Extra's Path To Demon King

Chapter 594: This is the story that you started [4]

Livia could only pray that the Nomrad Patriarch would keep his word and spare her son, despite the trauma he would have to carry for the rest of his life. She was trapped in an agonising reality where she had no choice but to beg for a sliver of mercy from her worst enemy, the very man she had once wronged so horribly.

Livia looked away from Ken and closed her eyes, attempting to pull the trigger on her own life by forcing her soul sanctum to detonate. Seconds ticked by in complete silence, but nothing happened.

The Duchess frowned in confusion, only for Daniel’s heavy attack to strike her torso once again. She screamed in agony, gasping for breath as dark blood welled up and spilt past her lips.

Her eyes snapped open with horrifying realisation as she discovered she could not detonate her soul. It was as though an invisible lock had been placed upon her sanctum, barring her completely from choosing her own death.

Her trembling gaze shifted toward the Demon, who was already grinning so widely that his human face looked deeply inhumane and distorted. Horror flooded her mind as she realised his absolute control over her fate.

"NO! DANIEL, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!" she screamed, her voice cracking in pure desperation. "DON’T KILL ME, PLEASE, JUST NOT IN FRONT OF MY SON! HE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO LIVE AFTER SEEING SUCH A THING!"

"Kill me, but please, just not in front of my son," she begged repeatedly. She grabbed onto Daniel’s heavy metal boots like a pathetic dog, completely stripped of all her former royal dignity.

Daniel grew even more enraged at the sight and kicked her away with brutal force. Anger consumed his heart, and he raised his arm, preparing to execute a devastating strike that would end her life in a single blow.

"NO!" A wailing scream filled with frantic desperation for his mother escaped Ken’s lips. The boy thrashed against his magical bindings, his voice echoing over the ruined roof.

Daniel’s hand trembled violently in midair, his gaze drifting toward the pitiful boy. This was the son of his former best friend, and the solemn vow he had made to spare the boy’s life flashed vividly through his mind.

Right before him stood the iron spear, atop which rested Duke Allen’s severed head, still wearing that calm, lingering smile. It was the expression of a man who had died believing his friend would keep his word regardless of their bitter enmity.

Daniel felt a crushing weight in his chest, realising that proceeding with this act meant betraying his friend’s final trust. The strength drained from his limbs, and the iron knees of his armour hit the marble roof with a heavy thud.

Collapsing onto all fours, he spoke aloud in a bitter, conflicted voice.

"Axel, I... I can’t. I cannot do it. I cannot be so incredibly cruel."

"This is not who I am," Daniel continued, his voice trembling with sorrow. "This is not something I could ever live with. This is not what Myra would have wanted."

His sword slipped from his fingers, clattering onto the stone tiles with a loud echo. He let out a long, hollow sigh, murmuring, "I.. can’t..."

Slowly, the heavy footsteps of Axel Nomrad echoed as he walked closer to his fallen father. The grinning expression on the Demon’s face had completely vanished, replaced by a look as cold as the deepest frost.

His eyes flared with utter disgust as he listened to his father’s weak words. Axel slowly bent down beside the kneeling patriarch, speaking in a chilling, deliberate whisper.

"Do you want to know what really happened on that day?" Axel asked softly. "The day mother died, and the exact manner in which she was forced to die?"

Daniel slowly turned his head toward his son. Looking into those terrifying demonic eyes, he felt a sudden wave of dread, almost afraid of the truth he was about to hear, yet he still nodded.

Axel’s expression twisted slightly as the dark words left his lips. "On that day, mother and I had our carriage ambushed by the Duchess and a group of masked assassins, who belonged to the Vex family as I later discovered."

"Both mother and I were supposed to be killed, and we could have been killed quite easily," Axel noted, letting out a dark laugh. He pointed his finger toward the bloodied Duchess and continued. "But the kind Livia Dusker had another magnificent plan in mind."

"After all, simply killing the two of us would have been far too boring for her, would it not?" Axel commented, his cold eyes watching the Duchess to gauge her reaction to his words.

The remaining colour drained entirely from the faces of both the bloodied mother and her bound son. Axel turned his gaze back to his father, his tone becoming sharp and provocative.

"Why do you think they are both so unwilling to speak of what happened that day, Father? It is not because they are forbidden from speaking, but because they committed something truly unspeakable."

Axel’s voice began to rise higher with every word, his expression growing increasingly twisted with ancient rage. "THE MIGHTY DUCHESS COMMANDED HER HIRED THUGS TO RAPE MOTHER, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES!"

"THE DUCHESS SAID THESE VERY WORDS TO HER!" Axel roared, his dark voice echoing across the rooftop like thunder. "’Now I

wonder how you would feel being raped right in front of your very son?’"

"AND I COULD ONLY WATCH HELPLESSLY AS HER CLOTHES WERE TORN AWAY, AND SHE WAS..." Axel paused, his body trembling with violent fury. "UNABLE TO WITHSTAND THE HUMILIATION, MOTHER EXPLODED HER SOUL SANCTUM!"

"THAT ACT NOT ONLY ERASED MOTHER’S SOUL FROM REALITY, BARRING HER FROM EVER REINCARNATING, BUT IT ALSO..." Axel pointed a finger directly at his own temple. "IT BROKE ME FOREVER!"

"So you tell me whether mother would have wanted this or not!" Axel bellowed into his father’s face. "So you tell me whether I should show even a sliver of mercy to the Duchess and her son!"

With every sentence uttered by Axel and every horrific truth laid bare, the complicated, weak expression on Daniel’s face vanished entirely. It was replaced by a monstrously twisted, malevolent rage that defied all reason and boundary.

They say that the kindest souls bear the capacity for the darkest sins, and those words could not be more true in this moment. Hearing that his beloved, gentle wife had not merely been killed, but violated in front of their child, shattered Daniel’s moral compass into splinters.

The towering pillar of light within the patriarch’s heart blackened in a putrid, horrifying manner. His jaw tightened so hard that his bones groaned, and his face contorted into a mask of pure, unadulterated vengeance.

Seeing his father drown in the dark abyss, the Demon leaned in closer. Axel whispered in a sinister, devilish tone, using the horrific truth to manipulate the man completely.

"So Father, if you are truly the man who loved my mother with all his heart, kill not the Duchess, but her son. Kill Ken Dusker right in front of her eyes in the most cruel manner possible."

Axel paused for a brief second, his dark gaze locking onto Daniel’s ruined expression before adding in a heavy, ruthless tone. "After all, this is the story that you started."

"The story that began, all due to your... incompetence..."
