Alaric left the study and made his way towards the information department.

For the next few things, he would need many things from them, so it was better if he headed there in person instead of frequently contacting them through the communication device.

When he reached there, he first asked about the deployment status of Divine Inspectors.

"Young Lord, our spies in the capital relayed that the royal family still hasn’t officially ordered Divine Inspectors to move, but discussions regarding the matter have already started inside the throne room."

Alaric felt slightly relieved.

Good. Keep talking. Argue for another two damn days if possible.

However, he couldn’t simply depend on the nobles wasting enough time.

He opened the System interface and looked at the two quests currently connected to his Geniuses once again.

[Quest: Remove a political obstacle of House Orlen without causing public suspicion - Zephyr Nightscale]

[Reward: Eye of Surveillance x3]

[Quest: Convince a neutral noble house to support House Orlen - Evan Lionheart]

[Reward: Spatial Storage Ring]

Alaric currently possessed only one Seal of Mind. According to the System Shop’s description, it could block an attempt to perceive his thoughts once before becoming useless.

According to what I have in mind, I should only need it once.

However, if the Divine Inspectors asked several dangerous questions, or if something unexpected happened, having only one chance of protecting his thoughts was risky.

Completing the quests would give him more rewards and, more importantly, more coins to purchase things from the System Shop.

Backups are always good. I shouldn’t take unnecessary risks. Let’s see if these quests can be completed quickly.

Alaric sighed in helplessness.

I’ve really been making those two geniuses work a lot. It’s not good. Especially Zephyr, he isn’t my subordinate.

I’ll need to reward both of them with some good stuff so that they don’t hold any resentment.

Alaric then asked for a list of political figures currently creating trouble for House Orlen.

"Wait a moment, Young Lord. I’ll have my staff record it for you."

Alaric took a seat nearby, watching as the information department worked hard. Due to the recent happenings, all of them were on the edge.

A moment later, he was handed two papers, which he quickly went through.

One of you will become Zephyr’s target.

Some were spreading doubts regarding his accusation against House Yuglev. Others were arguing that House Orlen’s promotion should be delayed until the entire matter was resolved.

One individual, however, immediately caught Alaric’s attention.

A senior political official in the capital had been repeatedly lobbying for the Crown to immediately take control of the Moliken Forest battlefield, arguing that House Orlen couldn’t be trusted to preserve evidence connected to its own accusation.

Motherfucker is accidentally stepping on my tail.

Don’t you realise you shouldn’t catch the weakness of a villain and display it openly? There are very high chances you’ll be silenced.

Alaric thought, not bothering to think that the unlucky political official might not even know he had caught onto Alaric’s weakness.

Alaric contacted Zephyr, who replied after a moment of delay since he was supposed to be sleeping.

He gave the baby dragon a short explanation regarding the target and said.

"I want him silenced."

Zephyr asked in his young voice. "Kill him?"

"No. If someone openly opposing House Orlen suddenly disappears or gets murdered, even an idiot might become suspicious.

"I only want dirt on him. Bribes, secret deals, illegal business, whatever he’s hiding. Once his position is removed, his voice in political issues will be silenced."

Alaric then reminded Zephyr that important secrets were unlikely to be lying openly inside someone’s bedroom.

"There might be magical formations protecting documents or rooms."

The young lord then stroked the baby dragon’s ego. "You’re a talented member of a race which stands at the very peak of the Magic Path power system, so use that expertise.

"You’re intelligent. Don’t trigger anything unless you’re confident you can deal with it."

"Weak human. You’re very pleasant to talk to."

Alaric could almost imagine the baby dragon nodding with a smug expression, looking visibly pleased.

Zephyr then told him that he would leave after stealing a big chunk of meat from the mansion’s pantry.

Alaric could only helplessly agree to his antics.

With one Genius dealt with, Alaric turned his focus towards Evan’s quest.

He requested information regarding noble houses that were currently neutral toward House Orlen’s promotion.

When he received the information, one particular noble house stood out to him. House Halden.

Let’s fucking go. Finally another piece of future information from Tales of Golden Era which I can use.

He might not have remembered that house since not much time was given to it in the novel, but now that he came across its name, the memories rushed in from the depths of his mind.

There was a rare ore deposit hidden inside their territory which House Halden itself didn’t discover until much later in the story.

That deposit was worth an enormous amount of money.

Alaric summoned Evan and gave him the information.

"You’re going to House Halden."

Evan frowned. "You want me to beat up their young heir now?"

"No no no. How could I do that? I am a saint who only wants the best for everyone."

When Evan heard his self proclamation, he made an expression which said, ’Go on, talk more shit. I am listening.’

Alaric could only chuckle dryly before directly stating Evan’s new task.

"There’s a mana crystal deposit inside their territory that they don’t know about. See? I only want the best for them."

Alaric ignored the obvious question of how the hell he knew that. Nor did Evan ask.

From recent events, Evan knew that no matter how unreliable his young lord acted, in the greater scheme of things, he was like an unfathomable existence controlling everyone like pieces dancing on the palm of his hand.

House Orlen might no longer be politically isolated if his young lord succeeded. His future might not be so bleak after all.

Lastly, the main reason why he didn’t resist the young lord’s tasks was because he noticed that he would always receive an infusion of memories after completing those tasks.

It might be related to the young lord himself. But since he didn’t say anything to me, I wouldn’t bring it up to him either.

Even though Evan was in his thoughts, he still managed to listen to what Alaric was saying.

"You’ll give them the location, but only if they agree to send reinforcements to the southwestern border and publicly support House Orlen’s request for additional forces."

He specifically warned Evan not to trade the information merely for words of support.

Alaric’s plan was to force the Crown to send soldiers to the border. Once the Crown moved, it would naturally pressure other noble houses to contribute as well so the burden wasn’t carried entirely by the Royal Family.

The problem was that Alaric couldn’t predict how many soldiers they would actually send.

They might send enough reinforcements for Marchioness Orlen to finally leave the border while still leaving most of House Orlen’s army trapped there.

What Alaric needed was another noble house to voluntarily send forces first.

Once House Halden openly did so, other nobles wouldn’t face so much pressure in just following after.

Some would genuinely support House Orlen.

Others, especially smaller houses, might simply gamble that House Orlen would successfully become a ducal house and remember those who supported it beforehand.

Someone just needs to break the ice.

Evan left shortly after receiving all the needed information.

Alaric finally stood up.

With both Geniuses working toward their quests, there was nothing else he could immediately accomplish politically.

It was time to return to training.

With Lithy flowers, the Mana Channel Construction Orb, and his newly upgraded Body Path talent, his Knight breakthrough was closer than ever, and if Divine Inspectors were coming, becoming stronger certainly wouldn’t hurt.

However, before he even reached his room, hurried footsteps came from behind him.

"Young Lord!"

Alaric turned around. One of the information agents approached and bowed before immediately speaking.

"The Crown has made its decision."

Alaric’s stomach dropped.

"Two Divine Inspectors have been dispatched. One is heading toward the southwestern border. The other is coming directly to House Orlen’s territory."

For several seconds, Alaric said nothing, but inwardly cursed intensely.

FUCK!

He dismissed the agent and walked towards his room with a mind full of thoughts.

Alaric began running through every possible way to delay access to Moliken Forest without making it obvious that he was hiding something.

Refusing outright would be suspicious.

Claiming the area was dangerous wouldn’t stop a Divine Inspector. They are known to be at Champion rank.

Then a thought suddenly appeared. Alaric stopped just before the door to his room.

His crimson eyes slowly gleamed with increasingly intense madness.

No other choice. They already think I’m insane anyway.
