Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch

The Storm Dragon soared through the heavens. Her enormous wings beat once.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The resulting wind tore through the clouds, sending them spiraling across the sky. Akari no longer needed to consciously summon the storm.

It simply obeyed her. The wind bent around her body. Lightning crawled between her sapphire scales.

Thunder rolled wherever she flew. The entire sky had become an extension of her will. Below, the abomination moved.

THUD.

It took one step. The earth sank beneath its foot.

THUD.

Then it took another. Trees snapped around it. The corrupted flesh spreading from its body decomposed everything it touched.

Then the creature began running.

BOOOOOOM!!!

Each step shook the forest like an earthquake.

Dozens of enormous tentacles dragged across the ground, crushing trees and carving trenches through the earth.

Akari looked down. Her enormous eye narrowed. She opened her jaws.

A brilliant blue light began gathering inside her throat.

CRACKLE... CRACKLE...

Lightning accumulated, she conjured more and more. Until the light inside her mouth became almost blinding.

ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAR!!!

A gigantic beam of blue lightning erupted from her jaws. It shot across the sky like a divine judgment.

KRAAAAAAAAAA-BOOOOOOM!!!

The beam struck the abomination head-on. The impact swallowed its entire upper body.

The surrounding forest disappeared beneath the blue radiance.

Trees were vaporized. The earth exploded.

A massive trench was carved across the landscape as the beam continued forward.

The ground beneath the creature melted into glowing stone before being blasted apart completely.

For a while, the entire battlefield became nothing but blue light. Then a voice emerged from within the destruction.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

The abomination’s laughter echoed through the storm.

"THAT’S IT!"

Its enormous silhouette remained inside the beam.

"SHOW ME YOUR WHOLE POWER!"

Akari’s pupils narrowed.

The beam intensified.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The explosion expanded outward. A shockwave tore through the forest for kilometers.

Yet the abomination remained standing. Its body had been blasted apart in several places. But the wounds were already closing.

Flesh crawled. Whatever bones reformed. The missing portions reconstructed themselves.

And when the beam finally disappeared. The creature was larger.

Akari’s expression hardened. It grew again. The abomination spread its arms.

Its flesh expanded outward like a living mass. Tentacles erupted from its torso.

Hundreds and then thousands. They spread across the surrounding forest, wrapping around trees and sinking into the ground.

The earth immediately began turning black. Red smoke poured from its body. The smoke climbed into the heavens, mixing with the storm clouds.

The beautiful blue sky slowly became crimson. The corruption spread faster.

Grass withered around them and trees rotted. Rocks cracked. Even the rain began evaporating whenever it touched the creature’s flesh.

Akari looked around. Her expression became colder. If this continues, the entire region will be destroyed. She spread her enormous wings.

The clouds above her began rotating. The storm became enormous. Lightning gathered across the entire horizon.

KRAK!

One bolt, then another, then hundreds. The sky became a web of blue lightning. Akari raised one claw. Every bolt suddenly converged toward a single point above her.

The energy condensed. The storm became unnaturally quiet. Then Akari brought her claw down.

FALL.

KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-BOOOOOOM!!!

The heavens exploded. A colossal pillar of lightning descended. It was so enormous that it illuminated the landscape for dozens of kilometers.

The bolt struck the abomination. The impact created an explosion that swallowed everything around it.

The ground ruptured. A crater formed beneath the creature. The shockwave flattened the forest outward in every direction.

For kilometers, trees were uprooted and thrown through the air. The force was enough to devastate an area comparable to a small city.

Noah, watching from far away had started to run away once again.

"What the hell..."

The explosion continued expanding. Blue lightning raced across the ground like rivers. The earth cracked for hundreds of meters.

Mountains in the distance trembled.

Silence spread once again.

Akari remained suspended above the devastated landscape.

Her enormous chest rose and fell. She stared downward. Smoke covered the battlefield.

Did it finally.

THUD.

Something moved.

Akari’s eye widened. A gigantic hand emerged from the crater.

Then another, the abomination slowly pulled itself upright.

Its body was horribly damaged. Large portions had been completely destroyed. Yet its flesh began rebuilding itself.

Squelch.

Crack.

Squelch.

New flesh formed. Bones twisted into place. Tentacles grew from its back. Its enormous torso expanded.

And then it became even larger than before.

Akari’s expression darkened. The creature looked upward. Its single crimson eye glowed brighter.

"MORE."

Its voice shook the air.

"MORE!!!"

Its arms spread wide.

"YOUR LIGHTNING... YOUR STORM..."

Its grin widened.

"...COULD NEVER HARM ME!"

Akari stared at it.

For the first time, she understood the horrifying nature of her opponent.

She could destroy it. But destruction alone wasn’t enough. Every time she damaged it, the creature regenerated.

Every time it regenerated, it seemed to become stronger. As if it was sucking energy from everything and becoming stronger.

And while Akari’s attacks were destroying the world around them, the abomination was consuming the destruction itself.

The crimson smoke thickened. The storm clouds began turning red.

Akari slowly lowered her head. Lightning crackled across her horns.

’Then I’ll have to find another way.’

She couldn’t feel helpless. Not after possessing strength enough to destroy cities, millions of people army in single attack.

But that power means nothing against her opponent. All her abilities, magic spells or anything looked so useless after fighting the abomination.

Using them won’t have any effect of monster. Never she had thought that after reaching pinnacle of human, after becoming dragon, she would still struggle.

The rain falling from the red sky now even have that creatures energy. It corrode even her lightly as it fell on her scales. But he defense was too strong. So they were bearable.

Her enormous wings spread. The sky darkened beneath them. She wasn’t retreating.

She wasn’t afraid. If anything, her gaze became even colder. The abomination roared.

Akari answered with a thunderous dragon’s roar of her own.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAR!!!

One was the fury of the heavens. The other was the corruption of something that should never have existed.

The ground beneath the abomination suddenly bulged. Akari’s instincts screamed.

BOOOOOOM!!!

Dozens of enormous tentacles erupted from the earth at once. They shot toward her like black-red spears, tearing through the forest as they rose.

Akari immediately accelerated.

KRAK!!!

Blue lightning exploded behind her. Her enormous body became a streak of azure light as she flew upward.

The first wave of tentacles missed. Then another wave emerged.

They followed her relentlessly, twisting through the sky as if they could sense her movements.

Akari twisted her enormous body between them. One passed beneath her wing. Another narrowly missed her head.

She accelerated again.

The battlefield below was becoming a sea of corrupted flesh. Then the abomination moved.

THUD!

Its enormous foot slammed into the ground.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The earth collapsed beneath it. The creature crouched.

Then it jumped. The force of the movement created a gigantic crater where it had stood.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The abomination launched itself into the sky like a mountain thrown by an unseen force.

Akari’s eyes widened.

’It’s faster!’

Despite being lightning dragon, her speed in dragon form was not fast, mostly because of her weight and size.

Still it was not like she couldn’t run.

But the creature rapidly closed the distance. Its enormous hand reached toward her. Then its palm opened.

Hundreds of tentacles burst from it. They spread outward like a massive net.

Akari twisted sideways. Lightning exploded from her body. A wave of blue electricity swept through the tentacles.

The majority of them burned instantly. Charred pieces of corrupted flesh rained from the sky.

But there were too many. Several tentacles slipped through the lightning. One wrapped around Akari’s left leg. Another wrapped around her ankle.

Then another coiled around her lower leg.

Akari’s eyes narrowed.

She tried to pull away.

SNNNKKK!

The tentacles tightened. Their corrupted surface began reacting with her scales.

HISSSSSSS!

A thin layer of her sapphire scales started deteriorating.

The brilliant blue surface darkened. Small pieces began crumbling away. Akari felt a sharp pain travel through her leg, it was far too painful compared to any pain she every felt.

’Yes... it’s not only decomposing but also sucking energy from everything it touches!!’

She understood it.

Her expression changed. It’s penetrating my scales. She immediately flooded her leg with lightning.

[A/N: Sorry guys for less Chapter update for last few days. Kind of busy in real life. Sigh wanted to end this arc before end of this month. Hope I can do it. Even I feel like I am dragging it so will try to stop it and move faster from next Chapter.

And I probably have to visit my village after two days. For a function at relatives. Might get busy. Anyways, I will try to write extra Chapters for those days. So prolly no worry.

Also guys what do you think about a frost scythe as main weapon for Noah? I have been thinking about this for a while now.
