Chapter 626: Chapter 620: Wrong is Wrong

Those memories, though tinged with pain, felt beautiful to look back on.

Sometimes, he would wonder, ’If Amelia hadn’t liked me first, hadn’t confessed to me, and if all those things that happened later had never occurred, would I have still fallen for her like I have now?’

’I probably would have,’ he thought.

It was like with Amelia and Tiana. They were both like little sisters to him, but he just preferred Amelia, and instinctively knew to take extra special care of her.

And all of Amelia’s bossiness and pouting, in his eyes, seemed perfectly natural.

He would spoil her, completely and willingly...

Cassian Jennings recalled scene after scene from the past, the look in his eyes growing ever more tender, and his tone softened unconsciously.

He didn’t know how much he had told Leo Joyce. He had never even told his best friend these things, but now, he was spilling everything to a former love rival.

Leo Joyce had no intention of interrupting him and just listened as he talked about his time with Amelia when they were children.

After some time, Cassian Jennings’s voice trailed off. A long moment passed before he spoke again, his voice cool and distant. "I know you came here looking for Amelia to hide from Tiana."

At his words, Leo Joyce opened his eyes, his brow furrowing slightly.

"Leo Joyce, Tiana and Amelia are different. When Amelia likes someone, she’ll say it and boldly pursue them. But Tiana won’t." Cassian Jennings’s tone held a hint of resignation. ’But only I know how much bitterness and heartache is behind that,’ he thought. ’It was I who completely blocked Amelia’s path.’

Leo Joyce seemed to recall something. A strange emptiness bloomed in his chest, and his hands clenched into fists unconsciously.

"Actually, you don’t need to worry about Tiana clinging to you. If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been here for quite a while, and she hasn’t called you once. Leo Joyce, have you ever wondered why?"

Leo Joyce’s heart suddenly clenched. He shot up from the floor and barked at Cassian Jennings, "What do you know?"

"I don’t know anything. But I understand Tiana better than you do. If you’ve really decided to break up with her, you should make it clear. It’s not in her nature to cling to you. If you want to stay with her, then contact her as soon as possible. Whatever you decide, she deserves some closure."

Leo Joyce had originally planned to book a flight for the next day, but suddenly, he couldn’t wait another moment.

After hearing what Cassian Jennings said, his heart was in turmoil.

He just couldn’t shake the feeling that Cassian Jennings knew something.

He stood up, pulled out his phone, and called Tiana Grayson. But a cold, automated female voice on the other end informed him that her phone was off.

In the private room, the man on the floor was asleep, while the man on the sofa relentlessly tried to make a call.

He booked the earliest flight for the next morning. His departure was still seven or eight hours away, but to Leo Joyce, it felt like a century.

Exhausted, he lay down on the sofa and eventually drifted off. In his dream, he saw Tiana, and she was really saying goodbye to him.

She raised a hand to wipe away her tears, forcing a smile as she said, "It’s okay. Even if we break up, we can still be friends, can’t we?"

He was so shocked by the word "breakup" that he was left speechless.

’Who said anything about breaking up?’

’Who told you we were breaking up?!’

But he couldn’t get any of the words out. It was as if a hand were wrapped tightly around his throat...

Panicked and helpless, he shot his eyes open and rolled right off the sofa.

He hit the floor, and shards of broken glass dug into his calf. The sharp pain snapped him to his senses, making him realize it had all just been a nightmare.

He shook his head and pushed himself up from the floor.

He paid the injury on his leg no mind. His eyes scanned the room, finally settling on Cassian Jennings, who was still lying on the floor.

His brow furrowed. He pulled out his phone, checked the time, then opened his contacts, found Amelia Avery’s number, and dialed.

Amelia Avery was already fast asleep, so when she answered the phone, her voice was groggy. "What is it?"

Leo Joyce glanced down impassively at the gash on his leg. "Cassian Jennings got beat up," he said.
