Chapter 582: Chapter 580: What Exactly Is She Trying to Do?

But the moment Mika finished speaking, she suddenly remembered something.

Just last night, she’d been racking her brain, trying to figure out what she’d forgotten...

’Jasmine’s gift! That’s right, the thing I’d forgotten last night was the gift.’

At that thought, Mika whipped around, bent over, and began rummaging through the gift boxes on the floor.

One second she was saying she wouldn’t fight him for the presents, and the next she was doing just that. Kiki was furious. He raised his little hands and started tugging on Mika’s arm. "Mommy, you broke your promise! You said you wouldn’t try to take them from me."

"Be good, Kiki," Mika soothed. "I’m not trying to take the other ones. I just need to find a very important gift that an aunty sent me."

Kiki grudgingly relented. "Okay, fine! Just one! The rest are all mine!"

"Okay."

Seeing Mika frantically rummaging on the floor, Tristan Grayson walked over. "A gift from who? What’s so important?"

"It’s from Jasmine." As she spoke, Mika’s eyes landed on a manila envelope on the floor. The sender’s name was written on it: Jasmine Warren.

Seeing that it was an envelope, the tension in Mika’s brow eased. "This girl... her gifts are always so different from everyone else’s." ’Then again, that’s just like her.’

Smiling, Mika picked up the envelope and stood.

When Kiki saw that his mother was only holding a paper envelope, his curiosity vanished. He decided he was right not to want a piece of junk like that.

So, he lowered his head and began to earnestly inspect the gift in his arms.

"Open it. Let’s see what’s inside." But as Tristan looked at the envelope in Mika’s hand, his brow furrowed. A sudden wave of anxiety washed over him. He didn’t know why, but he felt deeply, profoundly uneasy.

"Okay." Mika nodded. She tore open the envelope’s seal. The moment she did, a photograph began to slide out. The first person she saw in it was Tristan.

It was a picture of a man and a woman. The man was Tristan. The woman... the woman was...

When she saw who the woman was, her first instinct was to cover the photo with her hand, to keep Tristan from seeing it, to keep herself from seeing it. But it was too late. He had already reacted, snatching the photo from the envelope.

"Maggie Monroe?" Tristan’s handsome face darkened. When he spoke, his voice was ice-cold. "Why is there a picture of me and Maggie?" At that, Tristan realized he was losing his composure. He looked up, his gaze darting nervously to Mika. Seeing that her expression was just as grim as his, he rushed to explain, "Mika, I swear, I never took this picture. I have no memory of it at all."

"But the people in the picture *are* you and Maggie Monroe." ’Even if he didn’t pose for it, they look so intimate. It can’t possibly be fake.’

Even though everything with Maggie Monroe was in the past, the moment Mika saw her face, her mind went completely blank, filled with a deafening BUZZ.

The nightmares that had once plagued her came rushing back. She fought to keep them at bay, fought to stay calm...

Tristan was furious now. Seeing that the envelope still contained more photos and a letter, he snatched it from Mika’s hand. "What the hell is your friend trying to do? We’re getting married! What’s the meaning of sending this picture? Give it here. Let me see what she’s trying to pull."
