Extra's Path To Demon King

Chapter 579: The Invisible Psychic Army

Axel watched the tide of abstract seekers summoned by the Duke rush toward him like a collapsing mountain. The air itself felt thick and hostile, every cubic inch of space pressing down against his body with heavy, suffocating force.

An invisible layer of suppression had settled over him, making his limbs feel leaden and his breath taste of iron. But what disturbed him even more than the physical weakness was the silence within his mind.

Prime Nexus hadn’t issued a single system alert. There was no notification warning him that he had been afflicted by a domain debuff, no numeric breakdown of his reduced stats... nothing.

It didn’t take long for him to figure out why. A domain wasn’t just a powerful spell cast over a battleground; it was a completely isolated, superimposed fragment of reality forced over the normal world.

In this pocket space, the rules of Eldarion were cut off. The Black Pillars, which acted like massive signal towers connecting users to the Prime Nexus network, couldn’t penetrate this boundary. The connection was simply out of range.

Axel ground his teeth in frustration, his jaw muscles tight.

He had known long before setting foot here that the Duke would be the most dangerous adversary he would ever face, but experiencing the full weight of an Innate Territory belonging to a 5th phase entity was something else entirely. The sheer absurdity of it defied reasonable power scaling.

An Innate Territory didn’t just enhance a Seeker’s base stats; it fundamentally altered how their abilities functioned. In Duke Allen’s case, imposing his domain elevated his Psychic Construction magic to a tier that bordered on horrifying.

It allowed him to pull the lingering spiritual records of everyone he had slaughtered throughout his life out of thin air.

These weren’t simple illusions or mindless projections.

The Duke had reconstructed those dead warriors into fully realised entities that mirrored their former living selves in every operational aspect... their combat experience, their phase-level capabilities, and their techniques were all preserved.

The only difference was that their bodies were forged entirely from invisible, compressed psychic energy.

Axel shifted his gaze to his left, keeping his voice tight and low. "Daniel, you can sense them, right? The outlines of those invisible entities charging at us?"

Daniel didn’t look at him, keeping his posture braced against the pressure of the domain. He gave a single, curt nod.

Axel continued, his mind working rapidly through the tactical variables. "Even for a 5th phase seeker, maintaining a full Innate Territory takes a severe toll on the mind. On top of that, manifesting a high-level construction technique of this scale isn’t something he can sustain effortlessly. It puts immense strain on his cognitive faculties."

He paused, adjusting his stance as the ground beneath them vibrated from the advancing mass. "The Duke might be putting up a grand display, but he isn’t as untouchable as he wants us to think."

Daniel’s face was twisted in a furious scowl, his eyes locked on the hovering figure of the Duke in the distant sky. He spat onto the ground, his voice laced with venom. "Cut the crap and just tell me what I have to do?"

Axel’s demonic pupils flashed, the golden runic patterns over his dark irises shifting in a tight sequence. "Keep the Duke busy. I know your Rune Armour has more output than what you’ve shown so far. Don’t hold anything back."

He took a deep breath, letting the cold air settle his surging adrenaline as he laid out the plan. "I’ll deal with the army."

Daniel glanced toward Axel for a brief moment, taking in the Demon’s monstrous appearance, before snapping his head back toward the enemy. Without a word of objection, he detonated the rune circuits in his armour.

A blinding beam of white light erupted from his feet, smashing a crater into the earth as he launched straight into the upper sky to engage Duke Allen once again.

Axel watched him go, a tight knot of concern tightening in his chest. Leaving his father alone to face Allen inside the Duke’s own domain was a massive gamble.

He didn’t know how many hidden techniques or fatal traps the Duke had stored in his arsenal, and sending Daniel up there was taking a terrifying risk.

Yet, logic offered no alternative.

If both of them stayed on the ground to push through the Abstract Entities together, they would be encircled and overwhelmed by sheer numbers and relentless psychic artillery.

If Axel flew up to fight the Duke while leaving Daniel below, Daniel wouldn’t last more than a minute against the invisible horde. His armour was durable, but without specialised detection and wide-area suppression, he would be picked apart by the unseen 4th- and 5th-phase entities.

The only workable strategy was for Daniel to draw Allen’s direct focus, buying Axel enough time to break through this tide and figure out a way to destabilise the domain from within.

Axel focused his attention forward. The dual layers of his eyes... the mutated Demonic Pupils and the Runic Eyes overlaid on top of them—flashed with a cold light. He began breaking down the incoming wave, analysing energy density, spatial signatures, and force distribution.

His mind quickly catalogued the composition of the force.

Three hundred 3rd phase seekers. Forty 4th phase seekers. And standing at the front, acting as the vanguard, was a massive initial 5th phase seeker. Every single one of them had fallen to Duke Allen’s blade over the decades, their spirits repurposed into silent soldiers.

Unlike a normal army, these constructs showed no concern for self-preservation or tactical rotation. They didn’t send weaker troops first to test defences, nor did they maintain defensive lines. They moved as a single, coordinated wave, driven by a unified psychic directive to crush everything in their path.

Axel recognised the mindless nature of their march and adjusted his approach immediately. He stowed the pitch-black Relic Sword on his back, unslung a heavy barrel of arrows, and drew out a massive composite bow decorated with intricate golden runic engravings.

The moment he channelled his demonic energy into the weapon, the golden runes didn’t just light up... they corrupted.

The bright gold was swept away by a wave of ink-black essence, the despair-attributed mana coating the limbs of the bow until the entire frame looked like twisted, scorched iron.
