Kael couldn't stop a thought from springing up in his mind.

'Are the undead with talents unable to use them?'

Just imagining the sight of that five-meter-high horror using its Arachnid Frame made him shiver inwardly.

If it could, forget the zombie anomaly, it alone would probably be enough to wipe them out, especially considering the level difference.

Thankfully, that wasn't the case.

Looking at his friends, Kael couldn't help but feel his spirit lift. Each of them was a shocking genius, and had become so strong that Kael didn't doubt their power, despite having yet to see them in action since their breakthrough.

But now?

Kael didn't think he would lose to anyone. That was just how high the confidence his new talent instilled in him, despite not having used it to its full might.

He could tell from their expressions that they were holding back from satisfying their questions, after all, they were in the open.

But what they didn't know was that even when they returned to their resting quarters, he had no intention of telling them about his Devourer talent. Not that they would believe him in the first place.

He couldn't just say:

"Hey, the truth is that I have invisible snakes growing out of my hair!"

They would simply think him mad.

'Then I will just have to fall back on my good old reliable reply.'

Guess.

He smiled inwardly at the thought, a part of him looking forward to how they would react.

Throwing the miscellaneous thoughts to the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder.

'Do I even need to care about this annoying class of mine with my Devourer's Talent?'

Thinking of how strong he could become as long as he could devour more Talents, Kael couldn't stop himself from looking at the now-clear skies and flashing his middle fingers.

"Who are you cursing?"

His sister's voice suddenly drew his attention, prompting him to look back down.

His mind process had become so fast that despite his many thoughts, barely a second or two had passed.

However, he was inwardly happy to see his friends' expressions toward him remain unchanged.

Kael shifted his eyes to his sister's raised eyebrow, and couldn't help but flash a grin. He had never felt so happy since the apocalypse descended. The feeling of getting stronger was just that exhilarating.

"The system, of course. What else would it be, if not that bastard?"

A strange silence suddenly descended upon the area, and Kael's grin slowly wore off.

He literally saw the widening eyes of his friends as they registered his words. Then came the look of horror in their eyes as realization set in.

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?!" Rose practically shrieked from on top of the Ruinsteed. Forget about her trial, Kael had never seen his sister look so scared before.

He took note of the grave look on even Alice's usually stoic face, and he knew he had done something wrong.

He watched them hold their breath as if expecting something to happen, but after a while passed and nothing changed, his sister's voice suddenly resounded once more.

"How can you curse the system? Are you seeking death? Don't you know..." Her words cut off, her eyes shifting left and right.

'A system message, huh?' Kael surmised it probably had something to do with their trials.

He inwardly berated himself. He had lost himself there for a second. How could he forget about his experience on the roof of the school?

He looked at his friends and flashed a sorry smile.

"That was a mistake. It won't happen again."

Before the others could react, Kael looked at the skies before bowing his head and clapping his hands together.

"Bless the system!"

The others' lips couldn't help but twitch. Why was his expression not mirroring his current words and actions?

Nathan suddenly laughed. He wiped the sweat from his brow and also joined in the fun.

"Bless the system!"

Before Rose and Alice could react, the former's sister and timid Nathaniel also cried out while bowing.

"Bless the system!"

Soon after, the sound of laughter filled the area. Seeing this sight, Rose couldn't help but shake her head in exasperation. But when she felt a tug on her leg and looked down to see her best friend flashing her a small smile, she couldn't help but grin and also voice out,

"Bless the system!"

Sophia chuckled lightly before also speaking out in a quiet voice.

"Bless the system!"

The team laughed together. For all they had experienced since this wretched apocalypse descended, while their words sang the system praises, each of them cursed it from the deepest depths of their hearts, where they believed the system couldn't access.
