Miriel turned toward Liam with excitement and gratitude in her eyes.
"What did you do to me?"
"I didn’t just become stronger."

Liam smiled.
"I only accelerated what you could have achieved through hard work."
"The rest depends on you."
Miriel tightened her grip on her sword and nodded firmly.
"I won’t waste this chance."
"I’ll become strong enough to make those people regret everything they did."
Liam nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. Now let’s make you even stronger."
He took out three skill crystals from his inventory.
They were among the skill crystals he had obtained after clearing the Goblin Lord’s village.
He floated over to Miriel and placed them in front of her.

"The academy holds it every year."
"The students are divided into groups and sent into different parts of the forest to hunt monsters and gather materials."

Liam nodded.
"So you’re a student."
"Yes."
"I study at Rivermoon Royal Academy."
"The nobles usually form groups with each other."
"As for commoners like me..."
She gave a bitter smile.
"We’re mostly left alone."
Liam immediately understood what had happened.
"So those three girls used this trial as an opportunity to get rid of you."
Miriel lowered her head.

Miriel smiled for the first time since meeting Liam.
"All right."
"I’m ready."
With that, the two of them left the clearing and headed deeper into the Northern Forest in search of stronger monsters.
Liam took Miriel deeper into the Northern Forest.
He wanted to help her grow stronger, but there was another reason he had formed the contract with her.
With Miriel’s help, he could finally gain access to human settlements.
Until now, Liam had been living inside caves and surviving by hunting monsters. He had collected a large amount of loot, but selling it had always been a problem.
He could not simply enter a human city in the form of a floating eyeball.
Even if he managed to enter, he had no way to communicate properly with most humans.
Miriel solved that problem.
Through her, Liam could enter human territory, learn about the human world, and most importantly, sell the treasures and materials he had collected.
