Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 672: Progenitor Dragon & Veythalis

All the dragons stared at the enormous figure in astonishment.

They felt their own blood tremble, as though they were standing before the very source of their bloodlines.

Both the lawful and the evil dragons faced the same situation. Their instincts screamed for them to bow toward the colorful dragon, as did their bloodline itself.

They were ultimately unable to resist.

Whether they were the weakest Rank 4 dragons, or the leaders at Rank 10 a second later, they found themselves unable to control their bodies.

They could only prostrate on the ground, raising their heads and letting out growls of surrender.

The giant dragon above them seemed to have heard their calls.

Its wings stretched as its eyes grew even more brilliant, able to charm the soul of all beings that looked at them.

Moments later, it opened its mouth and spoke.

"Let the world be born..."

Its voice was indistinguishable. It was impossible to identify its owner’s gender or age.

Yet this didn’t diminish its majesty in the slightest. If anything, it made the atmosphere even more solemn.

The words quickly spread throughout the entire world, accurately reaching the ears of every dragon.

The world indeed started to change under their command.

The original dragon world had been filled with ruins and devastation due to the ongoing war between several legendary beings.

The ground, the air, and even the sky still bore traces of the countless battles.

Although it had recovered somewhat upon merging with the Kingdom of God and its faith, the resulting world still looked desolate.

Empty.

Following the words of the colorful dragon, however, things began to change.

The devastated land recovered in an instant. Grass covered its barren surface, followed by trees, flowers, and countless other forms of vegetation.

A portion of the land transformed into several different natural environments.

Seas. Mountains. Plains.

Volcanoes. Deserts. Forests.

Within only a few moments, the world had become truly "alive".

Things did not stop there, though.

The dragon spoke once more.

"Let life be born...", a similar sentence left its mouth.

The moment these words fell, golden brilliance descended from the sky, taking a material form of blood and flesh.

Animals. Birds. Insects.

Even humans were created, their forms taking shape almost instantly.

The life, which had previously been suppressed by the ongoing war and had no chance to be born, had now been created.

Not through natural evolution spanning billions of years as it should have been, but under the words of the multicored dragon.

The dragons watching this scene unfold were shocked.

Although members of a legendary race, they had lived in a constant state of battle ever since the day they had been born.

For them, who had not lived any other type of life, this seemed like the natural state of life. Everything else was foreign.

It was only now, when they witnessed a more beautiful world and faced other living creatures—those who were not their kind—that they seemed to have reached some realization.

The stronger among them, in particular, seemed to have sensed something.

They raised their head and stared at the dragon still covering the sky, opening their mouths to speak.

"Progenitor!"

"Ancestor!"

Two calls came out of their lips.

For a split second, they seemed to glimpse the truth behind their own existence.

An invisible power erupted from the Dragon Star and descended upon them.

Information flowed into their minds.

Not only in the minds of the leaders, but of every single dragon in this world.

Dragon of Creation!

Dragon of Destruction!

Two different titles appeared in the minds of the respective factions, both describing the dragon above them.

Although the names were different, as was the power they represented, all dragons knew it was true.

Both titles referred to the same being—the progenitor and ancestor of their entire race.

Creation. Destruction.

Both were simply two of its many aspects.

The dragons quickly grasped this, causing their roars to grow even more resounding.

The recently created beings were startled by the sudden noise.

Although they couldn’t comprehend what was going on, they instinctively turned toward the same direction as the dragons and prostrated on the ground.

In the sky, the eyes of the Progenitor Dragon gleamed as they reflected this scene.

A moment later, it opened its mouth and spoke for one final time.

"From now on, the world shall be divided into two realms."

"The Mortal Plane of mortal beings and the Divine Plane of the divine."

"Any being who has reached the realm of the divine can enter the Divine Plane."

"As for this world... it shall be named... Veythalis."

As though in response to these final words, golden brilliance gathered in the sky and wove together into a giant continent.

Enormous palaces materialized in it, all accompanied by majesty and holiness that overwhelmed any other being.

Then, the continent began to grow invisible.

Before anyone could react, it had disappeared from their sight.

Yet instinctively, everyone knew it had not truly vanished.

Instead, it had ascended to a higher dimension, one they were simply not worthy of accessing.

Based on the dragon’s words, they realized it was because they had not entered the realm of the divine—whatever that meant.

But they had no time to dwell on this matter.

Together with the continent, someone else had also disappeared.

The Progenitor Dragon.

Unknowingly, its figure had also faded away, as though erased by an invisible marker.

What applied to the continent applied to it as well.

Every dragon instinctively knew that the Progenitor Dragon was still there, watching their every move from above.

Silence shrouded the newly created world—Veythalis.

For a little while, no one dared to move.

It was only several minutes later that the leaders of the two factions glanced at each other.

The hatred that had grown over several centuries was impossible to disappear in a couple of minutes.

Yet despite the hatred they held for each other, and their entire kind, they both made a surprising decision.

"Retreat!", they shouted at the same time before rushing away with their subordinates.

Soon, the world was divided into three.

One side was the lawful dragons. Another was the evil dragons.

As for the rest... it was occupied by the newly born beings.

The humans gathered together and started to develop a new civilization.

What they didn’t know, though, was that the war was far from over just yet.

The dragons merely needed to analyze what had taken place today.

The creation of the world. The birth of other creatures. The division of the world into two.

More importantly, the appearance of the Progenitor Dragon.

Before they could make sense of everything, they would not fight recklessly.

Once they reacted to this matter, however, the world would erupt into chaos once more.

This time, perhaps even more violent than ever before.
