"We need to go, Sophy. Don't forget we need to go assist Ms. Claire with helping the principal," Rose suddenly spoke up, pulling the others out of their thoughts.

Sophia's eyes widened slightly in realization, before she pecked Py on the side of her head and handed her to Kael.

"See you later, Celeste."

Kael raised a brow at the little girl's actions.

"Where are you two going?"

Rose suddenly looked at her brother with a rare look of seriousness. Seeing this sight, Kael's brows furrowed slightly.

"What's going on, Rosy?"

"Things have changed, big brother, since you were asleep. I think it will be better for you to see it yourself."

"Hmm..." He already had some thoughts on what might be going on, but honestly, he didn't really care. Still, he asked,

"Is that why you guys have a gun on your waist?"

As if she had been waiting for that cue, Rose suddenly giggled.

"Hehe... I thought you would never ask."

She suddenly drew the gun out before pointing it at Kael, causing the latter's heart to flip in his chest.

"Hey! Wha..."

The words died down in his throat as his eyes widened into saucers. The sight of his sister performing remarkable stunts with the far from ordinary firearm shocked him senseless.

"What's going on?" Kael couldn't help but ask again.

"Sheesh, stop teasing big brother, Rose," Sophia's sweet voice suddenly rang out from the side.

"Not only can you get guns from the system shop, you can also get any skill you want, though they are very expensive. Rose and I bought the Beginner Marksmanship skill. That is why she can play with the gun like that."

Kael suddenly understood. He was yet to check the system shop function, something he would definitely do soon. Still, only now did his sister's earlier words seem to hit harder.

With such skills and weapons at their disposal, didn't that mean any surviving human had the chance to become dangerous? Just thinking about the sight of several humans, young or old, holding such weapons and possessing such experience with them sent a chill down his spine.

Even as powerful as he currently was, he didn't think he could ignore firearms.

At least not yet.

Rose, who had been lost in her showing off, suddenly pouted.

"But the guns are practically useless. They are so weak to the point of not even being able to cause any damage to those First Order monsters."

"But that is not what they are most useful for," Kael suddenly interjected.

"Bingo. Which is why you have to be cautious out there. Different factions have been formed among the survivors, and people are willing to do anything..." Looking directly into her brother's eyes, she particularly stressed those last words, "I mean, anything to survive."

A grave expression suddenly surfaced on Kael's face, but it didn't last long when he heard his sister's next words.

"Speaking of which, how many coins do you have?"

Kael's face suddenly became deadpan, his voice taking on a flat tone.

"Why do you ask?"

Rose blinked her large eyes innocently.

"Nothing. I just want to know."

Kael's eyes lingered on her for a moment. He had lived with this little minx all his life, so he knew when she was plotting something. Still, he was already used to handling it.

'Just ignore her.'

"Not fun at all." Rose pouted when she saw her brother's lack of response. Still, she thought secretly.

'Guess my dream of getting that sniper rifle will have to wait for now.'

.....

Left alone, Kael sat against the wall while gently ruffling Py's feathers in his embrace, the gentle warmth offering a silent companionship.

'Let's check my status screen first before moving to the shop.'

With a shift of his intentions, Kael summoned his status screen.

Kael couldn't help but sigh when he saw the ridiculous amount of EXP he would need to enter level 12.

'Progressing will become a chore.'

Next, his eyes couldn't help but twitch when he saw the minor improvement to his stats.

'Is this all I got with ten percent? Just how bad is my luck?'

He also realized something else.

'It seems the chances are calculated on each addition to my stats, which means it will be better to add Energi unit by unit to increase the odds.'

He filed the thought away in the back of his mind before settling on his main goal.

SKILLS: ... Godly Focus (Mythical)

A complicated look surfaced on his face when his eyes fell on this skill. Godly Focus was so overwhelmingly powerful that it alone increased his combat prowess by several folds.

Yet...

'It had almost cost me my life.'

Kael couldn't help but think that if he hadn't used Godly Focus, he might have fared even better in that last battle. It must be remembered that just one of his punches fueled by his Energi and his gauntlet skill was more than enough to seriously harm those crawlers that were yet to reach the First Order. It was just that the creatures were too slippery and smart enough to use their blink ability expertly.

In a way, the elite crawlers could be said to be a counter to Kael's close-combat fighting style.

Though, to be fair, it could also be said that Kael was their natural counter. The elite crawlers' strength was mainly focused on their mental abilities, but Kael was all but immune to them with his class.

When his thoughts arrived there, Kael remembered that particular undead that had been able to pierce through his class protection and leave him in a wretched state. He could still remember those deep roars that had come from the top of the main building.

It sounded different... more powerful.

And he didn't know how to put it.

But if he had to use one word, then only one came close.

Ancient.

'What exactly constitutes a lesser force?'

He couldn't help but grunt at the severe lack of information he had on hand.

With no way of getting answers now, he shifted his focus back to the skill.

Taking a deep breath, he decisively activated it.

If he wanted to turn this power into his strength, what better way was there than to use it?

But he never would have guessed what would happen when he activated the skill.

"Whoa!"
