Alex walked into the Artifact God’s courtyard and didn’t find her inside the house. She was already in the workshop, working on something. However, with Sunflare following Alex into the courtyard, she came out before Alex even had a chance to go find her.
As she walked out, her eyes narrowed suddenly as she recognized the man for who he was.
"Senior Sunflare?" She was a little surprised, but she still bowed in greeting. "How may I help you?"
"Hmm? You are staying here, Lady Shen?" Sunflare asked as he looked around.
"Yes. This is my abode for a while I’m here," the Artifact God said, her eyes moving to Alex, as if wondering what he was doing with the bald Celestial.
Sunflare looked toward Alex as well. "Well, go ahead," he said. "Get your task done already."
Alex was done with Sunflare at this point, so he didn’t even acknowledge the man’s words. He simply turned toward the Artifact God and gestured toward the workshop. "Let us start, senior."
The Artifact God, however, didn’t move. "I’m sorry, but I’ll have to deal with whatever has brought the senior here first. Our work can wait."
Alex stopped and turned around toward the bald man.
The Celestial gave a simple shrug. "I’m not here for anything. I am simply following the young man. Please ignore me as if I am not even here."
The Artifact God didn’t know what to say. She turned toward Alex, at least hoping to gain some sort of understanding of the situation, but Alex had none to give her at the moment.
"Okay then," she said finally. "You may stay in the house, senior. We’ll be working in the workshop."
"No," Sunflare said. "I will be going in too."
Shen Yaojia paused. "I beg your pardon, Senior Sunflare, but I do not allow anyone else in my workshop."
"Well, you need to make an exception this time," the man said. "I go wherever he goes, and that includes every room or workshop in this palace."
The Artifact God’s eyes narrowed, her voice growing more serious and a little less respectful. "I’m extremely sorry, senior, but I cannot allow that. You must understand why I have to do this. I have things that I do not wish for others to learn about."
Sunflare narrowed his eyes, genuinely confused. "What is there to hide about working on an Immortal’s artifact? Surely the Artifact God wouldn’t have a secret to hide when making something so minor."
Alex could hear the snide remark hidden within the ’god’ when the man spoke.
Shen Yaojia shook her head slightly. "I am not here to make any Immortal artifacts for him." She turned to Alex. "Is that what you’ve told him we’re doing here?"
Alex sighed. "I’ve told him nothing at all." Alex finally turned toward the man. "Senior, I’m here to learn about artifacts and how to make them. Please respect the Artifact God’s privacy in this matter and remain out here. I’ll only be inside working on artifacts."
However, that didn’t help against the obstinate Sunflare.
"I will go wherever you go. You could be in danger when making an artifact. Or you could accidentally use something to teleport out of here. I need to watch you at all times," Sunflare said.
The Artifact God crossed her arms as she looked at Alex. "I’m not going to allow anyone else in my workshop. You will have to instead stay away if anyone other than you is coming in."
Alex felt his anger rising at that moment. He turned toward Sunflare.
"Senior, please. Just let me go inside alone. This is very important to me."
Sunflare shook his head yet again. "If you’re going in, I will have to follow you."
"You don’t have to protect me from anything," Alex said in a louder voice than he intended to. "I will have senior here with me, and she won’t let me get hurt. And I won’t teleport away. I have control over Space. I could stop it if I wanted. Please, just let me go in alone. Just this one place. You can follow me anywhere else."
Sunflare raised one hairless eyebrow upon hearing all of that, and in the end, he still made the same decision.
"Unfortunately, I do not care. I will not let you out of my sight, ever," the man said. "This is not about you here. It’s about our god. The tree must remain safe."
Alex nearly screamed at the man that he was their god, but decided not to. Instead, he chose the other extreme route.
"Fine, since you’re following me for your god, let’s just get it over with," Alex said.
Sunflare raised an eyebrow. "You’re going to leave with us right away? You don’t want to wait for another 2 centuries?"
"Oh, I won’t be going anywhere at all," Alex said. "Since you care about the tree so much, I will just give it to you. Let us find a place so I can transfer it over to you right now. Then this can all be over."
Sunflare narrowed his eyes.
"It is far too risky for the tree to survive without being planted somewhere. And the Nine Yang Realm is too far away for us to travel there in any reasonable amount of time," Sunflare said. "You must keep the tree safe until it is time for it to be replanted in our world."
"Well..." Alex said with a shrug. "Unfortunately, I do not care anymore. You will take this tree off me and give me my freedom back."
The Artifact God tried to step in as she realized that the situation she barely understood was going from bad to worse.
Before she could say anything, Sunflare let out a harrumph as a powerful aura descended around them.
"Are you trying to intimidate me?" he asked.
Alex looked at the man and hardly cared enough to lie anymore.
"Yeah, sure," he answered. "I am threatening you, senior. You have two choices right now. You will either take the tree from me or stay inside this house while I go and learn."
