ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 130: HEADACHEKael laughed out loud, his voice a bit forced. He subconsciously avoided Alice's gaze and rubbed the back of his head while thinking of an excuse to come up with.
He just couldn't say he was simply admiring her workout. After all, he had been staring for a while now. If he hadn't been caught, it might not be an issue, but alas...
Luckily, Alice's eyes lingered on him for only a while before she walked toward her swords, while summoning a bottle of water and a hand towel.
Kael breathed a sigh of relief and quickly shifted his eyes to his status screen.
[Familiar Revival: 00:00:59]
(00:00:58... counting down)
A flicker of excitement flashed within his eyes, and he couldn't help but rub Seris' head while transmitting in his mind.
'There is someone I want you three to meet.'
The little snake looked at him with wonder, and a bit of curiosity. Still, she rubbed her head against his cheek once to show she understood.
Kael smiled, but what he didn't notice was the other pair of narrowed eyes hidden within his hair.
Immediately the countdown reached zero, Kael felt something change in his crimson earring. He quickly willed for his familiar to appear, and with a quiet whooshing sound, the earring that hadn't budged no matter his intentions for a week suddenly turned into a crimson streak of light that flashed before him.
A burst of crimson flames spread out, and from within their depths erupted a piercing yet beautiful bird cry.
- Chirp!
Py appeared before Kael, her wings spread wide behind her. Her ruby eyes instantly locked onto him, and the yearning within them couldn't have been any clearer.
"Haha..." Kael spread his hands out to receive the rushing bird. "I have missed you too, little partner!"
- Swish!
A white-and-grey blur streaked past Kael's face so fast he couldn't react. Massive gaping jaws suddenly appeared before the charging Py, and before the little bird's eyes could even widen in shock, it snapped shut around her, crushing her figure and dissipating her into a burst of crimson flames.
Kael froze on the spot.
He watched as the massive head shrank back down before Jinx returned to his side.
Kael didn't even realize that his Ouroboros Avatars had interacted with someone else aside from him like the system had said.
Instead, he felt a wave of anger rush through his veins, and his blue eyes blazed as he glared at the little snake, who glared right back at him without the slightest hint of backing down.
He had been feeling a bit guilty that he might have been too hard on the little snake. After all, she had refused to leave his wild hair and had remained quiet all this while. Yet never would he have expected her to suddenly act out like this.
Sophia, who had stood and was about to rush forward with an excited, almost childish smile she hadn't shown since her trial, also remained rooted to the spot, looking at Kael in stupefaction.
To her, who couldn't even sense the little snakes, she couldn't begin to process what had happened, especially as she watched Kael's reaction.
"Are you out of your fucking mind?!" Kael cursed out, his voice shaking with anger.
Jinx's eyes widened as if she couldn't believe he had really cursed her, and for that useless, weak creature no less.
- HISS!
She suddenly hissed at Kael, her eyes glowing with rage.
But before any one of them could take any action, the flames that had dissipated suddenly gathered back together, condensing once more, before Py appeared once again, a shocked cry leaving her small beak.
- Chirp!
Kael was shocked to see the little familiar reappear, but became elated to see she was alright. What he didn't know, but would find out later, was that against purely physical attacks, his familiar was almost impossible to destroy. Only attacks that carried energy-based damage could begin to harm the little phoenix.
A flicker of surprise flashed through Jinx's slitted pupils before the anger she had directed at Kael returned, this time with even greater intensity.
She suddenly rushed out once again, her frame exploding in size. But Kael and Py were prepared this time.
The latter quickly flapped her wings, retreating backward in a crimson streak, while Kael's right hand flashed out, his Mythical skill activating instantly, with his Energi rushing through his body, enhancing his Agility greatly.
Before Jinx could react, his palm wrapped around her rapidly enlarging head, cutting the transformation short, and eliciting a sharp hiss from her.
"Where do you think you are going?" Kael growled out in anger. His perception wrapped around the little snake, and his Will denied every form of struggle the latter tried to raise. Rather than alleviating the situation, the little snake only grew more defiant.
"Celeste, are you okay?" Sophia quickly clutched the frightened bird to her embrace. She rubbed her soft feathers and asked when she noticed how her little frame kept trembling.
Py didn't answer and instead sneaked a glance in Kael's direction with confused and frightened eyes.
Kael was so focused on berating Jinx that he hadn't noticed Seris, who had been rubbing against him, had long gone still. The usually gentle white-and-black snake had her head raised while gazing at Py, and if Kael were to see the shocking menace glowing within her golden eyes, he would have been rendered speechless.
"Sophy, take Py away!" Kael quickly spoke out when he saw Jinx wasn't relenting. He was starting to feel a headache come on. By now, his anger had already cooled, yet no matter how he tried to control the little snake, she only became more riled up. He could already read the message in her eyes, and it was as clear as day.
No sharing!
And it seemed it wasn't up for discussion.
Sophia didn't even hesitate. With a big smile on her face, she quickly moved toward the entrance while replying,
"Okay!"
"Don't go too far, if not she would be summoned back," Kael warned just in time before she left the room. At the last second, he caught Py's gaze, and he couldn't help but flash a rueful smile while transmitting in his mind.
'Sorry... give me some time to fix this.'
Alice, who had been drinking, let the water pour limply from the bottle. She watched the series of strange events taking place before her, and even now, Kael had his hands raised as if he were tightly holding something back. He kept yanking left and right while speaking to himself.
The katana, which had also remained strangely quiet till now, suddenly trembled, and Alice received her message.
Told you he wasn't normal. I knew he was weird... but this? This is a whole new category of strange.
