Kael's eyes widened slightly. Colors exploded around him, despite it being night time. His perception spread out, covering a distance of over forty meters. He could make out the shocked looks on the faces of those behind him, and he watched in slow motion as the next undead was already hurtling towards him.

'So, this is how powerful I am when I don't need to manage my Energi?'

The power running through his veins at the moment was almost intoxicating. Still, he pulled through the sensation and focused on the approaching monsters.

There were two paths before him.

He could either try to level himself up first before helping the others, or he could help the others grow first, and then focus on himself.

Kael chose the second.

His reasoning was simple.

He was already powerful as is. Sure, becoming more powerful would grant him the ability to respond to any sudden problem. But that would become meaningless if he could not protect them all. After all, two pairs of hands are better than one.

That ironically meant he had to manage his Energi again, at least for a short time.

The next undead jumped at him, its body covering several meters in one bound. Kael could see the dark veins crawling across its decayed flesh, a nauseous smell invading his senses. He frowned slightly and added another five points of Energi into his vitality, instantly raising it by ten points.

He planted his left foot firmly on the ground, his toes digging into the sand like claws anchoring into flesh. Then he smashed his knee upward.

The scene looked as if the zombie had willingly rammed its head into Kael's knee, the sickening sound of a twisting spine echoing into the surroundings.

Kael smoothly shoved the gurgling undead to his side as he moved forward to approach four more undead.

Three fireballs streaked past him before exploding within their ranks.

- BOOM!

- BOOM!

- BOOM!

The explosion lit up Kael's cold face as he quickly arrived before one of the fallen creatures. He shoved one Energi point each into his strength, agility, and mind to reset the countdown.

The creature before him was a level 24, and it seemed to be stronger than the rest. It had instinctively shifted away from the range of the explosion, so it still remained undamaged. The undead, despite its massive frame, had a more slender build, with thick black fingernails jutting out several inches from its hands. They glistened ominously within the pale moonlight.

- GRR!

The undead slashed its left claw at him, black spittle escaping its disgusting lips.

Kael deftly ducked beneath it, the whistling sound of wind parting above him, before he fluidly threw a hook to the zombie's side.

Even without activating any skill, his strength, which sat around forty points, sent the monster stumbling back, a web of cracks spreading on its bony armor at the point of impact.

Kael closed the distance once again and fell into a rhythm, his movements smooth and his body's control immaculate. With how high his perception currently was, the undead's movements slowed within his vision. He decisively added another five units into his agility, allowing his body to fully keep up with his perception.

'To the side.'

He sidestepped, the monster's outstretched mouth snapping shut without purchase.

A left uppercut connected to the lower jaw of the monster.

- BAM!

The monster's head was smashed into the air, but it had barely moved a few inches when a right hook smashed into the side of its head.

Black ichor and spittle flew out of the undead's mouth, its decayed flesh rippling like a wave as the immense force sent its head smashing into the wall. Kael was just about to move to incapacitate the monster, as the other three were already rising to their feet, when a body suddenly flashed past him, causing his brows to furrow.

Alice moved past him at great speed, a faint blue glow seeping out of her body like mist. Mana gathered around her form, thick and tangible, swirling like a living tide before snapping into shape.

Layer by layer, a construct formed.

Kael's eyes slowly widened at the sight. First came the chest plate, smooth, curved, and flawless, as if forged from condensed light. Then the pauldrons followed, broad and slightly jagged at the edges, giving off a quiet, imposing weight. Arm guards slid into place, hugging her limbs perfectly, while greaves wrapped around her legs with a soft, resonant hum.

The helmet formed last.

Fragments of blue light converged around her head, snapping into a sleek helm, its visor dimly glowing, hiding her expression beneath a cold, radiant sheen.

She arrived before a level 21 undead, the monster smashing a limb towards her. She raised her shield, the construct no longer simple, its surface gaining faint, flowing patterns that pulsed like veins of mana.

The undead's claws collided with the thick shield, shattering the construct into blue particles. But the object had done its job. Unlike before, Alice suffered no harm, her already spinning body taking advantage of the force from the collision as her slender frame twisted in the air, her heel connecting with the head of the undead in a spinning back kick.

- BAM!

The creature reeled back, black liquid jetting out of its mouth. It released a growl, its crimson eyes shining menacingly. But before it could even react, Alice's sword slashed into its torso, cutting into its bony armor and parting its decayed flesh, like knife through tofu.

Blood splattered into the air.

- ROAR!

The undead swiped its other claw, but Alice dove beneath it, a deep blue short blade appearing in her now free left hand. Holding it in a reverse grip, she slashed it into the zombie's leg, drawing another line of blood---and another growl.

Kael's high perception watched how she danced around the creature, never facing it in a frontal clash. Her two weapons turned into blue streaks of light as she wove around attacks, black blood coating her radiant armor as she continued her deadly dance.

With a leg sweep that caught the creature off guard, sending it sprawling to the ground, Alice drove her two blades---one, through its shoulder blade, and the other into its chest--- as the monster trembled on the ground.

Then she grabbed the creature's limb and pulled it toward the group, the black corrupted blood splattered across her armor, giving her a ferocious look.

Kael watched the green text glowing brightly above her head.

[LV. 11 ??? (EPIC)]

Without even as much as a glance at Kael, who had long finished with the undead beside him, Alice walked to Claire before handing her blade to her.

A thought sprang up within Kael's mind.

'She is scary.'
