Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 605 - 603: The Light BulbChapter 605: Chapter 603: The Light Bulb
After that night, life for Mika Summers and Tristan Grayson had settled back into a peaceful rhythm.
Tristan had also told her about Jasmine.
She never imagined that Jasmine and Jason Lockwood were lovers.
Somehow, she could understand why Jasmine had done what she did...
In just over half a month, LK Group had secured six major contracts under Tristan’s leadership, and its performance was soaring.
At this rate, it seemed LK would once again become the dominant force in Tridell in less than half a year.
She leaned against Tristan Grayson and yawned, her face a mask of exhaustion. "I don’t know what’s going on lately," she said. "Every day, by the time work is over, I’m so tired I feel like I’m about to collapse."
Hearing her words, Tristan’s heart ached. He pulled her closer into his embrace. "Our companies are part of the same group, anyway. How about I have Ian Shaw take over your duties, and you can just stay home and rest for a while?"
"But what about your side of things?"
"I’m a man. It’s my responsibility to provide for the family, so you don’t have to worry about me. My side of things will be fine without Ian Shaw. If it gets too busy, I can always consider hiring a few more executives."
"No, let’s not do that." A vice president’s annual salary is at least half a million, and that’s not even counting profit sharing. Besides, "Even though our companies are under the same group, I still want us to manage our own divisions. Silas may have handed the company over to me, but I can’t forget his kindness. At the end of the year, I’m going to transfer sixty percent of the company’s profits to Silas’s account."
"Okay. We’ll do it your way." Hearing Silas’s name made Tristan uncomfortable, but he wasn’t petty about it. Instead, he simply raised a hand, gently ruffled Mika’s hair, and nodded.
Even though Tristan didn’t show any displeasure, Mika still sensed a fleeting change in his mood. She looked up at him and explained, "Don’t get the wrong idea. The only reason Silas started the film company was for me. Back then, I wanted to get revenge on you, so he decided to get into the film industry to try and take over your company. After we came back, on the very first day, he transferred the company ownership to me. It’s just that at the time, he still held half of the shares."
Her explanation made Tristan think back to when Mika had first returned to the country. A pang of pain went through his heart. He bent down, kissed her lips, and said with a gentle smile, "Silly girl, you don’t have to explain anything to me. Do whatever you want. If you need it, I don’t even mind giving half of LK’s profits to Silas Kent."
"That won’t be necessary. LK belongs to my husband. If we’re giving anything away, it should be to our son. Our son is going to be the richest man in the world someday."
"Yes, our son will definitely be the richest man in the world!" ’Sometimes, when you don’t have authority, all you can have is money.’
The couple was on the sofa discussing the lives of the wealthy when suddenly, the color drained from Mika’s face. A sharp cramp seized her abdomen, and her stomach lurched violently. She pushed Tristan away and bolted for the bathroom.
Tristan was too stunned to react at first. It was only after he saw Mika slam the bathroom door shut that he shot to his feet, worried, and hurried after her.
He opened the door to find Mika hunched over the sink, throwing up.
Seeing this, Tristan rushed over to her side. He began to gently rub her back, asking anxiously, "What’s wrong? Why are you throwing up all of a sudden?"
Mika rinsed her mouth and took a few ragged breaths. "I think it’s because I ate my lunch cold today," she said, "so my stomach is upset." ’She remembered being so busy at noon that she’d forgotten to eat the meal her assistant brought her. By the time she felt hungry, the food was already cold.’
"You silly goose. You’re a grown woman, and you still don’t know how to take care of yourself." Tristan was a mix of worried and angry. ’A grown woman, eating cold food.’
"Okay, okay, don’t be mad. I feel awful right now. My stomach hurts, I feel sick, and my whole body is sore and weak." ’She really had to admit she wasn’t as young as she used to be. Right now, it felt like every part of her body was protesting.’
"How about we go to the hospital and get you checked out? Don’t go to the office tomorrow. We’ll have Ian Shaw take over your duties for a while. Once I’ve sorted things out at my company, we’ll go on our honeymoon. We’ve been married for over a month now, and we haven’t had a single day to just relax."
"But I..."
The moment she said "but," Tristan knew she was about to refuse. He quickly cut in, "Don’t even think about turning me down. Darling, think about it. Life is short, and who knows what the next one holds? We have to cherish the present while we’re still young. We can’t wait until we’re old and then be filled with regrets."
She had to admit, Tristan’s words struck a chord. She leaned weakly into his arms. "Okay, then. We’ll do it your way. The three of us can go have some fun for a few days. Now that I think about it, I feel like I’ve been neglecting Kiki. It’ll be good to have some time to spend with him." Speaking of Kiki made her miss him terribly. She looked up and said with a smile, "Let’s go home and get him now. I’m not going to the office tomorrow anyway."
"Mom and Dad are watching him, so you can relax. Besides, I don’t want that little rascal interrupting us." ’Back when Kiki and Mika were still getting to know each other, he wasn’t very clingy. Now, the little brat was the biggest third wheel imaginable.’
’Every night, he even fights me for my wife’s hugs! So why on earth would I go and pick up our resident third wheel to get in the way?’
’He had already decided on the honeymoon, too. Kiki wasn’t coming! He would let his parents take Kiki out to have some fun.’
With that thought, Tristan, ever a man of action, waited until Mika was asleep that night. Then, he quietly snuck away to book plane tickets—for that very night. He was afraid that if he waited until morning, Mika would make one phone call, and their little third wheel would be right back.
The next day, Mika was woken up by the delicious aroma of food.
She had been up vomiting several times in the middle of the night and was now famished, so the smell of food woke her right up.
She picked up her phone from the bedside table and glanced at the time. It was already past ten.
She got out of bed, quickly washed up, and then headed downstairs.
Downstairs, she saw their housekeeper, Ms. Warren, cooking in the kitchen, while Tristan sat on the sofa, working on his laptop.
When Ms. Warren saw her come downstairs, she smiled in greeting. "Mika, you’re awake already?"
