John turned around and headed over towards Frank, who was looking at him with a big smile, along with all the other trainers. "HAHA, kid, you did it; you're the first person to ever complete the training in all weapons in Dawn Village. Congratulations."
"Thank you very much. I could not have done it without your help. Here is the crossbow back."

"Thanks, kid. Oh, by the way, the mayor heard about your achievements here and wants a word with you; apparently he needs help with something."
"The mayor?" John asked in surprise as a quest notification popped up.

{Unknown reward?} John thought before accepting the quest while he glanced over to see that Mel was still busy with her own training.
"Thanks again for your help, Frank. Do you mind letting Dawn Star know that I finished?”
“Don't mention it, lad; it was my pleasure to help, so be sure to stop by again when you have time. Also, I’d be happy to let her know.”
John scratched the back of his neck before asking in slight embarrassment, “Also, could you tell me where to find the mayor?"
Frank once again burst out in laughter at John’s question before saying, “The mayor can normally be found in his house; it's the biggest one in the centre of the village."
"Thanks, cya Frank," John said while waving before he left the Weapons Hall.
Once outside, he turned towards the centre of the village and set out to find the mayor's house, wondering what this was about. Everything he had read online about the mayor's quest that would allow you to leave the village and go to your continent's capital city said that the player had to seek out the mayor themselves; nothing he read said anything about a player being given a quest to go meet the mayor because he wanted help.
As he made his way through the village, he looked around and saw different individuals going about their business. There were groups of players from different races leaving on an adventure together, faces filled with excitement, while those returning were either boasting from triumph or looking worse for wear after a defeat.
He saw players entering and leaving shops while other players would haggle with the NPC stall owners that lined the side of the streets.
He passed by the inn and heard the laughter of npc's and players alike as they took a break from adventuring and daily life to drink and discuss the latest news, including the recent world announcement.
Eventually, John made it to the village square where tens of players stood in small groups shouting out for individuals to come join their party so they could level together and complete quests more easily.

As John passed them by, they looked at him, but then scoffed upon seeing that he was still dressed in the starter clothes everyone got and ignored him to try elsewhere. John shook his head at their attitude and went towards the largest house before knocking on the door.
"Wait, is that noob seriously going straight to the mayor's house when he has just started?"
"Talk about confidence."
"More like stupid. The mayor quest might be a nice guy, but you still need to be at least level five and have a weapon and some decent gear before he will discuss the quest to leave the village."
"Well, I guess the noob is trying to speed run it and is about to learn the hard way then."
John could hear people talking about him behind his back, but he just ignored them until the door opened, and what greeted him was a Halfling that looked to be getting on in age who looked John up and down before wrinkling his nose and saying.
"Look, kiddo, I know you're eager to leave the village, but you're too green. Go out there and grow a bit before you try my test."
The people listening behind John burst into laughter before saying
"Hahahaha, I knew this would happen."
"Haha, I know, right? There is someone new every week who tries to get the quest straight away, and all they receive from the mayor instead is a lecture."
As the audience continued to laugh, John smiled before saying, "Excuse me, sir, I think you have the wrong idea. Frank said you were looking for me."
The Halfling frowned and looked at him up and down again before replying, "Why would I be looking for a baby like you? What's your name, brat?"
"Vincarna," John said simply, and as he finished speaking, the Halfling's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wait, your Vincarna? Seriously?"
"Yup, that's me," John replied as the audience was now getting confused since the mayor seemed to have heard of this noob, but how was that possible?
"Well, why didn't you say so? Come in, come in, I have been waiting for you." After which the Halfling moved aside and let John in before closing the door on the audience outside who were now looking stumped that a player who was so obviously still new, seeing as he didn’t have a decent piece of gear on him and was still in the starter equipment, had the mayor waiting for him to visit.
"Can someone just tell me what happened there? Has the mayor ever been expecting anyone to visit him in the past?"
"Not that I know of, but most people don't stay in the starter village for long. Why not ask on the forums?"
"I just did and so far, no one has ever heard of this, so it might be a new unknown event."
As soon as the last person finished speaking, everyone got excited since everyone knew that completing or accomplishing something never done before in Genesis gave you increased rewards.
AfterJohn entered the house, he saw that it was a cosy place with two chairs by the fire, a table and a few doors that led further into the back of the house.
"Go on, go on, take a seat, my lad." The Hafling urged as he hurried John over to one of the comfy-looking chairs to sit down on while he took the other, just as a notification window appeared before him.

John quickly scanned through the message before a moment later the Halfling began to speak, "My name is Godon, the Mayor of Dawn Village, and I need your help."
"Of course, how can I help you, sir?" John asked.
Godon nodded happily at John's politeness before saying, "Recently, we have had reports from our scouts of a sickness spreading in the forest. This sickness infects both plant and animal alike, and while it kills any vegetation it infects, the animals seem to go mad and lose all reason, attacking any living thing in sight, including their own young.
The sickness also makes them stronger and if they injure another creature badly enough, then that creature also becomes infected. We have no idea where this sickness has originated from or what caused it, and we must investigate it in order to hopefully find a cure
We have already sent out many scouts and hunters to track down the source of this sickness but have yet to hear back from them. I ask that you lend us your aid in searching for the source of this sickness."
