Third Person
April hasn’t been able to get herself together ever since she heard from her ex high school mates that her dad had gotten remarried and moved completely away from the town she grew up in.
April’s honest plan was to work extremely hard and save enough of her own money to finally be completely free from her mother. Her mother had spent almost all her life reminding her that she was the sole reason April was living such a fine, comfortable life, the exact kind of lavish life her father could never afford to give her.
But honestly speaking, April didn’t even like that life at all. She would have much rather stayed with her father than her mother, but the family law court had other plans for her back then. And even when she finally turned 18 years old, she was still kept under her mom’s strict thumb, who continued to pay for her education at one of the top colleges in the country while she lived inside a mansion.
April wanted to get a brand-new place to stay all on her own. She had started working extra hours at the school library just to earn herself basic pocket money and built up savings she had never once touched. She was desperately hoping that one day she would finally be truly independent, move far away from her mom, and go search for her dad.
April had zero contact with her father over the years, and her mom personally made sure of that. Completely cutting off ties and actively blocking her daughter from ever reaching her father was what she did best.
April got completely lost in her own heavy thoughts while working at her workplace, almost spilling a mug of scalding hot coffee directly on one of the customers.
Thankfully, the store manager was right around the corner to step in and calm the whole situation down. The customer was actually getting ready to press the issue even further, but learning that April was tied to the Morningstar family made the customer immediately back off and let it go.
The manager quickly noticed the young girl’s stressed face and told her to just go straight home and rest for the day instead of making another big mistake.
While she was slowly walking back home, Angel spotted her from down the street and met up with her right on the concrete sidewalk.
Angel was supposed to be on official duty, but she was just walking around the district blocks anyway. Actually, she was already on her way to go find April before she happened to see her walking home alone.
"Hey... wassup?" Angel waved her hand cheerfully at the girl.
April didn’t even bother to look up at the Alpha. Even though her heavy mind was completely occupied with her father being gone, she was still immensely angry that Angel had been actively avoiding her for days without a word.
Angel quickly stepped right in front of the girl, physically blocking her from moving any further down the pavement.
"Hey, little minion... How you doing..?" Angel sang out smoothly, trying her best to initiate a light conversation.
April looked utterly frustrated by the Alpha’s sudden appearance. Since Angel clearly wasn’t going to step out of her path, April just started hitting Angel hard, smacking her chest and arms repeatedly with her fists.
"Where on earth were you?" April yelled out, her hands coming down again and again. "For two whole fucking days, you were nowhere to be seen, huh? Do you even know how incredibly annoying and miserable that felt?"
April just kept hitting the tall Alpha repeatedly, not minding any of the curious people walking around them who were stopping to look at the two of them.
"Hey, listen, I was..."
"Don’t you dare give me any crap of an excuse!" April cut her off completely, her voice cracking slightly. "I’ve done literally everything for you on that stupid list, given you my body whenever you wanted, and when I’m actually looking for you so I can just lean on you, you completely black out on me. Since I’m all worn out and completely useless to you now, huh? Are you already looking for another Omega?"
April glared up at her, her breathing heavy. "You people always leave in the end. You all are just annoying pieces of crap. You just can’t love me without constantly asking for something in return. I’m just unwanted now, huh? A fucking investment to everybody? Not a single call from you. Is it a crime for me to just be alive?"
April kept saying endless gibberish out on the street, putting all her built-up pain and anger directly onto Angel.
Angel didn’t fight back at all. She just reached forward and pulled her in tight, wrapping her arms firmly around the Omega’s trembling body.
"It’s okay, baby girl," Angel whispered gently right into the top of her hair. "Just let it all out. Hit me as much as you want. Put all the blame on me. Do whatever you want to me."
April immediately started crying out loud right there, and Angel didn’t care about the busy streets or the crowd of people watching them. She just held her tightly in her arms while she cried and cried until her tears finally ran dry.
After she slowly managed to calm down, Angel carried her on her back and walked towards the Terrace building.
Neither of them said a single word for the rest of the walk. Only a heavy silence followed them all the way to the main building.
When Angel finally reached the front of the terrace building, she stopped dead in her tracks as she saw a familiar red limousine parked right by the parking lot area.
Angel knew that specific limo inside and out. It had been parked inside the Morningstar mansion for months, and the only time it was ever brought out was when her mother was around town.
Angel’s relaxed facial expression instantly disappears, her jaw tightens up completely, and suddenly she’s no longer thinking about April’s emotional breakdown.
Her mother, the master of the district, was officially back in town.
