Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 583 - 581: Won’t LeaveChapter 583: Chapter 581: Won’t Leave
Tristan Grayson tore open the paper envelope. Two small, one-inch photos fell out. He was also holding two larger photos, a letter, and a document.
Seeing these items, looking at the people in the photos, and then at the few conspicuous lines on the document, Tristan Grayson’s expression turned incredibly cold and grim. It was truly the first time he had ever seen someone send such a gift on another person’s wedding day. A gift like this was obviously sent with ulterior motives.
Fortunately, they hadn’t opened the gift on their wedding day. If they had, Mika Summers might have cut all ties with him right then and there.
He had some recollection of that Jasmine Warren. Although the impression wasn’t strong, he remembered she was Mika Summers’s good friend. Why would she send something like this?
’What on earth had I done to offend her?’
Mika Summers bent down and picked up the two small photos from the floor. She stood on her tiptoes to peek at the two large photos in Tristan’s hands. The people in the small and large photos were identical; it was just that the small photos were a bit old, while the large ones were newly developed.
One photo showed four people and looked like a family portrait. The other photo was of two children; a little boy who looked to be around seven or eight, and a little girl who seemed to be only three or four.
At first glance, Mika Summers didn’t think much of it. She just didn’t understand why Jasmine would want her to see these two photos. But when she noticed Tristan’s grim expression, she looked down at the photos in his hands again. This time, her heart suddenly began to race. There were words on the photo of the two children—words. ’Roya Monroe, Vincent Monroe.’
’Roya Monroe. That name... Mika Summers felt like she had heard it somewhere before. It was a very, very familiar name. She had a gut feeling that some earth-shattering secret was hidden here.’
She reached out and snatched everything from Tristan Grayson’s hands. Tristan Grayson snapped back to his senses. He watched in alarm as Mika Summers turned around and frantically looked through the documents. With a pained expression and a touch of anxiety in his voice, he said, "Mika, this can’t be real. Don’t believe it."
"Maggie Monroe and Jason Lockwood are biological siblings?" She was being strong, so strong that she didn’t cry. Instead, she lifted her head, looked coldly at Tristan Grayson, and demanded harshly.
Tristan Grayson grabbed Mika Summers’s arm in a panic, shaking his head. "Impossible. This is absolutely impossible. How could Jason Lockwood and Maggie Monroe possibly be siblings?"
"Tristan Grayson, tell me, did you already know? Did all of you already know? You all knew and just kept it from me, didn’t you?"
After speaking, Mika Summers thrust the documents into Tristan Grayson’s chest. She lowered her head, about to tear open the letter. Seeing this, Tristan Grayson threw the documents on the floor and hurriedly tried to stop her. "Don’t read it. Let’s not read it. Whatever it is, we’re not looking at it anymore. Honey, things are so good between us right now. Why let something so unimportant affect our lives?"
"Get away! Don’t touch me!" Mika Summers angrily slapped Tristan Grayson’s hand away and quickly tore open the envelope. The hand holding it was trembling slightly.
And the contents of the letter made Mika Summers’s heart wrench violently.
’Mika Summers, by the time you read this letter, you should understand why Tristan Grayson wanted to be with you. Did you really think Tristan Grayson liked you? Mika, stop being so foolish. Look closely. Take a good, hard look. Look at the woman in Tristan Grayson’s arms, and see who she really looks like.
As your best friend, I sincerely hope you won’t be deceived by certain people’s appearances any longer. You need to see the man in front of you for who he really is.
What was his real reason for marrying you?
Out of all the people in the world, why did he choose only you?
Mika Summers, stop being so blind. It’s time to wake up.’
So many words in that letter, and every single one stabbed mercilessly into Mika Summers’s heart.
’What was his real reason? She had never once thought about it. What was his real reason?’
The pain from the past once again came rushing back, mercilessly attacking her...
The pain in Mika Summers’s heart was so intense that she bent over slightly, clutching her chest. Her face had also turned deathly pale.
Seeing Mika Summers like this, Tristan Grayson’s own face went deathly pale with fear. He pulled her into a tight embrace and said urgently, "Honey, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me. Honey, whoever they are, it has nothing to do with us! Nothing at all! Your friend clearly has bad intentions. She’s deliberately trying to destroy our marriage. Honey, you can’t fall for it."
"Tristan, let me go." Mika Summers didn’t struggle or cry. She just spoke that single sentence in a faint voice.
"I won’t. I won’t let go. Honey, we’ve been through so much to get to where we are today. You can’t just leave me because of a few words from someone else."
"I’ll say it one last time. Let go of me!" Mika Summers’s emotions flared in that moment, her voice much louder than before.
Tristan Grayson shuddered, startled. His face darkened as he released Mika Summers. He said anxiously, "Okay, honey, I’ll let go. Please don’t be angry with me."
Mika Summers said nothing, simply walking around Tristan Grayson and heading for the door.
Seeing this, Tristan Grayson reached out and grabbed her arm again. "Where are you going?"
"I’m tired. I want to go rest for a while." As she spoke, the coldness in her voice was gone, replaced by a hint of weariness.
Tristan Grayson hesitated for a few seconds before letting go of Mika Summers. His face was no longer panicked; instead, it was serious and solemn. "Honey, go get some rest. No matter what happened, it’s all in the past. Now, I’m yours, and you’re mine. Our family of three needs to stay together and live our lives."
"—" Mika Summers seemed to freeze in place. She didn’t speak, nor did she immediately walk away.
Her silence and stillness made Tristan feel more and more uncertain.
Kiki had been sitting on the floor, watching his parents argue the whole time. Seeing his mother silent now, he scrambled up from the floor in fear, walked over to Mika Summers, and tugged on her other hand. With red eyes, he said in a choked voice, "Mommy, I don’t want any of these presents. Please don’t leave me and Daddy, okay?"
Her heart, which had grown numb with pain, began to throb again upon hearing Kiki’s words. Tears streamed down her face. She squatted down, pulled Kiki into a tight hug, and nodded, coaxing him, "It’s okay, Kiki. Mommy isn’t going to leave you and Daddy. Mommy’s just tired and wants to rest for a while."
