherical barrier enveloped in black flames suddenly sank and floated up.

Looking at the familiar Time River below, everyone remained silent. That space just now was probably artificially manufactured. If naturally formed, the environment shouldn’t be so fragile, especially considering it formed above the extremely important Time River.

"We’ve lost the trail."

Sighing, Feng Yuan said helplessly, as the flames surrounding the barrier intensified. The next moment, these flames completely obscured everyone’s vision. Mere seconds later, they felt a jolt, as if the barrier collided with something, and the flames that blocked their sight swiftly dissipated.

"This is... can we really return to the original special space?"

Looking around at the world reverting to twisted forms, Feng Yuan was stunned. He hadn’t expected such a situation. When space shattered, he chose to fall back to the original area to avoid traveling to a weird place without calculating time-space coordinates.

Yet, what he didn’t expect was that falling back would return them to this special space.

"This place didn’t shatter."

Veronia surveyed the surroundings in surprise. Due to the initial protection still being intact, Qi Chen and the others weren’t uncomfortable.

"In that case, let’s investigate this thing. As for other matters... we’ll see if there’s any outcome."

Staring at the blood-red giant gene model, Feng Yuan spoke helplessly. If they hadn’t tracked the Time River to discover that special change, he might not have felt anything. But now, clearly having nearly grasped the opponent, they suddenly failed, leaving Feng Yuan still quite discontented.

"Uh-huh, this thing really is bizarre."

Perhaps because of the collapse of the special space within the Time River, the top of this giant blood-red DNA model had disappeared, and the cuts at both ends varied in height, appearing as if they’d been brutally torn apart.

However, just as Veronia intended to examine it clearly, the damaged top began to recover slowly. Though it didn’t extend to other spaces, the top had leveled off, seeming like the model’s top at this position.

"Self-repair function? If it’s destroyed, what will happen?"

Glancing at Feng Yuan attempting to contact the blood-red DNA model, Veronia muttered quietly.

"What’s happened again..."

Sighing, Gladys pinched her fingers on the cards and tossed the inexplicable cards to Anna. Lately, during her readings, strange cards appeared that neither belonged to her deck nor related to her divination.

Gladys was perplexed as to why her card readings had recently become so bizarre and eerie.

"I don’t know, but this time you drew two extra cards."

Anna pointed at Gladys’s pile of cards. A card with a deep blue back stood out among the dark red-backed pile. Gladys drew the peculiar card and threw it to Anna without even looking.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to interpret it, but this thing was impossible to decipher; the answers gave by the card were entirely unrelated to her reading.

Gladys’s reading was about where to choose for today’s date, and these mysterious cards clearly couldn’t answer such a question.

"This card should represent emotions, this one, crossroads?"

Unlike Gladys, Anna took a serious look at the two cards and found they differed from previous abstract paintings. One card depicted a woman with a half-crying, half-smiling face, while the other showed a fork in a yellow mud path.

"What do these two cards mean exactly?"

Thinking it over, Anna couldn’t come up with an answer that convinced herself.
