Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 101 - 100: What Just Flew By?Hu Qiumu froze for a moment, then gave a gentle smile and said, "The honor is mine."
But both knew it was just a lighthearted remark, so they didn’t give it another thought.
They arrived at the main hall in the midst of their conversation. Although Feng Qiwu and Yu He seemed somewhat unreliable, they had handled matters much faster than Chu Liangyu had expected.
Everyone who was supposed to be inside had already arrived. As the door was pushed open, all eyes turned toward it.
They all looked with some curiosity at the fox in her arms, but no one was tactless enough to ask.
With a composed expression, Chu Liangyu sat in her seat at the head of the hall and asked, "Has the female been brought in?"
"Greetings, Chief. I’m the one."
A female with a haggard, sallow face emerged from a corner. Although she was the one who had spoken, her gaze was unfocused, and her eyes were lifeless.
Chu Liangyu frowned, her tone softening slightly. "I didn’t bring you here today to condemn you. You don’t have to be afraid."
"I just want to ask you why you killed your Beast Husbands."
Hearing that she wouldn’t be condemned, a spark of hope for survival returned to the female, and some life came back into her eyes.
However, she remained silent for a long time after Chu Liangyu finished her question, causing the atmosphere in the hall to grow tense.
"Hey, female! Didn’t you hear the Chief’s question?" Elder Jin’s old face was a mess of wrinkles as he half-rose from his seat. "Can’t get a single word out of you. This is maddening!"
"We have time. We can wait. There’s no need to rush, Elder Jin."
’This hot-tempered elder is just as I remember,’ Chu Liangyu thought with a hint of resignation. She knew he meant no harm, so there was no blame in her tone.
All eyes returned to the female. Her lips twitched, opening and closing silently. After a long moment, she finally spoke. "My name is Cao. I was quiet because I was worried you would think I was just making an unreasonable fuss. But now I understand. If I don’t speak, the others in the tribe who share my plight will have even less desire to resist."
"I know the males are the tribe’s main workforce. Their hunting is crucial. Without them, we females might starve to death. But..."
At this, Cao’s voice choked with emotion. "But what you don’t know is how we females get by. Them hunting while we give birth to young was supposed to be a fair exchange, something we shouldn’t complain about. But that doesn’t give the males the right to take from us without any restraint!"
"They wouldn’t even leave me alone during my bleeding days. If it kept on like that, I would have died sooner or later. I hated them. I hated the greedy way they looked at me, like I was prey. So I killed them. All of them."
The disparity of few females to many males was inherently a problem. What’s more, not every male could control his desires. In these situations, the females, being the weaker party, inevitably became the victims.
Even though the Beast God had once decreed that one must not harm females, these matters between partners were ultimately not considered ’real’ harm.
Cases like this were not few, but most tribes simply ignored them. If Cao hadn’t fought back and killed her Beast Husbands, this matter would likely never have caused such a commotion in the tribe.
Leaving aside the question of whether her actions were right or wrong, the very fact that she alone had managed to kill her five Beast Husbands was somewhat strange.
Elder Xiong’s brow furrowed deeply. He couldn’t help but ask, "How could a single female have the ability to kill her Beast Husbands? Did you have an accomplice? Tell the truth."
"I had no accomplice. I just worked hard every day to master the Body Technique the Chief had us learn. And I made my move... while they were sleeping with me."
Elder Xiong sucked in a breath in disbelief and blurted out, "That’s impossible!"
The others who had remained silent exchanged glances, and soon the hall was filled with the sound of hushed arguments.
The tribespeople had originally thought the Body Technique would, at most, help the females build up some physical strength. They never imagined it would actually give them the power to kill males who attacked them.
’But why is this Body Technique only taught to females and their young? This Chief is clearly playing favorites, deliberately holding the males in check!’
"This female killed so many males. Even if she doesn’t pay with her life, she must be punished somehow. Let’s throw her in the dungeons and give her fifty lashes."
They began discussing it amongst themselves, getting so caught up in it that they completely forgot Chu Liangyu’s presence and neglected to ask for her opinion.
Chu Liangyu’s Beast Husbands held a status in the tribe equivalent to that of the Great Elder, so they were naturally qualified to participate in the discussion. Yet, they had remained silent from start to finish.
This was a thorny issue of male-female relations. If they spoke out of turn, their Female Master might not show it, but she would surely be angry in private.
But given the current situation, it would be even worse if they didn’t step in to support her. A few of them opened their mouths, intending to remind the elders of Chu Liangyu’s presence.
But before they could utter a word, something flew before their eyes. It smashed through the main hall doors, and as a gust of cold wind WHOOSHED in, they finally saw what it was.
It was the elder who had just suggested punishing Cao. He was now lying on the ground outside, coughing up blood. The one who had struck him was none other than Chu Liangyu, still seated in her high chair.
As all eyes turned to her, she was just lowering her hand, once again stroking the fiery red fox in her lap. A faint smile remained on her face, as if she hadn’t done a thing.
The elders in attendance couldn’t help but gulp. One by one, they meekly returned to their seats, terrified that they would be the next to be sent flying.
’Embarrassment is one thing, but it would be a total disaster to get myself killed.’
"I said from the beginning that we are not here today to assign blame. Or were my words just wind in your ears?"
Chu Liangyu’s expression was placid, but her tone was anything but polite, carrying an icy edge.
"We wouldn’t dare! We wouldn’t dare!"
"You misunderstand, Chief! That was just that one elder’s opinion. It has nothing to do with us!"
"Right, right! It has nothing to do with us."
Chu Liangyu suddenly let out a laugh. "Oh, so that’s how it is. And here I was, thinking none of you understood what I was saying. Since that’s not the case, let’s continue."
"Cao just spoke about her Beast Husbands forcing themselves on her. I imagine there are many similar cases within the tribe. What do you all think we should do to ensure the males of the tribe no longer dare to force themselves on the females?"
Chu Liangyu watched the crowd exchange glances, but no one spoke for a long time. She knew her recent actions had intimidated them, so she spoke again. "Relax. I’m not some tyrant. Please, speak your minds."
And just as Chu Liangyu had thought, someone finally spoke up after she finished. "No system of rules can ever truly control this kind of thing. But if the females themselves are strong, then the males wouldn’t dare force them so easily."
"Yes, yes! What Elder Hu says is reasonable."
Chu Liangyu followed the sound of the voice and saw a familiar face. It was the former chieftain of the Qingqiu Fox Clan, who was now the Great Elder—and also Hu Qiumu’s Beast Father.
A smile on her face, Chu Liangyu nodded slightly toward him. "Your words have just given me an idea, Elder."
