Chapter 688: Chapter 680: An Apology Meal

Tiana froze, her eyes red-rimmed. She slammed a hand on the table and shot to her feet.

When Leo saw Tiana get up, a flicker of regret crossed his eyes. He opened his mouth, about to explain, but Tiana didn’t give him the chance. Instead, she turned to Archie Lockwood and said hurriedly, "Mr. Lockwood, I’ll treat you to dinner some other time to make it up to you. I have something to do tonight, so I’ll be going." With that, Tiana turned and jogged off without looking back.

Leo’s grip on his glass tightened, his eyes fixed on the empty seat beside him.

"Leo, you’ve gone too far! How could you treat that lovely lady so badly? Dad, I can’t eat anymore. I’ve completely lost my appetite." As a fellow woman, Shirley Lockwood was incensed on Tiana’s behalf.

"Hmph. Let’s go. Someone’s acting crazy, throwing a tantrum. Serves him right if he never finds a wife." Archie Lockwood had originally thought the two of them just had a small disagreement. After all, Leo had told him why they’d broken up. But looking at them now, this was far from a small disagreement. They were acting more like mortal enemies.

They were obviously in love, yet they insisted on attacking each other, neither willing to back down.

Shirley suddenly had a thought, tossing her chopsticks onto the table in a panic. "Dad, it’s late... you don’t think something bad will happen to that lovely lady, do you?"

Archie rubbed his chin. After a few seconds of serious consideration, he nodded gravely. "Who knows? There’s no guarantee some thugs aren’t lurking around here."

"What? Dad, then what are we waiting for? Let’s go! We can’t let her get hurt by some creeps!"

However, the words had barely left Shirley’s lips when Leo shot to his feet, turned, and bolted outside.

Watching Leo rush out in a hurry, Shirley furrowed her delicate brows, tilting her head in confusion. "Dad, where’s Leo going?"

Archie smiled knowingly and ruffled Rory’s hair. "Heh heh, let’s keep eating."

"Oh. But what about that lovely lady...?"

"She’ll be fine. Your Leo wouldn’t bear to let anything happen to her. Now, eat up. We’ll head home after dinner."

Outside the restaurant, Leo scanned the area. His gaze finally settled on a figure across the street—a woman, squatting under a tree. She looked so helpless, so pitiful.

’He didn’t know how he could have said such horrible things to her back at the restaurant. Whenever he got angry, he just lost control.’

Leo crossed the street and went to Tiana’s side. "Tiana..."

"Tiana..."

"Tiana, talk to me, please..."

Tiana suddenly curled her lip in a cold, disdainful sneer. "Hah? Talk? Mr. Joyce, are we close? Or do we have some kind of relationship? Since we aren’t close and have no relationship, then please, Mr. Joyce, remember to stay far away from me, so I don’t cause you any embarrassment."

"Tiana Grayson, must you speak to me with that tone?"

Tiana laughed twice as if she’d just heard the funniest joke in the world, her composure completely gone. "What kind of tone?"

"That sarcastic, passive-aggressive tone."

"Isn’t it perfectly normal to use that kind of tone with an ex?"

"Tiana Grayson, what the hell is wrong with you? I already said I was wrong! What on earth do you want me to do? What will it take to make you happy, to satisfy you, to finally forgive me?"
