"Wait."

The stone-skinned man blocked another strike from the armored wolf before roaring, "Old man, if you have something to say, say it quickly!"

"We have to deal with these four first." The old mage raised his staff.

The winged woman's pupil-less eyes turned toward him.

"Together?"

"For now. We may not be of one mind, but our objective is clearly similar. The specifics can be discussed later."

The old man smiled faintly. His gaze briefly swept across the angel and the phoenix.

The angel's expression remained indifferent. However, he didn't reject the suggestion. The phoenix frowned.

"And the wolves outside?"

"Leave them to me."

The old mage's answer was immediate, delivered through Wide Voice Transmission so quickly that not a second had passed.

Michael stopped retreating and decided to observe further. The closest monster, though fast, would still take roughly seven seconds to arrive. With his skills and abilities, escape was still more than feasible. He had only paused because of the old mage's transmission.

Wide Voice Transmission. It was a relatively common communication technique among high-ranking supernaturals. Unlike ordinary voice transmission, which formed a direct connection between two specific individuals, Wide Voice Transmission was indiscriminate.

Once activated, the user selected a specific range. Anyone within that range capable of receiving energy-based communication would hear it. More importantly, they could choose to tap into the temporary channel and respond. It was almost like creating a small, temporary room for conversation.

Ordinary voice transmission was different. It required a target. The sender had to locate the person they wished to contact, lock onto their presence, and then establish a connection. If Michael was hidden, an ordinary voice transmission couldn't reach him without discovering him first.

Wide Voice Transmission didn't care. It simply spread a communication channel throughout a designated area. Due to its function, it wasn't a sensory ability. This meant the old mage hadn't actually located Michael. Michael had simply been standing within the range of the technique.

Naturally, Michael had no intention of tapping into the channel and responding. Doing so would immediately announce his presence to everyone within range.

The only reason he had stopped in the first place was the confidence in the old mage's voice.

'What?'

Leave nearly one thousand Rank Four monsters to him? Michael's eyes narrowed. Was this old man secretly a necromancer too?

The thought had barely surfaced when the mage reached into his robe and threw out five metallic disks.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Four disks immediately shot in different directions. One flew east. One west. The remaining two separated toward the north and south.

They moved so quickly that Michael barely tracked them before they disappeared into the distant forest.

The fifth disk fell directly beneath the old mage.

Clink.

The moment it touched the ground, space twisted. A dark circular opening rapidly formed above the disk.

Michael's expression changed.

'A portal?'

It certainly looked like one.

"That is our escape route," the old mage said.

The stone-skinned man's battle will immediately returned.

"Hahaha! I knew bringing you was the correct choice!"

The old mage ignored him.

Meanwhile, Michael suddenly sensed something else. His head snapped upward. Far in the distance, four faint lights appeared.

The disks the old man had thrown out in different directions had stopped. Thin black lines erupted from each one, shooting into the sky before rapidly connecting.

East to north. North to west. West to south. South to east.

A gigantic square formed in the air. Michael's pupils contracted as black energy began pouring downward from its edges like curtains.

'A barrier!'

The old man had never planned to fight nearly one thousand Rank Four wolves. He was planning to seal them outside.

Michael immediately understood. And his expression immediately turned ugly.

After all, he was also inside.

'Damn.'

Michael no longer cared about watching the battle. The barrier was descending rapidly. Once it completely formed, he had no idea whether he would be able to escape using his own abilities.

He wasn't opposed to a fight, but he wanted the option to retreat if needed.

Michael hated gambling against unknown magic, especially magic created by a Level 100 mage powerful enough to conceal four peak Rank Four awakeners from his perception.

'I need to get outside the range first.'

Without hesitation, Michael moved.

Whoosh!

His concealed figure shot toward the nearest edge of the forming barrier. The sudden movement immediately disturbed the surrounding energy.

Ten heads turned almost simultaneously.

Michael felt their gazes lock onto him. His concealment collapsed. His pale figure appeared in the open.

The stone-skinned man's eyes widened. The pale-blue-skinned woman froze. The crimson-armored figure actually turned away from the wolf they had been fighting.

The old mage's calm expression disappeared for the first time.

There had been another person here the entire time?!

The silver wolf's glowing eyes narrowed. Clearly, even it hadn't detected Michael.

However, the most dramatic reactions came from two people.

Lord Seraphiel's expression changed.

The phoenix's eyes widened.

"You!"

Michael glanced toward them while still moving.

"…"

For a moment, he considered pretending not to know them. Then he smiled. A bright, friendly smile. The kind one gave an old friend they hadn't seen in years.

"Hello."

The phoenix's face darkened instantly.

"You bastard!"

Michael accelerated.

BOOOOM!

The ground beneath him shattered. The black barrier was already less than a hundred meters from touching the earth. Fifty meters. Thirty. Twenty.

Michael's body blurred.

Ten!

WHOOSH!

He passed beneath the descending barrier at the final moment.

BOOOOOOM!

Black energy struck the earth behind him. The entire Level 3 region trembled.

Michael stopped several kilometers away and slowly turned around. A gigantic black barrier now covered the ancient tower, the four Epic Grade wolves, and the six awakeners.

Outside it, hundreds of wolves were arriving. Their furious roars shook the forest.

Michael stared silently.

"…"

Then he looked at the phoenix through the dark barrier. The phoenix was also staring at him. Even from this distance, Michael could practically feel the hatred radiating from the man's eyes.

Michael raised one hand.

He waved.

The phoenix's flames exploded.

"YOU!"

Unfortunately, the barrier swallowed whatever else he shouted.

Michael's smile widened.

'What a nice reunion.'

Still, his amusement quickly faded as he considered the old mage.

That had been close. If he had hesitated for another second, he would currently be trapped inside with six Level 100 awakeners and four Epic Grade wolves.

AWOOOO!

His thoughts were interrupted. He slowly turned his head.

Nearly one thousand wolves had gathered around the black barrier. And several of them were looking directly at him.

Michael's expression stiffened.

"…"

The wolves stared. Michael stared back. A few seconds passed.

Michael smiled awkwardly.

"I'm not with them."

Growl…

Hundreds of crimson eyes gradually turned toward him.

Michael's smile disappeared.

"…You don't believe me?"

The first wolf lunged.

Michael vanished.

BOOOOM!

The ground where he had stood erupted. Far in the distance, Michael's furious voice echoed across the forest.

"SINCE YOU WANT A FIGHT, LET'S FIGHT!"

Hundreds of wolves rushed at him.

Michael spread both arms wide in midair as two thousand humanoid figures materialized behind him, casting a colossal shadow over everything below.
