After he finished his run, John returned to his apartment before taking a shower and logging back into Genesis. As he reappeared, he looked around while thinking, {I should probably hand in my other quests before going to see the mayor; chances are I’ll leave the starter village right after handing them in.}
Having made his decision, John headed off to hand in his other quests, first heading towards the leatherworker since it was closest.
[Quest Complete Notification]
[Rabbit Fur (Ordinary)]
[The local leatherworker knows you're heading into the forest to help the mayor with his task; he has asked you to acquire some rabbit fur if you have the time.]

After receiving the reward, John quickly swapped out his old shoes for his new boots before heading towards the butcher's.

[Quest Complete Notification]
[Boar Meat. (Ordinary)]
[The local butcher has asked you to gather boar meat if you encounter any while helping the mayor on his quest.]

[Wild Boar Ribs x 5]
[Boar ribs that restore 50% of your total HP when eaten but must be out of combat to receive the effect. If the eater reaches 100% HP, then they will receive the Satiated buff]
{So, each boar rib restores twice as much HP compared to the bread. I guess that means there are even more effective foods than these. Time to go see Sajiko.}
As John opened the door to Sajiko’s alchemy shop, a voice rang out from above him, "Oh, what have we here? Why are you visiting me, brat?" Sajiko asked as she looked down at John, where she had once again been reading a book while drinking tea.
"I'm here to hand in the quest you gave me,” John said with a smile as he approached the counter.
"Oh, you finally finished it, did you?” Sajiko replied before asking with a smirk. “Get beaten up by any more rabbits?”
“Nope, the training at the training hall really helped out. Thanks for recommending it,” John replied as Sajiko walked down towards the counter.
“Well, it has been a week; I even heard you completed every single one of the weapons training. Good job, kid."

"Thanks," John replied as he placed all the gathered herbs onto the counter.
"Hmmm, quite the collection. Let's see here." Sajiko said as she began to inspect the different herbs before saying, "You have five extra Briarthorn on top of the quest I gave you, plus twenty Peacebloom, fifteen Silverleaf and ten Stranglekelp, and you even found five Earth Root.
I can pay you fifteen Silver and seventy-five Copper for the extra herbs. Sound good?"
“Sounds good,” John nodded, after which Sajiko took the herbs before placing the silver and bronze coins on the counter.
[Received: 15 silver, 75 copper.]
[Quest Complete Notification]

“Now I suggest you go report your progress to the mayor; he’s starting to get really anxious," Sajiko advised after completing the transaction.
"Seems everyone in the village knows about this incident,” John replied before turning and heading for the exit, adding. “Don't worry, I’ll go report it and put his mind at ease right now. Catch you later."
Sajiko showed a look of surprise upon hearing John’s reply but could only shout after him after her shop's door closed. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN PUT HIS MIND AT EASE? DID YOU SORT THE ISSUE? HEY, COMEBACK KID."
A few minutes later, he arrived at the town square where the usual crowd was gathered, shouting for people to form groups and as normal, they all completely ignored John after giving a quick once-over, or at least until he went straight up to the mayor's house and knocked on the door.
It was only then that some of them recognised him from when he visited the mayor’s house before; unfortunately, Gordon had already opened his door and invited John inside.
As soon as the door was shut, Gordon hastily said, "Vincarna, I’m glad you have returned. Please tell me what you found."
"Calm down, mayor; everything has been settled," John replied before going on to explain what happened in the forest.

[Unknown Mantle Common (White)]
{Nice, I levelled up, but what's this Unknown Mantle? Seems a bit low-rank for a reward from a Unique quest} John thought before he looked at the item and quickly changed his mind.
[Unknown Mantle (Growth Item)]
[Rank: Unique (Black)]
[Current Rank: Common (White)]
[DEF: 2]
[Soulbound to Vincarna]
[A special mantle once worn by an unknown adventurer long ago; it has since lost most of its power from lack of care and being forgotten.]
[Notice: You have just received your first growth item; these items can be upgraded to higher ranks by completing the necessary tasks.]
[Rank up requirements for Uncommon (Green):]
[Obtain your class: Incomplete]
[Merge any 5 Uncommon (Green) pieces of armour with the Unknown Mantle 0/5]
The Unknown Mantle was very worn down and battered-looking; it was a long cloak that fell all past John's knees and fastened with a dark brooch over the sternum. Layers of leather covered either shoulder, and it was finished with a hood. It was mostly black in colour with faded grey highlights around the edges; if you looked very carefully, you could just make out some kind of image woven into the mantle.
"A growth item? I never knew these existed," John stated in surprise.
"This mantle was left with us many years ago; due to lack of care from past village chiefs, it has lost its former glory. I’m sad to say." Gordon explained. "Legends say that it once belonged to a powerful adventurer and that at the height of their power this mantle even rivalled transcendent items."
John stared at the mantle in awe before saying, "Thank you for the gift. I will take excellent care of it." After which, he chose to equip the Mantle.
[Equipped: Unknown Mantle (Growth Item)]
[Notice: You are about to equip a Unique item for the first time; these items require a name to be given to them, please choose a name.]
John looked at the notification in surprise before falling into thought for several moments, after which he said, "Phanta".
[Name recognised and accepted]
[Notice: Phanta has reacted to the name and a special skill has been unlocked.]
[Phanta (Unknown Mantle) (Growth Item)]
[Rank: Unique (Black)]
[Current Rank: Common (White)]
[Shoulders]
[DEF: 2]
[Skill: Veil]
[Soulbound to Vincarna]
[Veil: Grants the user the ability to hide all stats other than their name from other players who inspect them.]
[WARNING: This effect will not work on those significantly stronger than the user.]
[Would you like to activate the Veil ability now?]
[Yes] [No]
"Yes"
[Which of the following stats would you like to hide?]
[Race:]
[Class]
[Level]
[HP]
[MP]
"Hide all except Race and Level"
[Class, HP and MP have been hidden]
"It appears the mantle likes the name you gave it and has responded to your thoughtful choice," Gordon said with a nod.
John’s eyes widened in surprise as he asked, "Wait, it's alive?"
"Alive is a bit of a stretch; it's more accurate to say that it has its own spirit and consciousness." Olrus began to explain. "When an item becomes old enough and also reaches a certain rank, it can birth its own spirit and consciousness.
While no one is exactly sure of the exact requirements for this to happen, such as how old or how powerful an item must be, what we do know is that it has never been seen before in an item below Legendary rank."
“Holy!” John mumbled before bowing to Gordon and saying, "I see. Thank you for the fabulous gift."
"It is I who should be thanking you for what you have done for our village and indeed the entire forest," Gordon replied.
John nodded before adding, “Please do remember that Dream Star aided in this victory when she comes to visit you later.”
