Chapter 211: Chapter 6: Dominating the Entire Scene

「Dinnertime.」

Mo Ning stepped into the underwater cafeteria and, as usual, was met by a wave of worshipful gazes from the newcomers.

He had grown accustomed to being the center of attention over the past few months, so it didn’t bother him.

He quickly made his way to the serving line, grabbed a few bland items, and headed for the table where Anya and Reina were sitting.

Whispers drifted into his ears as he walked:

"Mo Ning’s actually here for dinner. I remember he’s been gone for twelve nights straight."

"Didn’t Squad One eat lunch in the Cold Pine Forest? Why are they in the cafeteria tonight?"

"I heard the food they had for lunch was called ’hot pot.’ What a weird name."

"Mo Ning just showed up out of the blue. Does this mean something’s about to happen?"

As the strongest person, his every move was watched closely by the newcomers.

Some had even kept careful track of how many dinners he had missed in the cafeteria.

The corner of Mo Ning’s mouth twitched. He ignored their pointless gossip and walked straight to the two girls.

"Good evening!"

"Good evening!"

The two greetings rang out at once—one gentle, the other even sweeter.

Mo Ning placed his tray down at his usual seat. "Good evening," he said in reply, then lowered his voice to bring up the first matter.

"It’s all but certain that the last batch of newcomers and our current batch will be managed together."

The two girls exchanged a look, their expressions turning grim.

Mo Ning picked up a piece of dark bread and voiced his suspicion. "The last batch of newcomers will probably single me out."

After being kicked out of the Taming Center, Andy would most likely be in his own social circles, embellishing the story and rallying more people against him. A conflict between their groups seemed unavoidable.

Anya paused for a moment before declaring resolutely, "I’ll fight by your side."

She paused, then added, "I’m sure many people here will support you, too."

Reina nodded eagerly, the cowlick on her forehead bobbing back and forth. "Me too."

Mo Ning looked at their grave expressions and couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Relax. The best of the last batch have already been promoted to Apprentices. The ones left behind aren’t that exceptional. They aren’t that strong."

After witnessing Andy’s pathetic display, he no longer saw the previous batch through the same "they’re so strong" filter as his two teammates.

He moved on to the second matter. "It seems my performance at the No. 35 Taming Center has earned me the opportunity to recommend an assistant."

The two girls’ eyes lit up instantly.

The newcomers had been at their work assignments for a full month, each toiling away at the most strenuous bottom-tier jobs. They had never heard of a newcomer with this kind of pull.

’As expected of Mo Ning. He can always do what others can’t!’

Reina gave him a thumbs-up to express her admiration.

Mo Ning turned to Anya and asked with a smile, "If you’d like to work at the Taming Center, you can come with me for an interview tomorrow afternoon."

The Noble Lady had long wanted to stop doing hard labor on the farm. Hearing his offer, she responded gleefully, "I’d love to!"

Reina watched, her heart filled with envy. ’I want to work with Mr. Mo Ning, too.’

Just then,

a cool sensation emanated from all three of their Guiding Rings at once.

A torrent of information descended upon them:

[Important Announcement: To improve administrative efficiency and reduce costs, the academy will henceforth merge the 117th and 118th classes of newcomers.]

[The 117th class’s Dormitory Area 75 will be merged with the 118th’s Dormitory Area 76. The 117th class’s activity hall will be relocated to the Mysterious Secret Hall of the Quiet Forest, and their cafeteria will be moved to Newcomer Cafeteria No. 12.]

[Course schedules for both classes will remain unchanged, but all students may choose to attend courses from either class. Both classes will undergo joint assessments and be evaluated by the same standard.]

The cafeteria instantly burst into an uproar.

The second set of digits in a newcomer’s serial number represented their entering class. Mo Ning belonged to the 118th class; the previous one was the 117th.

The Mysterious Secret Hall of the Quiet Forest and Newcomer Cafeteria No. 12 mentioned in the announcement were the 118th class’s territory.

Mo Ning understood at once. The academy was deliberately moving the last class into the current class’s territory to sow discord.

’So, the question is, will the current class feel like their territory is being invaded by outsiders?’

’Of course they will!’

’And will the last class feel resentful, like their territory was stolen and they’re being forced to live under someone else’s roof?’

’Of course they will!’

’And by deliberately holding joint assessments, the academy was undoubtedly pushing both sides into fierce competition.’

The three of them—Mo Ning, Anya, and Reina—looked at each other, momentarily speechless.

Although they had anticipated this, they were still surprised by how quickly the academy had acted.

The moment the announcement ended, a clamor filled the cafeteria.

"This isn’t fair!"

"The 117th class started a year before us! They’re stronger, so aren’t we going to get bullied every day now?"

"The joint assessment will definitely be harder. This is so unfair!"

The newcomers’ faces were grim, and a sense of unease and indignation permeated the crowd.

The uproar lasted only two seconds before an invisible hand seemed to press pause.

A flood of unfamiliar faces suddenly poured through the cafeteria entrance.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out who they were: the 117th class of newcomers.

The newcomers walked in with grim expressions, forming a line as they headed for the serving counter.

The cafeteria fell dead silent.

The two classes stared at each other. There was no friendliness or welcome in their eyes—only caution, rejection, wariness, and even hostility.
