Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 762: An Unexpected Visitor [Part 2]

Renard had grown stronger.

Thanks to the battles he had faced ever since he entered Frieden Academy, he had surpassed even his own expectations.

Alex and Charles had pushed him to the limit and helped him understand that sometimes, the path to greatness wasn’t fixed.

Instead, detours would appear along the way. And in those detours, people might appear and help at the right place at the right time.

Soon, the sound of a whiplash reverberated throughout the clearing as Renard skidded on the ground.

"Not bad," Reverse Vaan said with a smirk. "It seems that I have underestimated the Renard of this world."

Renard didn’t reply. His heightened senses told him that his opponent wasn’t fighting him seriously.

And yet, Reverse Vaan had pushed him back so effortlessly without moving from where he stood.

Renard had never underestimated his opponent. Although Reverse Vaan’s weapon looked very much like a normal whip, his instincts were telling him that he must not judge a book by its cover.

If anything, the most annoying part of Vaan’s weapon was that the whip could extend to any length its owner desired.

Even if Renard distanced himself, the whip followed him like a living snake, ready to sink its fangs into his body!

While the two were fighting, Vaan quietly observed Reverse Vaan.

His main weapon had always been a spear, and he hadn’t used a whip before.

But when he saw how flawlessly Reverse Vaan wielded it, he started to think that maybe he should give this weapon a chance.

As if noting his gaze, Reverse Vaan smirked.

"I’ll show you something good," Reverse Vaan said before flicking the whip.

The body of the whip, which was made from leather strips, suddenly transformed into a silver color.

From where Vaan stood, he could distinctly feel that the whip had now turned into metal.

At first, he thought it would become a sword whip, similar to Lavinia’s weapon. However, it didn’t. Instead, it remained as a whip.

For a brief moment, Vaan thought that it was a shame that the whip didn’t have blades in it that could cut flesh.

However, this thought disappeared a moment later when he saw something flash across the body of the whip.

Renard also noticed this, so he instantly withdrew his plan of grabbing the whip to pull Reverse Vaan toward him.

A crisp cracking sound spread across the clearing as Renard desperately jumped and rolled to the right to avoid the whip that had suddenly become deadlier than ever.

The scent of something burning soon began wafting in the breeze as the location where the whip had struck had become scorched.

Vaan didn’t imbue any flames on his whip.

Instead, he imbued it with lightning.

"See that?" Reverse Vaan asked in a teasing tone. "Make sure to take notes. This might be useful to you in the future."

"Yes, sir!" Vaan saluted.

Renard almost shouted back at his club member, wanting to ask him which side he was on.

Yet, he held back this urge because the whip was once again heading in his direction, giving him no time to complain about anything.

’Damn!’ Renard cursed internally until an idea came to mind.

Without hesitation, he jumped back and escaped the clearing, using the trees around him as a natural barrier against the whip.

Reverse Vaan chuckled. "Wow! This is fun. The Renard of this world uses his brain. Unfortunately, you’re up against the wrong opponent."

He then flicked his wrist, making the whip lunge to the place where Renard was hiding.

To Vaan’s surprise, the tip of the whip pierced through the tree, as well as the trees after that.

Renard grunted as he barely avoided the attack that he didn’t expect would bypass the natural defenses that he was using.

Blood trickled on the part that the whip had grazed on his shoulder.

Had he moved a second later, that whip might have already pierced his chest, leaving a hole in his body.

But Reverse Vaan wasn’t finished yet.

Out of nowhere, he moved his hand sideward in a slashing motion. With that, the whip that had extended for dozens of meters sliced through the trees like a hot knife through butter.

Renard had ducked at the right moment to avoid that lethal attack. Unfortunately, one of the trees that had been cut fell on his leg, making him cry out in pain.

"Looks like playtime is over," Reverse Vaan said in a teasing tone.

He then walked toward Renard, lightly tapping the coiled whip on the palm of his hand while looking at the fallen teenager with amusement.

But just as he was only a few meters away from Renard, Vaan appeared before him with his spear at the ready.

Dim Dim, who was on the young man’s head, was also holding two brittle vials, eyeing Reverse Vaan with a serious gaze.

"Hmm..." Reverse Vaan continued lightly tapping his palm with the whip, as if thinking how he should handle this matter.

A minute later, he unsummoned his weapon and smirked.

"I’d love to play with the three of you, but I am on borrowed time, you see," Vaan said. "I still have things to do, so I’ll see you guys some other time."

He then snapped his fingers, and soon, a black lightning bolt descended a few meters away from him.

The booming thunder followed suit, making Vaan subconsciously grit his teeth.

When the flash of light faded, a black chariot appeared, which was being pulled by two Nightmare Horses.

Blue flames covered their mane and feet, making them look incredibly deadly and intimidating.

Reverse Vaan then gave his counterpart a wave before whipping the two horses’ backs.

The Nightmare Horses neighed before it started to run, using the air as a platform to take their rider to the sky.

Reverse Vaan circled the clearing twice before flying towards the east.

"I hope I come across the others as well," Vaan muttered. "If that really happens, then this chore would be worth it."

When Vaan confirmed that his counterpart had truly left, he hurried to Renard’s side and poured a potion on the wound on his shoulder.

Renard wasn’t too frustrated about his encounter with Reverse Vaan.

In fact, he had learned a few things on how to deal with an enemy whose fighting style was very hard to predict.

"When we escape this place, you better find yourself a whip," Renard said to Vaan after he regained his composure.

"Yes," Vaan replied. "I’ll do that."

Now that he had seen the possibilities of having a whip as a weapon, Vaan decided to look for the best craftsman after they escaped the island of Hy-Brasil.

Although he was curious what Reverse Vaan was up to, there was simply no way that he and Renard could defeat him with their current strength.
