Mel nodded in understanding before saying, “He may not have anything to do with your opportunity, and Tia simply used him as a way to pass you the item. Though I have no idea what an Anubis head would mean.”
“Isn’t Anubis supposedly one of the gods that guides people to the underworld in some Eloa religions?” John asked. “Could it have something to do with death then?”
“I don’t see how; death is pretty self-explanatory in Genesis. You die, then you're locked out ot the game for twelve hours,” Mel replied before asking, “It hasn’t done anything to your stats, right?”

“Ok, well we have a bow, a sword and a greatsword for weapons, a whole ton of different armour pieces and some minor mana and healing potions,” John reported.
“Why are you telling me?” Mel asked with a smile. “It’s your loot.”
“Yeah, but you helped me take them down.”
“That’s sweet, but I only helped take down the kitsune, and even then I didn’t do much.”
“Ok, so you get the loot from the kitsune while I take loot from these three?” John asked as he stared up at her.
Mel’s eyes widened in surprise as she asked, “You're serious?”
“Isn’t that what you mean?” John asked in confusion.
“Muppet, I was only pointing something out; I don’t expect any loot.”
“Well, if you're sure,” John said as he turned back to the corpses, though as he did, he didn’t notice that the look Mel gave him seemed to change slightly.
“Albert definitely had the best gear of the three; he even had healing potions. I wonder why he didn't use them?"
“Probably forgot about them in the heat of battle, happens to new players all the time,” Mel explained.
John nodded before saying, "Wayne’s gear is almost as bad as mine, other than the greatsword, while Samwise was definitely going the tank route. Hang on, why the hell did he use magic the entire time if he has a sword?”
“Probably planned to be a spellcaster class and only kept the sword for emergencies,” Mel replied before asking, “Are you going to take the greatsword then?”
"I guess so. It’s the better of the three weapons since I can’t take both the bow and arrows from Albert,” John replied before selecting the greatsword.

"Ohh, nice, each one heals for a hundred HP; that's three hundred extra HP,” John said with a smile until Mel burst his bubble. “Except you can only take one of each type of potion every ten seconds.”
“What sort of rule is that?” John complained.
Mel smiled before saying, “It’s to prevent people from spam healing with potions.”
“Whatever, let's pick from Samwise,” John said, adding. “He’s got the sword, but I don’t need that. Are you sure you don’t want it?”
“What did I already tell you?” Mel replied with a smile.
“Fine, fine. Then it’s gotta be the green leggings, which give two defence and one vitality.”
Mel whistled before saying, “He must have completed a quest to get those, or been very lucky on a drop.” To which John nodded in agreement while selecting the leggings.

“Huh, I didn’t get a notification about equipping them this time,” John remarked.
“Because you, thankfully, are already wearing leggings,” Mel replied. “If you want to equip them, you need to do it manually.”
“Ah, gotcha,” John replied before standing up and saying, “Ok, let's go check the Kitsune.”
“This way,” Mel replied before leading the way through some trees and as he followed her, John opened his inventory and equipped the leggings, causing the appearance of his trousers to suddenly change.

“There you are,” Mel said as she pointed to the corpse of the kitsune who lay sprawled next to a tree.
“How long do corpses last before they disappear?” John asked before adding, “Do they ever disappear?”
“Of course they do. Can you imagine an NPC’s reaction at seeing your corpse as you just happened to be walking by?” Mel chuckled before explaining. “It’s integrated into the loot system. The corpse will disappear shortly after you have looted it, or after two hours of no one looting it.”
“Why two hours? Is that so someone can get back to it if they die?” John asked.
Mel smirked before saying, “Partially. If the corpse has not been looted after one hour, then it becomes a free-for-all where anyone can loot it, even if they didn’t inflict damage on it. The extra hour is just to allow for that free-for-all.”
John nodded in understanding as he bent down to check Ninetails' corpse.

"Sure, I'll take the health potions since you're offering," Mel nodded.
"Cool," John said before selecting the health potions.

John then opened his inventory before removing three health potions, which he passed to Mel while saying, "Here."

“Thanks,” Mel said with a smile as she accepted the health potions and stored them away in her inventory.
“Whoa, don’t go getting all emotional on me now; I’ll think you have turned into someone else,” John teased.
“What the heck are you talking about? I’m as emotional as the next girl,” Mel retorted. {Even more so when I sing.}
